General Contractor reviews in Tampa, Florida

I've used Todd homes a few times, including siding replacement, roof vents, painting, general repairs, installation of a storm door. Definitely recommend them. Prices are fair and workers are knowledgeable.

I'm THRILLED with my new kitchen! Todd Homes had a big job ahead of them--exterior structural work for a new sliding glass door, replacement of kitchen and dining room floor tile, alteration of a principal load-bearing wall (through which two stack pipes were routed), moving plumbing to a center island, and rewiring the kitchen for a new stove location and many, many pretty ceiling lights. Because they maintain a team of skilled tradesmen, all of these things were done well and I was very satisfied with the finished product. They were with me through every step of the process and were extremely responsive to my concerns. Renovations are generally chaotic, but Vince and Chuck did everything they could to minimize the chaos and drive the project to a successful conclusion.
And I am so very happy with my bright and pretty kitchen and all of the natural light the project brought into my formerly dark dining room. You can't go wrong with these professionals! -
The business owner says they "do not know why" the problems with our floor developed, which is 100% false. We provided an independent flooring inspector's report noting that the floor was far from level, causing the cupping, popping, and separation between planks. Measurements showed the floor was 1/2" out of flat from 10 ft. The industry standard is that floors need to be within 3/16" of flat from 10 ft. This is written clearly on the boxes of flooring they installed.
I was willing to stick to our refund agreement until we had to pay to remediate the mold that grew all over our floor due to the company’s negligence. The business owner is refusing to take responsibility for the mold. Given that the mold could only be discovered after we got our money back from Todd Homes and hired another contractor to redo their work, the mold is a new and separate issue and fair game for review. Sorry Todd Homes!
The business owner and his employees ignored clear instructions on the product box stating, “Minimum moisture barrier is 6 mil virgin polyethlyne sheet” for a concrete subfloor. Todd Homes installed no moisture barrier and didn’t provide any record of subfloor moisture testing. We wrongly assumed that they knew what they were doing.
The business owner notes that the baseboards Todd Homes installed are still in the photos I posted of all the mold they left to grow. Ding ding, correct! Not pictured is the mold on many of the baseboards (unsurprisingly spread from the mold in the Todd Homes floor) that caused us to need to replace many of these baseboards. To recap and summarize, since the business owner seems confused: Todd Homes refunded us for their botched project EXCEPT FOR REMEDIATION OF THE MOLD THEY CAUSED TO GROW.
The business owner decided to call me a child, stated that I have no honor, and asked how I sleep at night. We are all sleeping well now that we aren’t living in the mold we had growing in our house for 10 months after Todd Homes “worked” there. Thanks for asking! I hope the business owner sleeps well, knowing he caused my toddler, my pregnant wife, and then my infant to live for months with black mold growing in our house due to his company's negligence and laziness. For him to question another person’s honor, given the details in Charlie34 C.’s review (below), is just wild.
If you hire Todd Homes, good luck getting your project done well. And good luck getting them to take full responsibility for the things they mess up. -
Vincent did a great job repairing my home. There were several small problems at my house that couldn't be resolved but he easily fixed all of them. He was very efficient and quite punctual. His work has exceeded my expectations and I definitely recommend!

We had our whole house remodeled. Nervous at first, but Todd Homes made the process easy and worry free!
Dependable, honest, and quality work.
Work was completed before deadline AND came in under budget!!
Highly recommend, thanks again, Vince! -
I had a bathroom remodel as well as entire kitchen gutted and remodeled. Vincent was my project mgr who stayed on top of the crew and made sure things were done to my satisfaction. They are honest and take pride in their work. Chuck scheduled all aspects of both jobs and always replied back with answers to all my questions. Carlos did excellent carpentry in my kitchen and even custom made me a pantry door to match my new cabinets. In this ever changing world we live in where stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s etc are not stocking much inventory these days and making these guys jobs even harder; Todd Homes delivers. Thank you so much to everyone that took part in making my remodel projects exactly what I wanted!!!!!

