Constraction reviews in Fort Myers, Florida

This company built a home next to mine. In the process, one of their sub contractors dug up the drain line to my water system and instead of notifying me they tied off the line keeping it from draining and caused my pump to burn up. When I contacted them and sent a picture of what had been done they came back offering 1/4 of what I paid to repair the system. They claimed that none of the subs would own up to it and that’s the best they can do without more pictures of the area before the work was done. When I told them I would be going to the Building Department to file a complaint they bumped it up to half of my costs. When I told them I’m not trying to negotiate and that I wanted the complete repair costs, they went silent. I have lived here for over 6 years and never had an issue until now. They do not take responsibility for their workers actions so if they build a home near your property, apparently you need to be responsible for taking before and after pictures yourself. I work in the construction field and regardless of who actually does the damage, the building contractor is responsible for it.

It’s basic cookie cutter house company. Couldn’t expect much, and didn’t expect much purchasing a home through them. A lot of half a** work, lack of customer service for warranty issues. They only half way fix repairs, when they do answer you. Completing a job should include painting the area they just torn up and redid, but nope. Take your car to a tire shop to have a flat tire repaired just not to have air put back into it…. House will just end back on the market and hopefully into a rental property. All what it’s good for.

*response to your response*- Congrats on pointing out dates. How about my last email on 3/14 asking for updates that never heard back on. You know the ones that you claim everything is satisfactory on? With the paint, just pointing out that it’s ridiculous that it’s not your responsibility when you’re fixing your own warranty problems. But hey you do you. From blocks buried in the yard when sod was put down, one window not framed correctly on the inside (They fixed, with about ten pounds of wall mud. Wish I was joking), a windowsill installed at an angle in which on 3/4 you tried to decline the claim at first, then finally you guys came out to fix. Front door still isn’t right. And my all time favorite is that I still have the blue tape marks that YOUR guy put on during the walk through, over a year ago now on the back windows. I’ll remove it now. Don’t worry, I’ll get a professional here to make the necessary finishes/repairs.

This past fall we purchased a Christopher Allen Home. This was by the far the best experience we have ever had! As much as I would like to give CAH 5 stars I am unable to. CAH builds a very good home, but they lack follow up with their customers. We found a beautiful home in Charlotte county, did the walk through with Neil 2 weeks before our closing date, had about 10 items on the list to be repaired, mostly cosmetic. Around ten days later we asked for the final walk through two days before closing to confirm all check list items were completed, that walk through was denied. We were assured all was done, so we closed, picked up the keys and went to our new home. Imagine the shock that greeted us upon entering our brand new home, nothing had been done the check list. Let me give you a quick idea of the problems. Smoke alarms were going off, house was not cleaned, dirt and construction dust on everything, windows covered with dirt, dust and mud, tile/grout stained throughout the home do to sloppy work and missing paint on the walls. I couldn’t imagine buying something brand new (car, boat, clothes and so on) and having it delivered to us in such poor condition. CAH did show up after a few calls and cleaned, painted and got the house in better shape for delivery. Everything but the tile/grout were finished that day. The tile/grout has been an issue going on since closing now eleven months. We were told by CAH that because we took delivery, the issue was a home warranty issue, we have filed three complaints to the warranty company and they say it’s an issue for the builder. Please Christopher Allen Homes it’s not just about building a house, it’s about your customers too. Please contact me and we’ll show or send to you the numerous emails rejecting our request for service.

Love it cant wait for our new house to be completed. Deff. Best house/builder for the money. Many of the things in these models are upgrades and more money feom the other builders. Cant wait to move in ours and make it out home.

Christopher Alan homes can have a very nice product, but in my experience you will have multiple warranty issues because of poor quality/ installation. My house is under a year old and has had about 5 different warranty issues within that first year.
The latest one was my roof, which will not be covered because of “acts of god” but in reality the shingles were incorrectly installed.
So I’m quite disappointed because I understand nothing is ever perfect but this is just shameful.

Great company to work with. The best team I work with in a long time. Big thanks to Karelia, Mario and the construction manager Pablo for their great job to make everything works as we expected. All happens in a smooth way and buyers where super happy to buy a Christopher Alan property.

A great buying experience with Christopher Alan Homes. We were 1000 miles away. Allison responded promptly and helpfully throughout the entire buying process. We felt she was an advocate for us as buyers. Crystal is providing great service in addressing minor items after our move in. We are thankful for their ongoing support as we are settling into our new home.

In 2022 we closed on our new Christopher Alan - St. Augustine home in southwest Florida. The quality of the home was exceptional, from the granite counter tops, the tiled floors and walk in shower. The attention to detail was amazing. Throughout the build process and post occupancy the support we received from Carlos G. was second to none.

The structural design of Christopher Alan homes speaks for itself, during hurricane Ian [a Cat. 5 hurricane] we had no damage.

Perhaps, most noteworthy is the ongoing dedicated customer support well after the 1-year warranty.  Considering there is no obligation on Christopher Alan’s part to address post warranty issues, Carlos and Customer Care have provided their support promptly and professionally.

Lastly, I was asked recently by a couple considering the St. Augustine if they would be disappointed with a Christoper Alan home, I said the only way they would be disappointed is if they decided on another builder.

I recently bought a house from CAH in September, and since then it’s been nothing but problems. The office has next to no communication with their customers after you close. They say you can call or email us at any time but my calls always go to voicemail and emails go unreplied to, sometimes for days, if it’s an issue they were responsible for. Their builders take short cuts; I recently discovered that they did not finish the drywall behind the countertops and instead shoved trim in the wall to act as a stud before installing the counter. Highly disappointed in their builder’s poor workmanship, making me wonder what other short cuts they took that I’ll probably discover a year from now when something else goes wrong. Their customer service is also very substandard, but only after you regrettably decide to close on your house. Go with someone else.

This builder has no regard for the safety and welfare of the wildlife in the area, especially the city bird of Cape Coral, the burrowing owl. Instead of leaving the burrows alone and with sufficient space for them to live safely, they have decided to build multiple houses right next to a plot dedicated to these beautiful animals. Instead of leaving them alone, their answer is to simply evict them or hope they leave on their own due to the construction noise and/or foot and vehicle traffic. They also have bags of trash laying out in the field. Money hungry and disgusting.

November 2024 UPDATE - It has now been 9 months since we closed. I feel it’s important to provide an update that reflects the positive. Thanks to Carissa Anderson and the leadership team at Christopher Alan Homes we were able close sooner(still much much later…. 4 months + Later) but sooner than the additional delays estimated.

Carissa Anderson reached out and went above and beyond to ensure we closed sooner rather than later. She coordinated seamlessly with the ground team, showing tremendous effort and dedication throughout the process. She provided solutions and showed genuine empathy. Her commitment made a world of difference in turning a stressful experience into a manageable one.

Additionally, after closing I’ve found their warranty team to be highly responsive. When an issue has come up, they’ve been quick to address it, making sure I didn’t feel abandoned post-closing.

While my early experiences were disappointing, Carissa’s efforts and the warranty support have helped improve my overall impression of Christopher Alan Homes.

I have had such a wonderful experience! From the start, nothing but kindness and patience. This is my first time buying a home. I had sooooo many questions and concerns. Karelia Grafmyre was so sweet and Dan Kliegl the construction manager was amazing. He made sure we were happy and understood all the warranties. On our final walkthrough, everything we noticed slightly off, was taken care of. To be clear, we had NO major issues on our walkthrough.
