Review in a nutshell: Cut Once is fantastic. They are friendly, knowledgeable, honest people whose top-notch skill is matched by their thoroughness with communication and attention to detail. If you have work that needs to be done to your home, you should use them for it, end of story.
Additional detail and context: Over the last 10 years, I have dealt with and overseen major renovations at four properties in California (including a complete gut job) and several in the Midwest, so when I say that Cut Once is the best (to be fair, tied with another company I regularly deal with elsewhere), I say it with justified confidence and certainty. From my first interaction with Jerrica, who approached me while I was loading some things in and out of my car and garage, to literally every employee I interacted with along the way, Cut Once Remodeling stood out from the rest. I soon thereafter met with Valeria, and had a lengthy conversation about many issues and potential fixes and costs. Nothing was a canned pitch or hard sell, the problems with my house that she pointed out at my house were accurately and properly described. As an example, I had had people come by before saying that the stucco on my house was old and cracked and I needed to have work done. Val correctly pointed out that while there were several cracks that I need not worry about (horizontal cracks from things shifting over the last 50 years), the vertical cracks that were spaced stud distance apart were the beginning of a potentially large problem. Unlike other companies I encountered, there was no “you need to do this right now,” or similar false emergency tone to any of it. I then went and got quotes from three other companies. There is a huge range of what companies will ask for to do CoolWall (or repainting, restuccoing), building a deck, and general maintenance. I ended up going with Cut Once, whose CoolWall treatment of my house carries a 30 year warranty (for context, another quote I received was 12% less, for work that company acknowledged would need touchups/maintenance every 5+ years). Over the next four months, I reached out with a few follow up questions and clarifications, and after much exploration, I went with Cut Once for all the work I needed.
They coated (with CoolWall) the exterior of my house, rebuilt a deck on the back of my house, and based on some of the damage that became even more visible when the house was being powerwashed before the CoolWall took place, they replaced all the windows as well (though again, to their credit, it was not a “you have to do this,” it was a “Given the nature of some of the damage (window frames that were cracked/shifted and could leak water into the walls underneath the coating), the warranty will not be able to be in effect for the portions of your house under the windows,” not a hard sell. The same day the problem was discovered, Val very patiently priced out different configurations I requested of how much it would cost to replace *only these windows* or *only this side of the house* before I decided to bite the bullet and do all of them all at once (and as with the deck and coating, the final bill was toward the bottom of quotes I’d previously explored).
The crews and the supervisors – Ray, Mark, Edgar, Kevin, and literally six or seven other people whose names I do not remember – were all always direct, honest, and friendly. To be clear, there were some unexpected hiccups and problems. I have dealt with enough of these projects to know that those will always happen and that the mark of a good company is not whether or not there aren’t any problems, but how those problems get dealt with when they do occur. In that regard, again, Cut Once was the best. Nothing was a surprise, any adjustments were discussed in advance, and I could not be happier with the final result.
If you’ve read this far, you clearly take great pride and care with your home and remodeling and again, should absolutely use Cut Once to do the work. -
Everything we asked about the project was explained to us to our satisfaction. The workers were on time and completed the project on time, too. We inspected the roof afterwards and we are satisfied of the work. The reps Val, Caitlin, Ray and Mark were easy to talk to and worked with; when they said they will be here or they will call, they were and they did! We were not pressured to “buy” their products or services and we are satisfied with the job. We don’t know exactly how much it costs to replace a roof but with the current economy, we think the price is/was reasonable.

This is the second job they did for us and like the first one we did not shop around for prices but we are satisfied with both jobs they did. The project managers were there everyday to check on the progress of the work and informed us on any hold up (mostly due to inclement weather). Overall, we are greatly satisfied with the company and the work they did.

Great job on my home. Couldn’t be happier!
Amazing coolwall job and roof! -
Very professional easy to work with, finished on time as promised. Highly recommended!

Peter, the crew chief, was personable and efficient. The work for the concrete job went smoothly.

We referred COR to my in-laws in Oceanside to do the same for them as they did for us a few years ago. We just got back from visiting last night and their house looks absolutely amazing. My family is very happy with the results.

Door to door marketing and then called me and refused to set up an appointment unless my spouse was present. And I mean flat out refused. What a complete waste of my time. And what an incredibly discriminative (and stupid) business practice. Some people’s spouses are deployed, travel often for work, work nights, etc. Don't bother with them. They're also offering these services in a historically designated neighborhood - be very cautious as they would have to provide services at the standards that are required by federal guidelines.

So our experience wasnt the best it started off ok but soon the communication and time frame of when the work would be done kept changing and its still not done the only thing they were good at comunicating was how they could charge us more money for a job that was supposed to be done in a week, not too mention they left holes in our outside wall from demolition that they still need to finish and dont get me started on the clean up job, which was one of their braging points when we first met with cut once sales reps but this clean up job they did is no where near what they promised it was going to be, and its not like we arent going to be paying them well, they made sure that expense was real high up there then had the never to transfer my dad over to a power company that you guessed it asked us for more money, my dad and grandma are bolth on a fixed income but it didnt seem to register in the sales reps heads that they couldnt afford much of anything and proceed to ask my dad if we had any family that could fork over the money for solar, i can honestly say we would of rather just learned how to do the work ourselfs it would of been a hell of a lot cheaper... All i know is if cut once wantes their freaking money then they need to come and fix these damn holes they left in our wall....

