If you are struggling to find someone who will still work on your old gas floor furnace call Chris Levering. He's fast, clearly knew exactly what my problem was even before climbing under my house, and his rates are fair.
Many of the other HVAC companies won't work on old furnaces and instead try to sell you a new system. Chris didn't try to upsell, he just quickly sorted out my old heater. I can't recommend him enough.

Chris was the 4th company I called about fixing our heater after 2 days with no heat. All the other companies were unable to fix the unit and just wanted us to replace it. Chris had the unit working within 5 minutes of his arrival! He was not interested in selling us a new unit (he does not do new installs) but getting the one we have working. We are still going to need a new unit, because the one we have is ancient, but this repair helped us not to have to rush the decision. He also gave us some advice on what to look for in a new unit.

Chris Levering is the best in the business. He always responds quickly to my calls and my needs. His prices are very reasonable and his work is tops. He installed my HVAC system and it has worked perfectly for close to ten years. Highly recommended!

Chris had done repairs on our older furnace at the end of 2020. Five months later we had a bit of a problem with the furnace turning on. I called him and two days later he came out and replaced the part under his 6 month parts and labor warrantee. He was on time, fast and and he stuck by his warrantee promise. It's hard to find furnace repair people who can and will repair old furnaces. He has access to parts for the older models and knows his way around them very well.

So thankful that Chris called back so promptly. I had called/ contacted three other heating contractors the day after Thanksgiving, and Chris was the only one to call back. He was able to come over the same day and clean (looks brand new) and repair my wall furnace. I had no idea how deadly dangerous my heater had become. I would highly recommend hiring this guy.

I have an old floor furnace (as in over 50 years old). I called Atlas Heating and they no longer service these but referred me to Chris. Chris came out, diagnosed the problem, took a very old and rusted part to a machine shop where a new one was fashioned (because they no longer make parts). He also replaced the pilot generator. Hallelujah...it's been over a week and the heater works great!! It used to go out regularly and we'd have to relight the pilot. I only have one floor furnace to heat an old 2 story house. The wind is very strong today and it's not blowing out!. Thank you Chris!!

Although he was really busy, he was able to get me on his schedule. He gave me a service window and promised to call ahead, which he did. He was extremely knowledgeable, came with all the parts that could possibly be needed, patiently walked me through the failing parts and process for addressing the problems, and he immediately quoted me a price for the repairs. Chris expertly made the repairs and the wall heater now works better than ever!! I am grateful to have found someone with his level of expertise and I would gladly recommend him to others!

I have been using Chris and his services for almost 15 years. As soon as I met him, I felt completely comfortable and have never regretted my decision. He put in new air conditioners and heaters for our two-story home and continually calls and comes by to change filters and check in. On one occasion, our heater on the first floor just would not work (and it was Christmas). I called Chris and, even though he was on vacation, he came over to our house to fix it. Now that is first class service. He is always cheerful and so trustworthy that I sometimes leave him at our home with a key to show himself out. Chris initially installed our current heating and air conditioning units over ten years ago! When we were looking for someone, we made calls and Chris was the only one to promptly answer our call. We explained our situation and set up an appointment with him. He arrived on time and explained everything in detail. This was the start of a wonderful relationship, both personal and professional! We had one problem along the way with one of our units and we were without heat on Christmas. Chris was out of town on vacation but still answered his phone. After hearing of our situation (it was quite cold), he actually shortened his stay and came to our house. This is very typical of Chris, who is solely dedicated to his profession! He now follows up every year for maintenance of the units and cleaning the filters. We highly recommend Chris to anyone who wants a professional to do the work. He still answers his phone promptly and arrives on time for your appointment. Chris has an engaging personality (and absolutely loves our cat)! His prices are very reasonable for the very high quality of work that you receive. Chris puts the CRAFT back into CRAFTSMAN!!! Chris was highly recommended by Atlas Heating in Oakland as they do not service wall furnaces and boy did he do a great and thorough job. Arrived on time, great van with all the parts and tools neat and well organized. Chris has years of experience working on all types of furnaces and showed his stuff by professionally servicing two wall furnaces and one forced air furnace in short order down to the fine details of cleaning up the dust and power washing out the fan. And, hard to believe, but he is a nice guy too, easy to talk with, explains the problem clearly and gives you the price up front before the job begins!!

We have a house in Groveland, CA, we bought 4 years ago that has an Evaporative Cooler. I don't know when or if it is was ever serviced. I found Chris on Google. He came out the same afternoon and thoroughly went over the whole system with me. He checked, cleaned, and oiled all the necessary elements of the system and replaced the belt. His rates are excellent. He is very friendly and great to deal with. I am extremely pleased with his service and highly recommend him.

I called Chris to check out our broken and maintenance-neglected gas-fired heater. I cannot begin to express how absolutely thankful I am to Chris for his professional quick response to my much needed heating unit I called four different heating companies, and they all explained to me that my unit was outdated, and nobody could find the parts because they no longer made them thankfully Chris reassured me. Chris went well above and beyond to fix our air conditioning unit! We arrived at our vacation home in Groveland, CA, and found the air conditioning was non existent! Since temperatures were well above 100 degrees, we needed help asap, particularly with 16 of us there.
Chris responded same day and proceeded to make initial repairs which, unfortunately, didn't work. However, Chris again responded immediately and was able to order the replacement part, drove to pick it up the next morning, and returned to fix it right away. We highly recommend his services, whether it be in the Bay Area, or the Gold Country! This is one phone number we'll never lose!

Amazing! Chris was recommended by my co-worker, and came in on hours notice when our 32 year old TRANE furnace started acting (short cycles). Within a few minutes he had it running, called the local installation company on our behalf and will send pictures of that museum piece to be replaced, hopefully this week.
Very honest guy, told me how much it will cost to get our old system properly fixed and recommended not do it but go with the same brand, new system. It was easy to agree since the house was warm again.
I'm keeping Chris contact information to do a regular maintenance on our new system when it will be up and running. The guy deserves my business and I will pass my recommendation to my co-workers and neighbors.

My family arrived to a cold house in Groveland. We couldn’t figure out what was wrong with our heating system so my husband called Chris for an emergency service call. Chris answered our early morning phone call and with his knowledge and expertise he was able to diagnose and solve the heating issue. We are truly grateful for his service and support.

This review is a bit overdue; however, with the 2024/25 winter season upon us now our family really appreciates Chris' professionalism, responsiveness, industry experience, and ability to navigate a crawl space to repair the older gas floor furnaces of our Oakland home built in1939.

Our previous maintenance visit was Sep 2022. After being dormant for the spring/summer months we were pleased to have the floor heaters start the first time. We plan to schedule a maintenance visit in the next few months.

As another reviewer stated, it is challenging to find an experienced HVAC professional to competently repair and keep older equipment in running/safe condition. Chris is very knowledgeable, efficient, resourceful/timely with locating repair parts, and we really appreciate his ability to clearly explain next step repairs/costs to schedule the work.

Chris did the impossible by getting my old furnace back up and running. After weeks of freezing in my home and blowing multiple fuses from space heaters, Chris saved the day. Other technicians had given up previously and just tried to sell me a new furnace. Chris pointed out that a new furnace install would be very problematic and expensive. He carried the complex multiple parts that were needed to repair my furnace and breathed life back into what was believed to be a dead furnace. I would highly recommend him.
