My house very clearly says no soliciting. No regard for social distancing or anything when they walk right up to us. Do not recommend for this reason alone.

K&A built a backyard deck for us out of Trex materials. They were very attentive to detail, answered all the questions that we had, and made the whole process very easy for us (including permits)! Thanks guys!!

K&A did all phases of the job...removing our old rotting deck, designing a new custom deck. They built it, stained it and removed all construction debris. Two years later, they applied a new coat of sealer. All work was done quickly and professionally and we could not be more pleased.

Working with K&A has been by far my best experience with a builder/contractor. They were always communicating next steps and timing. The workers were respectful of our neighbors and ensuring their equipment was not in the way. I’d recommend them to any family or friends.

TL,DR: Spencer Harold is the best, K&A does good work. Hire them!

First of all, K&A built me a great deck that will last for decades. Quality of the work is five stars.

Second, Spencer Harold, the contractor I worked with, was beyond excellent. Spencer is six stars. For any future projects at my house, I want Spencer. Outstanding communication, outstanding friendliness, outstanding professionalism. One thing I especially appreciate about Spencer is that, when issues/hiccups/problems arose during the project – as they always will – Spencer handled them with total professionalism. What I mean by that is, whenever I had a concern or a problem, Spencer listened to me, took my concerns seriously, apologized when appropriate, and immediately addressed them when appropriate. For example, one day when the crew was supposed to be there, they didn't show up, and no one notified me. I told Spencer I didn't like that. Spencer immediately apologized, and then, for the rest of the project, always communicated clearly about when the crew would and wouldn't be at my house. That's five-star professionalism: you screw up, you apologize, and you do better from then on. Spencer, I remain impressed by your ability to execute that maneuver. We should all be so lucky as to work with a contractor who handles problems so gracefully.

I highly recommend K & A Construction. They planned and built a deck around our SwimSpa, and It was a positive experience from the first day to completion. Exceptional workmanship, and the project was completed on schedule. Once completed, there were a couple of adjustments needed. The team responded quickly and made the changes. 5+ Stars!

K&A completed a 12' x 12' shed and a patio roof for us over the summer. We could not be more thrilled with the results as well as the process of working with them. Everyone was friendly, hardworking, communicative, and easy to work with, from Alex as coordinator to builders like Elijah, Mark and Lindsey. The quality of workmanship was very high, and we appreciated the attention to detail that was evident in every step of the process. Finishing details were handled with care, and clean-up after the project was professional. Anytime we had a question we received a prompt reply from Alex, and any problem or setback that arose (as happens in the natural course of any construction project, like waiting for city permit approval) was communicated and addressed in a timely manner. K&A is also selective about the subcontractors they use, and that makes a big difference. We had a separate contractor work on our concrete patio, and that was a stressful and disappointing process from beginning to end. Alex and his crew went above and beyond in helping to resolve the issues that arose with the concrete. We are very happy with our new outdoor space.

K&A replaced the aging deck behind our house with Trex composite wood. In doing so, the size of the deck was increased from approximately 700 square feet to 1150 square feet. Its a big deck!
We received three bids. Of the three, Alex was the only one listening to and bidding to my wife and my requests regarding size, layout and functionality. The other two over-bid with far more unwanted finish and detail than asked for or needed. K&A's bid and final cost came within an affordable range. It was an easy choice. K&A picked a start date and stuck to it; the first of an overall positive experience with this project. As with any project of this size, delays become expected (a few rain stops, a few city inspection stops; the usual) and must be dealt with. Alex kept us informed throughout the process. The projected four-week process turned into six-plus weeks; overall not a bad construction experience. Alex and his crew were timely (when they said they would be here at 8am, they were here!), knowledgeable and very professional. The overall quality of our new deck is amazing and has garnered many positive comments along with jealous oohs and aahs. We highly recommend K&A for your project.

I had a rooftop deck and back deck replaced by K&A with Trex. Alex was very communicative throughout the process and the craftsmanship by the crews was suburb. My place is in a city neighborhood and tough to maneuver and they did a wonderful job keeping material tidy and in place and cleaning things up along the way. I highly recommend this company.

K&A continues to exceed my expectations as this wasn’t the first time we have hired K&A Construction to help us with a project. We hired Alex Kurbjun and crew for a huge project that required many different aspects of construction in May 2017. Deck tear out, dirt removal, concrete work, retaining wall and building a new deck. We were totally impressed.
I am not the easiest person to impress let alone to deal with… Alex communicated with me through the entire process. He was always professional and took time to address all my concerns. If it wasn’t right, he would make sure it was fixed.
Per our request, K&A has maintained our deck on a regular basis keeping it looking good always doing a great job.
We recently hired K&A to address damage done by hail, July 5th, 2019. Dents covered the entire deck, all vertical and horizonal surfaces. Alex came by and assessed the damage and we scheduled a time for them to come out and fix things up.
Our deck looked brand new when they were finished. K&A went above and beyond. The workmanship/quality was second to none. You can tell when someone takes pride in what they do. K&A has that pride. Great job!

Wasn't able to contract them for a project due to the unusual requirements of a patio roof replacement I've been evaluating.

But the team was still prompt, professional, and thorough in their options/communications with myself.

I would certainly look into them for any different future projects that I may have.

Wow this company was wonderful!!! We had a beautiful 25x25 deck with a pergola installed. Alex and Crew were very professional. Alex was the best we ever had at communication. If there was an issue Alex addressed it immediately. The attention to detail was outstanding. During the construction the Crew kept our yard cleaned up, they made sure stuff was able for us to use. They worked well with our schedules and we’re very timely with all the work. The deck has been installed for a year now it is very solid still. We just had the come out tire stain it. It looks wonderful. We will be calling k&a for our next jobs we need done.

I highly recommend K & A Construction. They helped me think through the design of my deck, managed city approvals, and when the work started, they did a great job! They were great to work with all around.

We worked with K&A in 2021 on a backyard patio and deck project. Great experience, starting with Jeff and Alex coming to the house for consultation and advice, then morphing into contracting and project work. We felt that we were handled very well, treated with respect, and regularly kept informed of progress. What stood out to us was the quality of work and on-site communication from their teams. The concrete supervisor could not have done a nicer job with the demo and final product, but also was a good communicator. The two-person team that did all the carpentry was excellent and efficient, including a lot of ad hoc work that came up along the way.

We would definitely work with K&A again . . . kudos to the whole team plus a special shout-out to Alex for leading the way.