Had this company do the stucco, wood, and my windows. Was an extremely good experience all around. They communicated very well throughout the projects. Clean up was good. I'm overall very happy with my experience. I would recommend them to anyone who wants an A tier company and is willing to pay for it.

We hired Cut Once Remodeling for an exterior remodeling project & they went above and beyond of what we could have asked for! Both the specialist that came to our house to assist with the design and overall scope of work & the production team that installed the job were super professional communicated well & installed quality work! I’m glad they took the time to sit down with me & my wife so that she could have a say in the design and colors. Thank you C.O.R!

I had Cut Once Remodeling do my windows and a patio cover at my rental property in El Cajon. They gave me an estimate and then their team came out and executed everything they said they were going to. I spent more money than I anticipated but when I think back to the customer service and the integrity of the workers I am reminded that I paid for a quality I could count on. Thank you to COR

Had an extremely pleasant experience from start to finish with this company. COR did my roof and windows. Their communication was beyond superior to anyone I've used in the past. They called me daily to follow up on the days work and tell me what the plan would be the following which I really appreciated.
+ daily clean up
+ great communication
+ beautiful finish work
+ great explanation of materials
Without a doubt I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a worry free project. -
While my husband and I were in town helping his aunt with finding people to work on her house, we found COR. We hired them to work on our exterior . Based on how our first project went, we rehired them to do 2 additional projects. All three jobs were A Tier. From writing contract to writing the last check, we had zero surprises. We were called at the end of each day to tell us what they accomplished and what the plan was for the next day. They cleaned up and organized the materials at the end of every day.
We had experience with 2 other contractors in SD before finding COR. I really wish I found them first. COR did an excellent job. Thank you very much.
*update: We recently wrapped up a 4th project with COR. Just as before, they did an absolutely fantastic job. Thank you for all the help. The house looks totally new. -
We needed stucco repair work done, termite damaged repair on the trim, a door replaced, and paint. We are so happy with the results and how the work was done. From the first interaction, the team was professional and transparent. Communication was clear and throughout the day with not only the workers, but the office team and on-site supervisors.
Weather proved to be a minor obstacle, but at no time did we feel unsure about the plan and timeline. The job was done on an appropriate timeline.
Our neighbors complimented their quiet, efficient, and through work. Houses to either side of us were protected by plastic. Despite spraying, there was no visible overspray. Their masking job was detailed and meticulous.
There is some sticker shock, but you get what you pay for in this case. COR exceeded our expectations and we are very happy. Having previous work done by other contractors amd being disappointed, I would definitely hire COR again in the future. -
Outstanding job. They did my roof and paint. After the paint was done a production member came and did a final walkthrough with me to make sure I was happy. I was! He found something very minor that I probably would have never noticed and pointed it out and said he would someone there to touch it up the next day. Talk about integrity. I am a true believer in getting what you pay for. This company went so far beyond my expectations. I'm very impressed. A+. Love my new blue home!

My house looks brand new
The product is great, it feels soft like it will last fifty years and the rain will just roll right off
Since it has that cool wrap my house should not be so hot inside in the summer
Color is just perfect -
They had a group of people knocking on doors in my neighborhood. I will never use a service or company that sends random people knocking on my door on a Friday after noon, and not just knock once or twice, they were standing in my doorway knocking for like 10min.

I've used Cut Once Remodeling (COR) for four projects in my home: Roof replacement, Cool Painting of my house and garage exterior, a new external stairway, and replacement of four windows.
The COR sales people answer questions and visit the worksite, as do COR employees to evaluate the progress of the project, and answer questions. There is more oversight on my COR jobs than any other contractor I've used.
Occasional issues arise, which COR has negotiated with me. My only criticism has been that some non-COR workers (subcontractors) have done careless work or sloppy clean-up. Mostly, these are not major issues, but I expect more, and I have not seen the "bad" ones on my subsequent jobs. Whether COR quit using these contractors, or simply assigned them to different jobs, I don't know. But, they kept them off my jobs.
I have hired over a dozen home improvement contractors during my 45+ years of ownership. I've ended up with horrible, bad, C+, and pretty-good companies. COR has outperformed all of them. Give them a try and don't be afraid of talking to them about work (if any) is not up to your standards. They listen and do what they can to make you satisfied. -
Recently had my exterior done by COR. They did a fantastic job from start to finish. I leave early for work and come home late so I never saw the work taking place. David and Rhay called me daily to keep me informed about what to expect next and how the day went. Sounded like there was a little bit of unexpected damage as it took one day longer than expected. My house looks amazing. I’m very happy with my purchase. I would recommend COR to anyone looking for a good job done right.
