Miguel and his team built a three seasons room and two lower decks. We are extremely satisfied with the project and the service provided. Fortress did an outstanding work.

I have dealt with a lot of builders/contractors recently and Fortress has been the best one. The best part was that owner Miguel Nogales personally communicated with us throughout the project and personally monitored progress. This is what I find is so often lacking. Bottom line is they did what they promised within the time frame, within budget, and with high quality work and materials.

We worked with Fortress Construction on our screened-in porch and deck addition project. Miguel Nogales took the time to understand what my family and I were looking for and he thoroughly explained the options available and any challenges. He set expectations by being straight forward with the costs and timeline. Throughout the project, he maintained regular contact to keep us apprised of the progress and get our feedback. He and his team executed the project perfectly and exceeded our expectations. It was the best experience we've had with a contractor, and could not be happier with the result. Truly exceptional! We would recommend Fortress in a heartbeat!

My daughter lives in Broadland, VA. In May when we went to visit her from Canada, we noticed the wood in her deck was darkened, rotten & had a big hole in the center due to heavy rain & extreme sun exposure.

We helped her to find a few decks builders & get quotes. Finally, we decided to go with Miguel Nogales, Fortress Builders. We replaced the wood deck to a composite product. Miguel’s team came and in no time, teared down the deck & rebuilt it with the beautiful composite deck. For our budget, we used existing wood posts & beams structure and will try to stain later.

Our project was demolition of an existing deck and construction of a new, larger, screened porch and deck.
We are very pleased with Fortress Construction and highly recommend them. They provided design, permitting, and construction for our project; with fair pricing, prompt service and good communication, on-time performance, and courteous crews.
Fortress quickly resolved our only call-back issue with door locking.

I found some who understood what I wanted and was able to deliver. Very experienced, knowledgeable, quality material with an excellent price. They did my screen porch with an attached deck. I love it, my neighbors love it and all my guest love it. Good communication through the project and upfront explanation of when each payment will be due. It really exceeded my expectation. I really don’t have enough words but I am so glad I went forward with this project and chose Fortress. A+

Fortress Construction LLC (Miguel and crew) built a screened in porch for us over the winter of 2023-2024. Our project was large and involved demolition of an existing two-level deck, and building a new deck/screened in porch. The porch had two rooms, one with a vaulted ceiling and one with a shed roof. The deck is uncovered and runs the rest of the width of our home.

We are very pleased with the results. The build took a few months due to the scope of the work and because it was winter with short, very cold days. The day-to-day crew was very knowledgeable, efficient, and the result of their work is a porch built with very high quality.

I would definitely recommend Miguel and Fortress Construction LLC for your project.

I am very happy with how my deck looks, better than what I was expecting. Miguel took his time to help me decide exactly what color combination I wanted. Everyone who worked on the deck was extremely nice. Though the deck took longer to finish than what I was initially told, I am still very happy with the final result. If you want a job well done and from trust worthy people, this is who I recommend.

We're absolutely thrilled with our new deck and patio! We've included before and after photos to demonstrate what a difference the patio and deck have made for us. Our existing deck was over 25 years old and too big for the space. Animals and our dogs were constantly going under our sunroom and deck, and the area under the deck was a breeding ground for mosquitos. We had stopped going into the backyard with our dogs because it had become so unpleasant. I can't even begin to express how glad we are to have our backyard back! The dogs are thrilled too. We had a great experience with Fortress this summer. Miguel responded immediately to our inquiry and a thorough estimate with options was quickly prepared. Wilder and his crew started soon after because of an unexpected opening. They worked through June's extreme heat and finished under three weeks. Everyone was very professional and friendly. We are very pleased with our composite deck.

Miguel is clearly an expert in his field—he helped us problem-solve design details and come up with smart, functional solutions, including how to install a fireplace without losing square footage. He also handled the entire permitting process with Falls Church City and navigated our substandard lot with ease.

Nelson, our project manager, was kind, attentive, and an excellent craftsman. The entire team was professional, reasonably priced, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We hope to redo our patio in the future and we look forward to working with Fortress again.

Miguel is very knowledgeable about decking materials, builds, accessories and even permit nuances for different counties. He was able to navigate our HOA process and get all the permits needed so we didn't have to.
His crew worked through the rain to get the deck ready for the various inspections and completed the deck sooner than we expected. They even came back afterwards to shore up some minor details that we felt were not to our liking.
Overall, good experience and nice people to work with.

Miguel, the owner, is attentive and communicative. The crews that worked on our screened in porch were extremely courteous, professional and clearly take pride in their work. One critical distinction between Fortress and other firms is the fact that the crews are all employees of the company and not just hired per job. This makes them all answerable to the owner and, ultimately the client. Quality of work is fantastic and I couldn't recommend them more.

We had a very good experience working with Miguel from Fortress Construction on our new 16x20 screened-in porch and attached 8x12 deck. From start to finish, he, the builder, and contractors were incredibly professional, patient, and thorough. The permitting process went smoothly at every stage. The price was extremely reasonable, especially for the size, and level of professionalism that was brought to the project.

Miguel was very generous with his time when answering every question I had, and never made me feel like I was being a bother, even when I nitpicked some details. He’s clearly very customer-focused and trustworthy. His attention to detail really stood out, especially in the planning phase. He provided clear, detailed drawings that laid everything out, and discussed all potential options so there were no surprises along the way.

The build quality is excellent, and the finished product exceeded our expectations. The payment process was simple and convenient with online invoices after major milestones.

We first met Miguel back in 2012 (how time flies!) when he worked for Steadfast Construction.
At the time, he was the company contact for our screened in porch renovation and new sunroom build. It was such a pleasure working with Miguel that when I heard he had started his own company, I knew I wanted to use him on a renovation of our front porch.
His crew demolished our old porch and rebuilt a new one, following the excellent architectural drawings of Se Jun Lee, of SJL Architect, who is another gem. I had a few questions as we went through the process and it was always easy to reach Miguel. In addition, his paperwork was very thorough from the start, and all payments were promptly acknowledged during the process.
We are delighted with our new porch and have received several compliments on it.
