Deck Builder reviews across the US

FINALLY I'm leaving my three season room to write a review. Pretty much been sitting or sleeping in our new room since it was finished in March 2025. We absolutley love our new space! My husband and I had been thinking about adding a three season room for years and finally decided to make it happen. We got quotes from several different companies. Exterior Additions had a fair price and we were confident in their professionalism so we went with them. Also, my husband knew EXACTLY what he wanted and Exterior Additions said they could do it. Husband also knows more than most about construction and so anyone working with us would have to be responsive to his questions and concerns. Exterior Additions did a great job communicating every step of the way. When my husband had a question he could text Josh and Josh responsed IMMEDIATELY either by text or phone call. Never was my husband left hanging or feeling frustrated, which made my life easier! Tyler was also great to work with, answering my husband's many questions. Now I know why most our neighbors use Exterior Additions for their three season rooms and decks. EXCELLENT SERVICE AND QUALITY WORK! If you are thinking about a three season room you have found your company right here. PS...My husband doesn't write reveiws he says his review is signing the check! I, on the other hand, am so happy with our new room that I want to spread the word far and wide that Exterior Additions is a great company and does quality work.

We had an amazing experience with Exterior Additions! Attentive service, very high quality construction, and a gorgeous addition to our home. The crew was terrific and fun to have around; we were sad to see them go lol. They set a schedule for us and always showed up and completed things on schedule with absolutely top-notch work, quality materials, and meticulous finishing. We HIGHLY recommend Exterior Additions.

I couldn't praise the team at Exterior Additions any higher. The planning, craftsmanship, communication - all of it was exceptional. We knew what our new porch would look like through the design phase but the final product far exceeded our expectations. There is a decent wait time before they're able to get started but I now fully understand why. If you're considering having work done, I highly recommend talking to the team at Exterior Additions.

Couldn’t be happier with our 16x20 sunroom extension. The entire crew was a pleasure to work with throughout the project. They answered all our questions promptly and thoroughly. We highly recommend them for your project.

12 Years Later, Still the Only Contractor I’ll Trust

I rarely give glowing reviews.....this is an exception for an exceptional company and experience.

After working with Exterior Additions 12 years ago to build a large porch, there was only one company I wanted to go to for a detached garage. In 2014 I was connected to Exterior Additions through Angie's List. The reviews back then sounded too good to be true however they were warranted. Doug came out, had great ideas for how to replace/expand our existing porch. His crew took one and a half weeks to demolish the existing porch and build a new porch. It was a stunner at how fast they worked and how clean they left the area after each day. We were so impressed we asked Doug for ideas for stamped/decorative concrete for a fire pit and other spots and he connected us with Italiana Brothers (Ed Italiano). Also great work....great group of folks all-around. We have absolutely no issues with the porch or concrete work. Both look virtually as they did when finished.

Given that experience there was no way I was going to roll the dice on other contractors. You know when 12 years go by and it is the same people working for the business, same crews, same subs, that says a lot, especially in today's world. This project was a 24x30, cathedral ceiling (for a car-lift) all-brick detached garage. This included two attached concrete pads for a future covered porch and replacement of our entire driveway. This also included some maybe over-the-top electrical work (Amped Electric - Stephen Neal - same company/person who wired the porch 12 years ago).

Few points:
- Doug, Ed and Stephen seem to know what you are going to ask and want before you even think about asking
- Doug seamlessly coordinates and sequences all behind the scenes
- While I can be particular, you know you have the right company when you walk in while they are putting up the wall board (maple plywood), they have a laser level to ensure perfect alignment....INCLUDING equally-spaced and symmetrical screw placement (I wanted exposed screws for later removal if needed). Doug takes it to a higher level.
- Ed, Shannon and JT with Italiano Bros were outstanding.....they know what they are doing. Quality of work is very high. Easy to work with start to finish and also very clean!
- Stephen was great to work with as well. We liked his work so much we had him replace our house's old circuit breaker panel
- I also want to mention Shane - coming by, doing the needful and also making sure all is tidied up....

