Tom did a great job discovering what our problem was. Our garage didn't work ONLY when it rained which was really odd. He came out on the SAME day and helped to fix the problem. It is still raining and our garage is now working. It was also really affordable. Tom was easy to get along with and made the experience a pleasant one. We would use him again in the future!

Phenomenal experience! I ran into an electric issue during my kitchen remodel on a Friday night and was too afraid to proceed on my own. I stumbled on Tom's number after a Google search and here's why I would highly recommend him.

1. He answered the phone
2. He listened and asked questions to better understand the question on the phone.
3. He showed up on a Friday night within an hour of my call.
4. He fixed my problem and took a look at the additional electric work I performed to make sure it was safe and in good order.

Tree fell on my house and pulled the pole and line from my house. Tom was able to come out day off and assess the damage. He noticed recalled equipment and exposed electrical box open to rain water on my house that posed a safety risk.

He worked with my insurance the day off to get full documentation of what was necessary to repair so that my insurance had all necessary documentation to cover the repairs. He pull city permits and got started that same night to fix all the problems.

Promptly after the work was completed he had the city inspector come out to approve the work so I was able to have duke energy restore power. Very easy to work with and the work was top quality to ensure no safety risk exist anymore.

I highly recommend.

We were looking for someone to install some ceiling lights, but also were looking to upgrade our circuit breaker box as well
We went with the CB box first. This guy pulled out every single circuit breaker in the box and replaced them. He also replaced some of the internal power cables. Won't use him again for other transgressions, but doubly won't use him for what I just found out. Got another electrician in to do some work along with CB box. He just told me that the circuit breakers that were replaced about 4 months ago, are outdated, no longer used or manufactured circuit breakers, that shouldn't have been used. Paid thus shill good money and he pulls a fraudulent job like this. Luckily we were looking into replacing this panel, seems we now have to replace it. This fraud took over $1,000 for this, and he too all our older, probably better, circuit breakers with him. God knows where he got the ones he installed here. This borders on the criminal and wilfully negligent, to put someone's house at risk in this way. There are so many reasons not to use this Tom, fake electrician, but this alone should be enough to avoid this guy like the plague. Shady doesn't even begin to describe this guy.

Tom did an outstanding job for us. We called him to replace our broken air conditioning breaker, but while he was here, I told him about some other electrical issues we had had for years. By the time he left, he had fixed the AC breaker, the oven breaker, the GFI curcuit and replaced a dimmer switch which had been shorting out occasionally. I appreciate his willingness to answer all my questions, and explain everything he did. All for a great price.

I highly recommend Tom as an electrician. He was very helpful in fixing the electrical issues at my house and also helped with another issue I had asked during the time of visit. His prices are very affordable. I think the biggest benefit with Tom is that he explains the cause of the issue and how to prevent it. In my particular case, he was able to explain how my house was wired.

I've relied on Providence Electric for over a decade. They're responsive, reliable, and trustworthy. I had other repair folks tell me I'd have to cut a gaping hole in my ceiling to replace bathroom exhaust fans. Tom & Brandon did the job without any ceiling damage in short time. It's great for homeowners to have such a dependable and professional electrical service business in town.

I had an electrical emergency involving a broken meter box which resulted in Duke Energy turning off the power to my house. After calling several electricians in the Charlotte area and being told they were booked solid and couldn't make it to my house that same day, I got in contact with Tom from Providence Electric. He not only showed up within a couple hours of me calling, he also pulled the permit with the county and was finished with the job the very same day. I'll definitely be calling Providence Electric for future electrical needs.

Did some work for me about a year ago - I don’t leave a review then, but should have done to warn people off.

It took 4 visits to the house to do work that should have been done in a day. I got excuses like “I’m just going to get lunch”, then I would get a call to ask if he could come back the next day to finish. I couldn’t take additional time off work so my wife had to stay at the house when he was there, and said she didn’t feel comfortable around him as he would start talking about his extreme political beliefs while getting angry.

On the last day at our house he used our bathroom and blocked the toilet. I’d had enough of him at this point, so said something about him leaving it and he had the nerve to deny he was even in there and implied it was my wife.

Avoid at all costs.