If you’re looking for a contractor that you have to ask multiple times to show up, and eventually say they will, but ultimately they don’t, then this is the guy. Out mistake was paying in full

Highly recommend Todd Homes. Received recommendation to go with Todd Homes...and glad I did. Starting with Vince to go over updates I wanted for home and pricing....to next moving on to the team that made it happen: Scott and Chuck. Great people. They care about quality of work and client's time. Not like other companies that have left me wondering, "Hmmm....we agreed upon terms, 50% down payment...so where are you?.... oh...cannot make it this week so need to reschedule for later date.....???" Nothing like that with the Todd Homes team. Credible company. Will call on Todd Homes for future needs.

Upon moving into our home, we were looking to add some decorative touches, like crown molding and wainscoting as well as create a feature out of the living room wall. We hired Todd homes for the job and are very happy with the end result. The guys were always professional, and if there was anything that we saw that wasn’t 100% perfect they were quick to jump on it to get it fixed up and make sure we were completely happy with their work. Great communication throughout and we’re excited to live in our newly designed space. Thanks Vince & team!

I cannot say enough good things about Vince from Todd Homes! I recently purchased my first home and needed a new hot water tank- he arrived and completed the work the day I moved in so I didn’t have to wait for hot water at all!!! Pricing was extremely fair and affordable for the services provided.
Vince has also gone above and beyond to help me on multiple occasions. He came over at 8pm on a week day, well past normal business hours, to address my concerns about a leak in my home before I left town for the weekend — he drove over, fixed the problem and was gone all within an hour of me reaching out. Awesome, timely service! I will not use anyone but Vince from Todd Homes Inc now that I am a home owner! -
We hired Todd Homes to do some home repair & tile work for our Clearwater home. We are very pleased with the results. I have to give a special shout out on the tile. We had an accent wall in our master bedroom tiled - and it came out beautifully. Justo (Jay) is a master craftsman who was meticulous in his detail. This was a higher end, herringbone pattern - and he installed it perfectly. All the touch up and clean up was just what you'd want. I highly recommend him. Todd Homes is also beginning a renovation of a rental property for us next- and we're looking forward to the same excellence there.

I’m happy to write a positive review of Todd Homes.
• We hired Todd Homes to remove some old flooring and install some new flooring (about 1,300 square feet) in our home. This took place in October, 2021.
• We enjoyed finding Todd Homes employees’ cigarette butts in our garage and driveway each day. This showed that we had hired a company that really cared about and respected our home and family.
• When Todd Homes finished this project, we were immediately impressed with how our brand-new floor was buckling and cupping. Corners were popping out, which was a cool feature. It was fun to feel the flooring planks sink a half inch to the subfloor with each step. If you’ve never had a brand-new floor that pops and cracks as you walk on it, we highly recommend installing one. It was exciting to try to prevent kids and older adults from tripping over corners and edges that had popped out. The duct tape we used to cover two dozen exciting “trip zones” made our house feel like a home.
• When Todd Homes walked through and observed the floors a few weeks later, their decision to not accept responsibility struck us as responsible and admirable.
• We appreciated the opportunity to hire an independent flooring inspector. He was very impressed with how Todd Homes prepped our floor, opting for more of a sloped and unlevel approach instead of the traditional, industry-standard approach that involves leveling the subfloor. The best part was the next 6 months of phone and e-mail runaround. With Todd Homes, lack of communication makes the heart grow fonder.
• We were relieved to receive a full refund after 8 months of living with our gorgeous Todd Homes floor. As we hired a new contractor to remove and replace it, we said an emotional goodbye and assumed our Todd Homes fairytale had come to an end.
• But Todd Homes is a gift that keeps on giving. As our new contractor removed the Todd Homes floor, they revealed luscious black mold under every plank. See photos to appreciate the beauty.
• Thinking back, the allergies and frequent cold-like sicknesses in our family really built character. The bill we paid to remedy the mold immediately and prepare for new flooring was an exciting expense that was fun for us to pay.
• It turns out Todd Homes opted for a cool new approach that skipped over the flooring product’s installation instructions. Why would they waste time and energy installing the “minimum vapor barrier” for a concrete subfloor in Tampa? Why would a company feel the need to follow the very clear instructions on each package of flooring panels? A vapor barrier means no mold, and no mold means no fun.
• Todd Homes continues to live up to the highest standards of integrity and accountability. Though we requested that they reimburse us for mold clean up, they are admirably opting not to do so. We respect and appreciate their resolve.
• If you’re looking for a nice new floor that pops, cracks, buckles, comes apart, trips people, and bounces while you walk, then Todd Homes is your contractor. If you’re as lucky as we were, you might also score some mold in the deal.
Thank you, Todd Homes! -
Joi and Dan are amazing! Both were professional, knowledgeable, and timely to respond.