In conclusion, I am not one to write many reviews however I felt I needed to share this in case anyone wants a job done well, timely with a group of people you can count on.

Exterior Additions is one of the very best companies we’ve ever worked with, dating back over two decades. They installed a screen porch on our previous home in 2003, added a 20’ x 20’ heated addition in 2006, and built a front porch in 2008. The workmanship was incredible and their customer service has always been second to none. Their work was a big reason we sold that house in two days back in 2016. I’ve reached out to the them multiple times since then for guidance at our new house, most recently about adding a heater to the existing screen porch (which has Eze-Breeze windows). They highly recommended Infratech Heaters and put us in touch with their contractor. It’s now a few weeks later and we absolutely love our new heater. Exterior Additions builds long term relationships with their clients, which truly makes them special in this day and age. We highly recommend them!

Exterior Additions is an incredible company to work with. From the first meeting with Josh to discuss the scope of what we wanted to do all the way through project completion the process was seamless. Their professionalism and quality of their work is unmatched. Doug, John, Tyler, Jared, Shane, and everyone else that worked with us on our deck were the absolute best! We couldn’t be happier with the finished project and highly recommend EA for any deck or porch needs!

Simply the best!! Doug and the entire Exterior Additions team were absolutely wonderful to work with. We were in need of replacing our deck and wanted a covered porch and patio area. Having a degree in design and working as a project manager in the contract world, I knew what I wanted and had a certain level of expectations. From the very beginning working with Josh and Tyler on project details and layout, I knew we had found the right contractor. They handled permitting and brought all the right players to the team, including a patio sub-contractor.

Doug and his team arrived to build the covered porch and we were immediately impressed. They communicated, were organized and kept our property clean. Every day, tools were put away, materials neatly stacked and Shane made a weekly trash haul for debris. Living in a neighborhood with an HOA, this was very important. We never once had to ask them to clean anything up. It was automatically done. If we ever had questions, Doug was right there with an answer. He has high expectations (and a perfect amount of perfectionism) that further solidified we had made the right decision to use EA. His level of experience and attention to detail is impressive and not something you often find.

Jared, the project manager, kept check on the project, kept us in the loop and at the end, came out and pressure washed everything down. Every sub contractor they used was top notch. Even the building inspector commented positively on them. That alone says a lot!

I can honestly say that working with the Exterior Additions team on our project far exceeded our expectations.

We had the best experience with Exterior Additions. We knew our second story porch would be a big project but they nailed it and every step along the way was seamless. Tyler helped us with initial design aspects and was always available to answer questions along the way. Doug and his team were so easy to work with. They are friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly skilled. They truly know what they are doing!
Our porch turned out even more beautiful than we could have imagined. It has become an extension of our living space and we only wish we had done this sooner. I have already recommended Exterior Additions to several neighbors and friends and will continue to do so.

We had Exterior Additions build our porch in 2017, and we’re still thrilled with it after all these years. The Trex decking has held up beautifully with almost no maintenance, the Eze-Breeze windows make the space super flexible across seasons, and the Infratech heaters turn it into a porch we can actually use year-round.

It’s one of our most-used spaces and still looks great. We’d absolutely recommend Exterior Additions to anyone considering a porch or outdoor living project.

We are on year two of having our enclosed ezebreeze sunroom. And it is still as fabulous as one one. Exterior Additions did an amazing job and the three man crew was exceptional. Our 20x20 foot room is excellent for entertaining and relaxing. Tyler and the team built it to our needs and specifications. I would not hesitate to recommend or use them again for any future project.

We had a fantastic experience with Exterior Additions. They quoted us for a complete back porch build along with a new stamped concrete patio. They were extremely transparent about their bid and the type of work they would commit to. We chose them for the job after speaking to a handful of other companies. Exterior Additions was a very competitive bid. We are very happy about this decision as their quality of output was elite. Their team was very respectful, always cleaned up nicely after each day, and the end result was better than our expectations - which was high! We would absolutely recommend them and will be using them for any exterior projects that we might have within the future.