Tom at Providence Electric provided a fair quote and quality work. He worked hard to get our power up and going on a Sunday evening when we were down and out. Really happy with his service and will be using him again if needed. Thanks Tom!

Best electrician that I have used so far!!!!! Tom is reliable and a man of his word.We had a power outage in our home and Tom took the time to explain every detail of the issue and how to prevent it from happening again. He went out of his way to fix the problem and made sure he did the job right!I will definitely use his service again.

Tom came by and repaired our meter the. Same day we called! I called several companies and got voicemail or no answer at all. Tom answered the phone gave me a good idea of what it might cost. He came out at 3pm as scheduled and by 5 pm we had power. He fit us in the same day and the cost was very reasonable. I highly reccomend Tom and Providence Electric. They are definitely my electricians for all future work I might need. Top notch!

Tom is now my wife and I’s new go to electrician! After 3 days of no heat and waiting for our home warranty company to locate a contractor to fix the issue, we were facing another 4 days with no heat. After going back and forth with our home warranty company they approved for us to use an outside contractor of our choice. Being our first time dealing with an issue like this we luckily found Tom online and I can’t tell you how very delighted we are that we did! After explaining what was going on and how we were facing 4 more days without heat, he wasted no time to come out late into the evening after his work day was done just fix the issue! He was extremely knowledgeable, very polite, and got the job done in no time. His prices, even on short notice, were very reasonable for what the job was. We will be contracting Tom again soon for some projects we have planned for the future. Highly recommended.

Tom went above and beyond what was expected when we had a residential wiring problem with our HVAC. He was very knowledgeable, and honest. He stands by his work and when we thought something was wrong he came back later in the evening on his own time to make sure that the work he did was correct, which it was.

I will use his service again and recommend him to my friends for sure.

We had a short in our outlets and lights on Easter Sunday, and thought for sure we would have to wait until at least Monday to get someone out. I left a message, and Tom got back within minutes. Within a half hour he was at my house, and fixed the problem within a half hour or so of arriving. Super nice, charged me exactly what he quoted on the phone (very reasonable), and understood the problem and solution quickly. Would absolutely recommend. Great experience.

Edit: Nice enough guy, but really hard to get him to follow up on his work. Several of my calls/texts to him went unanswered/unreturned. The problem returned almost immediately, and I couldn't get him to come back out to check it out. Ultimately I tracked the problem down myself to a light switch that had gone bad, and replaced it. Since then I have switched to Michael & Son.

Tom at Providence Electric was a God Send today. He was quick, efficient and affordable. Not to mention that his work was done with complete confidence and expertise. I recommend Tom and Providence Electric for your electrical needs. He was also very pleasant, respectful and courteous and that is what made me calm during this crazy storm of ours. Two thumbs up to this company.

Tom did a great job on fixing my amateur wiring job that someone else did a terrible job, he came in an found the issue and fixed it and even ran the correct wiring to my microwave and even installed some dimmer switches that made a difference to my lighting. He even walked me through proper ways to wire switches and outlets, he came out the same day I called and was reasonably priced.

I would definitely call Providence Electric again for any of my electrical needs. After a power outage caused some damage to a few breakers, Tom provided same day service, on a SATURDAY, for a completely reasonable price. Then, when I decided on the spot that I wanted some extra work done (fully expecting to make a future appointment), he stayed late, completed the work that night, and really went out of his way do a great job.
Providence electric is an honest company, straightforward, knowledgeable, and responsive. I would recommend them to my friends.

Tom is amazing!! He has great customer service and I will be using him for all of my electric work going forward. I called him this morning and my repair was completed by this afternoon. Tom was great. I called 3 other electricians before I called Providence Electric. No one could get to my house until next week. I explained my problem over the phone to all 3. Tom was the only that said he was pretty sure it was a simple fix but wouldn't know for certain until he arrived. Tom arrived 2 hours after talking on the phone and was finished with the repair in 30 minutes. I will definitely recommend their services.

Excellent experience with Tom Harp and Providence Electric! I needed an outlet installed in my attic, and started doing the google search. His reviews seemed good so I gave him a ring. Within 30 minutes of calling him he was on his way, the work he did was top quality, and he was a really cool guy all around! Such a breeze working with Tom, I'll be using Providence Electric for all my electric needs in the future!
