Ed was able to give me a fair estimate very quickly. After getting the written estimate and agreeing to the price and scope of work (which included removing a metal chimney), he was able to get the roof on the house, the garage and covered porch finished in two days. The gutters were cleaned out and dumpster removed quickly. The entire project only took 4 days. When I stopped by on the second day, the guys were polite and answered all my questions. Very happy and would recommend him.

The asphalt roof and flashing turned out okay. When it came to pick up, finishing the job, and communication, the work was subpar and is the reason I gave them 2-star distinction.
The work was originally quoted 3 days. Some adds to the work were OSB sheathing because my original sheathing was in bad shape, and one of my fascia boards were knocked off during the project. Understand, my house is old and there is wood decay. The work was also done in a time of year with variable weather. However, neither of these factors excuse the lack of communication.
My take on my situation: Ed and crew started March 10th and the asphalt roof was finished March 23. At that point, all that needed to be done was tool and yard clean up, and the fascia board needed to be painted and installed. The ladders were up, and Ed agreed to paint and install the facia board. The board was bought. When they left on March 23rd after I paid in full, the ladders and hoses were up, and compressors were on my porch. In my mind they were coming back to put the facia board up and clean up. My driveway was still not being used because of nails strewn about. I can park on the street. Eventually a truck would come, grab a compressor and leave. Then days after that the ladders came down, and some other tools picked up till most were gone. No update or communication about people entering the property. On April 10th I texted Ed (see snip), birds were constructing nests in my open attic. By then I did yard cleanup for myself so I could use my driveway.
Overall, Ed seems okay(?) with leaving me with an opened-up attic, subpar pickup, and ignoring communication. They left some boxes of hardware and pieces of scaffolding on the roof, a broom, and scraps from the job. I cannot get ahold of Ed. I hired them in the first place to do a complete job. I have a “10-year workmanship warranty” included. However, Ed will not respond to any of my calls and texts so I am unsure how that will work out if anything comes up. At this point I will paint and install the facia board and get the gear off my roof. The way the project ended has left me disappointed. I will not recommend Chittenden Builders to others.

Chittenden Builders answered the phone, gave a quote within a couple days and scheduled my project in a very efficient manner. Ed the project manager was very pleasant and for the most part answered mine and my wife’s calls if not we had a return call within 24 hours. Our project (roof replacement, light framing and gutter replacement) was a scary thing to walk through and Ed and his team made it feel like he was family and friends coming to help eliminate these worries and troubles my family and I were going threw. They were informative and professional throughout. Next project we have we know what number we will be dialing. Great company to work with. I hired them to GC our commercial automotive shop construction from start to finish, and was extremely satisfied with all quality and craftsmanship. Their employees and general contractors were prompt and stayed on schedule. I would hire Goldfield Construction again for any small or large projects in a heartbeat.

Goldfield built my addition this winter in Burlington and I can’t say enough good things about everyone there. Awesome company. They were supposed to replace the flashing around our chimney. Kip looked at it determined it didn't need replacing. They resealed it and attached the cover on the chimney that came loose. I will definitely use them again. Very honest and friendly people.

We were pleased with the work the Vermont Construction Company crew did to replace our cottage roof. I would have appreciated some more clarity about who was the contact person when I had questions. When the roof was being repaired, the worker incharge communicated the progress & sent pictures.

we wanted to share an excellant experience with your company's efforts in installing our new residential roof. Gabe was very open and professional when presenting the overall picture of the pricing, roofing type and color options, scheduling, new skylight installation details, chimney flashing repairs, possible plywood replacement as needed, etc, etc. our questions were answered that day, with later follow-up questions via email within an hour or two, max. Jenna was very pleasant to speak with in regards to a firm start date, also. the crew of 9 arrived at 7:00, and I was relieved to see the immediate installation of a sturdy anchorage system across the roof peak and every worker up on the roof utilizing a self-arresting harness system in good repair. huge tarps were erected to catch any falling debris and by 8:20 the old roof was off. the work progressed steadily throught the day, with zero issues and an obvious focus on crew safety. you have an excellant foreman who has assembled and trained a great, friendly, hardworking crew. probably none better, congratulations! debris clean up was outstanding, leaving the area around the house better than when your crew arrived. the young lady who was our laison between us and the foreman was happy, professional, hardworking and a joy to work with. how are you finding these folks? they are the BEST!

I reached out on a Thursday, Kenny Powers was here the next day and he sent me a very fair and comprehensive estimate on Saturday. Due to my having to first remove and reinstall solar panels our project is on a temporary hold, but I highly, highly recommend Kenny Powers at the roofing division of Vermont Construction Company

When talking to Kyle about the products to us (windows) he did a great job explaining the process and excellent answers to our questions we had . He’s very professional and polite, easy to talk to . So I recommend DaBella company through south Burlington Vt and ask for Kyle .

The Vt. Construction Team showed up on time, delivered a terrific final product, cleaned up as if they were never there and left us smiling ear to ear. I’ve been in the construction business for over 50 years and I can say this Team performs beyond one’s expectations. I heartily recommend them to anyone looking for a roofing replacement.

The team that came out to do the job was amazing. They worked incredibly hard in not the best weather - it was frigid cold. I wish they were better dressed for the weather and conditions. That's my only complaint, if you can call it that. More of a concern. They got the entire roof cleared of the old shingles and the new roof on in one day.