Professional, knowledgeable, friendly, trustworthy, responsive, high quality work. Will definitely recommend On The Level to others. We love our new bathroom remodel
-
They remodeled our kitchen, installed new flooring, and also fixed a few other issues in our newly purchased home. We cannot say enough good things about the work. We are amazed with the final product.
-
Joi and Dan are now almost ready to start 2nd phase of our remodeling in South Tampa. They smoothly took us through the 1st phase without any problems. I would highly recommend them for any project.
-
I highly recommend On the Level, Inc. We recently had them put up an above ground pool and build a deck around part of it. They did an amazing job. The deck is beautiful, and they delivered on all the details we asked for. They were able to get the job done quickly and worked around a couple unforeseen issues that popped up during the process. They are great people that truly care about quality in their work.

Joi and Dan were amazing. I had several projects to tackle, some not so easy. Joi and Dan did a great job, as did their subs. Everyone was prompt, efficient and professional. I highly recommend Joi and Dan for any of your reno needs!

We built our house down the street from Dan and Joi almost 16 years ago. We quickly became friends with them, as they are simply great people. When we were ready to do some major work creating an extensive outdoor living area, we were honestly a little hesitant to use this because we didn't want anything to happen that might get in the way of our friendship. We trusted them of course, but everyone knows what happens with construction projects, right. Well, we thankfully went with our better judgment and On The Level couldn't have done a more superb job. On more than one occasion they talked me out of doing some things they said simply wouldn't look good that I thought were awesome ideas (they were right). Needless to say, when we were ready to do a major indoor renovation last year (entire downstairs gutted, new kitchen, stairwell, upstairs landing, etc.) we called On The Level and the project turned out beyond our wildest dreams. Highly recommend Dan and Joi.

We first used On The Level to repair some flood damage in our home and a year later we hired them to add a 500 sq. ft. addition to our home in South Tampa. I cannot speak highly enough of Dan and Joi Lovely. Aside from being genuinely wonderful human beings, their work – and the work of the sub-contractors they have chosen to partner with – is simply impeccable. My wife and I had mentally planned for a stressful and frustrating experience when we decided to put an addition on our home. Dan and Joi made it easy. They were incredibly patient with us and always made time to carefully walk us through every step of the process. They even sat down with us one night before submitting our plans for permit approval and suggested ways to bring the cost of construction down several thousand dollars. Their knowledge of building codes, the hidden intricacies of old 1950s homes, and the confusing FEMA restrictions that apply to homes located in flood zones in second to none. During the construction process, we found Dan and Joi to be very communicative and accessible, and like we were always a priority in their day. We even took a vacation during our renovation and trusted Dan and Joi enough to give them the keys to our home so they could continue construction while we were away. Dan and Joi named their business perfectly. When their work is done, you can set a level on it. Since we closed the permit on our addition over a year ago, we have had absolutely zero issues with anything they were responsible for. There is no trace of sloppy or hastily completed work in our home addition. We’re currently considering a possibly kitchen renovation and have no intention of requesting bids from any other contractor but On The Level.

I highly recommend On The Level Inc. We have have worked with them for 18 years on multiple projects in our home. Two years ago they completely updated our down stairs - moved walls, plumbing, electric, A/C, new floors etc. The project was done on time and within budget.
The bottom line about On The Level with nearly 20 years of experience with this company - Dan and Joi (the owners of On The Level) are reliable, honest, and just good people when it comes down to it. Five Stars are not enough.
