I have had some occasional difficulty communicating with their office to arrange service but the company did a nice job installing my furnace and have subsequently addressed a couple of warranty issues that cropped up since then. Their service technicians are quite knowledgable and professional.

Associated heating came and took a look at my old furnace. They did not suggest a new one, as most places have. They replaced the filter and capacitor, and it works great now.

Bryan O from Associated Heating came out to do an inspection and repair of the furnace in our newly-purchased home. As a first time home owner, I was hoping to get a good understanding of our home's HVAC system and Bryan delivered big time. He walked me through the whole system from the furnace to the duct work to the kitchen / bathroom vents and gave good advice on next steps to take and how to keep everything functioning and clean. When we need a furnace repair or replacement, I'll definitely be calling Associated Heating and asking for Bryan. Thanks!

Our 20+ year old forced air gas furnace broke down, and we were lucky enough to get a same day appointment with Associated Heating. The very friendly Bryan came round on time and quickly identified the problem. When he found it didn't have the part in his van, he even popped back to his depot to collect one. The installation was quick, and we're back to having heat. Fantastic service, highly recommend.

A heater repair company that will actually troubleshoot and repair a 1978 “old” heater? You’ve found it! Twice in 30 years my heater failed. Both times the many repair companies I called explained that I needed a new $3,000 to $4,000 unit. The first repair (2004) was a motor, this last one was the blower. Much stronger air flow out of the vents. I encourage you to keep your old heater going! :

Wow, this company and its technicians are at the top of the food chain for HVAC. We just had a new furnace put in and I was impressed. Steve and his son were friendly and efficient. At the end of the job, the garage was spotless and the workmanship was clean. If you need a new furnace, Associated Heating is the company you need to go with.

This is a long overdue post. Associated Heating came to replace 2 20+ year old furnaces in my home a few months ago. Rich and his team were extremely professional throughout the process. They took time to assess my setup and provide an efficient heating solution that combined 2 furnaces into a dual zone heating system that was both more efficient and more effective. All the work was done as originally quoted and communication was excellent from beginning to end. I will never go anywhere else for my HVAC needs!

I hired Associated Heating to replace the heating system in our house this fall. They replaced our old heater that died with a new high efficiency forced air Carrier unit and had to replace all the old ducting and venting as well. It was not an easy job and required working with our GC to make room for them to work. Associated Heating is super professional and they delivered on time and on budget and exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend them!

Associated heating installed our furnace 27 years ago. It was working perfectly but we wanted to replace it as it was well past its end of life date. Rich came out and recommended a great furnace: quiet, fast, super efficient. We also asked them to install two mini splits. End of story: all was installed on time, on budget, no drama. In addition, the installation team were super professional and nice guys. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Outstanding Experience with Associated Heating!

When we bought our home in the Sunset District, one of the first big projects we tackled was removing the old gravity furnace and installing a new heat pump system. After researching our options, we chose Associated Heating, and we are so glad we did. From start to finish, they were completely professional, communicative, and a pleasure to work with.

Rich, the owner, came out personally for the initial walk-through and estimate. He was courteous, thoughtful, and incredibly thorough — he took the time to explain everything clearly and made us feel confident in our decision. Andrea in the office was always available, responsive, and helpful. On the rare occasion she didn’t have an immediate answer, she made sure Rich followed up with us directly. Their level of communication and customer care is exceptional.

The installation itself was smooth and impressively coordinated — especially considering that two other contractors were working in the same space at the time. The Associated Heating team worked efficiently and respectfully, and it was clear they had deep experience managing complex jobs.

One suggestion they made — installing the heat pump compressor on the roof — turned out to be a huge win. It freed up our backyard space completely, and we didn’t think twice about it until a neighbor mentioned they were feeling vibrations through their home (houses are attached in our neighborhood). Even though Associated Heating assured us this was very rare, they responded immediately. A technician came out the same day, diagnosed the issue, and the team returned with insulating parts to fix it — a tough job since the unit was already installed. But they completed everything in one day, and now the system is whisper-quiet. Best of all? They didn’t charge us a penny for the parts or labor. That kind of integrity and follow-through is rare, and speaks volumes about why they’ve been in business for decades.

The system itself works amazingly well. The heating and cooling are efficient and even throughout the house. We paired the install with a few solar panels (huge thanks to Save-a-Lot Solar as well — excellent job, great price), and now our AC is fully solar-powered during the day, and our batteries almost cover heating overnight — especially during warmer months.

If you're in the Sunset neighborhood (or anywhere in SF, really) and considering a heat pump, do it — and go with Associated Heating. These are skilled, honest people who stand by their work and treat you with real care and respect. We’re grateful every day for the advice, service, and quality they delivered.