We have had outstanding experiences with Exterior Additions. First we did a porch with EZ Breeze windows, beautiful tile and sky lights resulting in a wonderful living space. We then had a small studio stand alone studio made for my glass art. It is perfect in every way.

The quality of work, the vision, the expertise is the best we have experienced in Charlotte. This is a company that can be trusted.

We had a great experience with Exterior Additions and our porch is now the favorite room in the house! Everyone we worked with was so nice and professional. The work was top notch and I couldn't have asked for more.

Exterior Additions completed our porch several years ago utilizing Eze-Breeze Windows. The process was smooth and was executed as promised. No delays, no mistakes and no surprises. The project came together as promised. We really enjoy our screened in porch and are cats love to nap out there. In the interim when we’ve called for service the response has been prompt and effective. Exterior Additions is a reliable business in our community and I never hesitate to recommend them to neighbors and friends. When I have another project they will be my first and only call.

I’ve now worked with Exterior Additions three separate times over the past 10 years — first on a porch at my previous home, then on my mother’s home, and currently on my own house again — and that alone probably says more than anything else I could write.

They are one of the most organized and professional contractors I’ve ever dealt with. Every project has been handled completely by the book: permits, inspections, HOA requirements, and all paperwork are taken care of properly so there are never surprises, delays, or neighbor issues. You don’t have to chase them or worry about compliance — it’s all managed.

Their scheduling is reliable, communication is clear, and the work is completed exactly as planned. The craftsmanship is excellent and consistent across every project we’ve done with them.

What I appreciate most is peace of mind. With Exterior Additions you know the job will be done correctly, on time, and up to code without shortcuts.

After three projects over a decade, I wouldn’t consider using anyone else for a porch or exterior addition. Highly recommended.

I wish I could give Exterior Additions more than 5 Stars! From the very beginning it was apparent that customer service and satisfaction were at the top of their priorities.

We worked with Jared, Tyler & Shane on closing in our screened back porch with Eze Breeze windows. The process from first contact to final check was seamless. They were clear, fair priced and always available to provide updates and answer any questions.

We could not be any happier with our final project. It has become our favorite room!

Thank you Exterior Additions!!! We will recommend you to many in the future.

Having Exterior Additions complete my backyard covered patio was the best decision I could have made. Every person involved was first class. Each person treats this project like there own. There was Tyler/Josh helping get your dream to come to life, Shane being there in an instant to help with getting all the paperwork finished, or Ed's top notch concrete performance. Jared helped as the project manager overall and was always available to answer. Steve helping on the electrical/lighting made my backyard come to life.

These guys were incredibly responsive, professional, and made you feel like your project was their number 1 priority. If you have any doubts in who to go with, choose Exterior Additions. Just be ready for how fast they can knock out your project! Incredible experience!

We could not be happier with our experience and final result of our EZ breeze, enclosed back porch created by Exterior Additions! Doug, Tyler and team took care of everything making it fast & easy. It’s a space we can use all 12 months while living in Charlotte! (Spring for Trex flooring and heating element!)

Exterior Additions recently finished our new porch with Eze Breeze windows and we could not be happier with how it turned out. From our initial meeting with Josh, ironing out the details with Tyler and Shane, and the porch being built by Jared and his team, it's clear Exterior Additions takes a lot of pride in the quality of their work and the professionalism they demonstrate as a company.

We had great communication throughout the process, and they were quick to answer any questions we had both before and during the building process. We would absolutely recommend Exterior Additions to anyone looking to have a porch or deck built by a great company!

What a pleasure working with Exterior Additions on this project. From start to finish, the professionalism and knowledge exceeded my expectations. Throughout our project, the Exterior Additions team provided constant communication of each step in the process. Our deck is more than we could have imagined. We are so impressed with the attention to detail and craftsmanship. Call these guys!!
