Bartlett came by early August. to prune two street trees, an acacia and a ficus.
They were very slow, lots of laughter and chitchat, and the pruning job was poor, incomplete, hacked/butchered, and asymmetrical. We pointed out the glitches and the workers argued that they followed the work order. ( what about the client?)
One of the workers allowed that The hourly rate is $175! Per man.
The supervisor inspected this botched job, agreed that the work was lacking, and said the workers would be back on 8/19.
Wrong! They arrived today 8/18 w/o notice and continued their poor work. Ditto: arguing that it was fine. Another annoyance was extremely loud shouting of directions from the street up to the pruner.
Moral to the story: don’t think that the highest bid will result in the highest quality tree pruning. Wrong! -
Efficient and professional. Trees look great. It was a pleasure to work with the Bartlett team!

Aaron came out to my house for a complimentary visit and wound up staying for half an hour, diagnosing the problem and fixing it. The roots had girdled the trunk which was cutting off nutrients. He wouldn’t even accept any payment. This type of service is very rare these days and so appreciated. Thank you!

Having Bartlett take care of my trees has always been a positive experience. The most recent time was really wonderful. Audrey and Collin are bright young people. They were punctual, expert, efficient, and friendly! They did a great job quickly.

TL;DR: Bartlett didn't take responsibility for the damage they did to our trees, after I asked them to stop trimming them so heavily.
Details: We hired Bartlett to trim 3 willow acacia trees in front of our house as we prepared to list it for sale. We also hired them to prune two eucalyptus trees in front of our neighbor's home, for aesthetics and improved views. They were the least expensive bid we received, and unfortunately I ignored poor reviews of their work online.
Witnessing that their crew had very heavily pruned the first 2 of the 3 willow acacia's (inconsistent with the goal of listing for sale in just a few weeks), I asked their crew leader to less heavily prune the 3rd tree. They went ahead and pruned it even MORE heavily than the first 2, deciding it was more important to achieve symmetry than to keep foliage on it.
4 weeks later and the tree remains nearly barren, and an eye-sore in front of our for-sale home. I asked Bartlett not to charge us for their services, escalated to their regional VP, and they declined. I'm posting here so others might avoid the same mistake.
They earn 2 stars because they did nice work on the eucalyptus trees, and to show that I'm not a ranting internet commenter. -
This experience was perfect! Nothing to do better. Everyone was great and my arborist, Aaron was terrific, and his crew was top notch! They got the tree trunk out which enabled the repair of my retaining wall. The job was done expertly and quickly. This was an awesome experience, and I will always recommend Bartlett to neighbors who need tree assessments.

DANGEROUS, DISASTROUS, FINANCIALLY 700 % MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHERS, FAILED TO HONOR LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES DONE TO THE PROPERTY.
Paid nearly 50,000 (FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS) to cut 4 trees and trim 5 trees. The trees which were cut was first trimmed then gone dead and forced us to get them cut.
One bad trim caused 2 feet x 25 feet piece falling on house roof. Their workers took out house fence on house back yard bringing a stranger walking inside the house thus jeopardizing my life and they refused to put back fence. Fence on house front broken by their bucket vehicle and they never fixed it. Bucket vehicle broke sidewalk and they did not fixed it. -
Bartlett has kept our trees healthy and pruned for at least 15 years. They also came to the rescue and very nicely trimmed and cleared away dead limbs dropped by a previous PG&E service call. Their professionalism and customer service are exceptional. Their pruning services have always ensured us of maintaining excellent view for which we're very appreciative!
Out of the San Francisco office, Filipe de Souza is our account representative and Wes has been the foreman over the work to be performed and they've been the best! -
The Barlett team continues to excel, as they have for many years at our home. As a certified arborist (and retired landscape contractor), I know quality when i see it and appreciate the value of a science based tree service. Bravo for another great job well done.

Aaron and the Bartlett team did an exceptionally good job with a difficult project (a rapidly growing and dangerously overextended acacia tree). The advice was clear, the estimate arrived that night and the job was completed by a terrifically hard working team in about 5 hours -- all that with meticulous clean up. It was a pleasure working with them and I would absolutely recommend them.

We loved working with The Dog Tree Service. When we reached out to Eric, he visited the property right away, gave us a very reasonable estimate and completed the project quickly. He has great knowledge about what trees to plant since we had to remove some trees that were no longer viable. The job was completed efficiently and they cleaned up the work site so well! We will use them for any other future arborist work we need. Pleasure working with them! Thank you!

Have used them a few times now for trimming and removal, very happy each time. Trees looked great and grew back in well. He pointed out some other trees that could use pruning but didn’t pressure added services at all. Very responsive, on time, affordable and cleaned up great once they were done. Will continue to use The Dog for my yard and definitely recommend.

Erick and his team were incredibly responsive and professional. They trimmed an enormous birch tree in my front yard, taking down branches safely and without damage to surrounding plants.
Their cleanup and attention to other trees that needed help were a welcome bonus. Their rate was reasonable too, considering the work and expertise of the crew. A great experience.
Highly recommend! -
I love this service! I hired them to trim a beautiful camellia bush, and they did a fantastic job, quick and clean. Also sensitive; Erick first notified me that there was a nest with hatchlings hidden in the branches. He suggested that we reschedule, which we did. Now the pruning is done and the plant looks great. I plan to hire them again.

Quick service. Quick to get an estimate. Great work including clean up. Would definitely recommend

I recently had my overgrown side yard cleared and several trees trimmed, and the results were fantastic. The team worked efficiently, transforming messy side yard into a clean, usable space. They were professional, punctual, and left everything neat and tidy. I’m very happy with the work and would definitely recommend their services.

Erick’s team did an awesome job pruning and trimming our trees! Everything we asked for to get done, they did and the end result was exactly what we wanted. We had a huge magnolia tree that needed to be cut down in size, with tons of branches and leaves, and they left the area spotless when they finished cutting. They also helped us remove a lot of moss growing all over our garden for no extra charge. We will definitely call Dog Tree Service again in the future. Thanks again!

Excellent service. They were prompt in responding our request to fruit from the palm tree in our backyard to avoid attracting palm rats. They took care of it quickly within a couple of hours of the estimate. The work was impeccable. The team had great customer service, and they made sure that the yard was clean—it was much cleaner than when they came. We highly recommend them. We would re-hire them in a heartbeat!

Exceeded expectations! Erick and his crew were excellent communicators, well-priced, and seemingly effortlessly took down two overgrown Cotoneaster trees, and trimmed one other, from the top of our very steep slope in one afternoon. No surrounding plants were harmed, and there wasn’t even a stray stick or branch or bunch of berries to be found afterwards. Honestly, I don’t know how they did it, but I know I’d hire them again in a heartbeat.

Erick and his crew have completed jobs for work contracts I have and at my own home. The Dog Tree guys were professional, arrived on time and did really good work. What I really like is that Erick provided proposals, sent text reminders of the appointment, provided pictures of the work done, and sent invoices to the client, making it so easy! Thanks, Erick!

This was my second time using The Dog. I used them last year to prune my street tree, and this year to remove two small trees, prune a Japanese maple front hedge, and do a significant backyard cleanup. Erick arrived first and we discussed what I needed done. His two men, Camilo and Alexander, arrived a few minutes later and Erick showed them what needed to be done. A two-man crew made it easy for me to interact with them. They got right to work and were very tenacious removing ivy that had intertwined itself with a cyclone fence. They weeded and knew which plants were not weeds. They put landscape fabric on a slope. They trimmed overgrown plants and at the end of a long day cleaned up thoroughly. The price was quite reasonable. Try The Dog, you'll be pleased.
