From my interaction with the owner, Matt, to the crew and the work they did on our property, Gunnison exceeded our expectations. Every step of the way they were professional, friendly and knowledgeable about removing two large fallen trees from our property and elevating the canopy on a large healthy maple overlooking our patio. I was surprised how nice they left our yard after. We really cannot tell they were here! The crew did an excellent job cleaning up all debris, leaving our yard tidy and looking untouched. The maple that was lightened up looks incredible!! The did such a selective job with it! Highly recommend!!

Update: We have since used Gunnison for two more tree removal jobs, including large pines very close to the house. Each time the process was smooth and the price competitive. Still highly recommend!

I chose Gunnison Tree to remove a leaning dead pine from our yard on my brother's recommendation after they completed a large job for him. They returned the best quote for the work and communication with the office was excellent. The tree removal was completed quickly and with low to no impact on the yard. Highly recommended!

Gunnison was hired by Dominion in SC to trim and remove trees that pose a danger to power lines adjacent to my property.

They made a huge mess, pulled up my pumpkin plants for no reason and damaged my neighbor's fence. They clearly don't know one tree or shrub from another or the growth habits of anything.

They told me on 4 separate occasions that they would be back to remove 2 trees on the adjacent property that are within the easement and clearly leaning over the lines. One pine and one oak, both with very few limbs remaining and covered in vines pulling them further towards the power lines.

They spent several days over the course of about 4 months cutting down lots of small healthy trees up to 30 ft from the lines and then they collected their equipment and left. The man collecting the equipment said they don't cut trees, only trim them, and that they were not even coming back to cut the vines off. The utility company would wait for the trees to fall and do cleanup then. Either of these trees falling will push the power line into my roof. I watched them cut more than 2 dozen trees to the ground. The stumps are still there. Bullshit.

Utility companies need to send out a supervisor with these guys to make sure they're actually doing what they're contracted to do. I'll be calling Dominion first thing Monday morning.

They cut a huge chunk out of my beautiful tree. They were only supposed to cut one tree on my property and they cut two. Ga power NEVER EVER has said to cut this tree and Gunnison ruined it. It will never be the same. Terrible job. I am furious.

I experienced Gunnison clearing trees in the easement along the power lines, most likely hired by Dominion Power SC. They cut the trees from the power lines all the way to the ground, the few that was left they mutilated. There were a crew of 6 working on that Friday afternoon (4/4/2025). They left a hideous mess, leaving scarred trees, leaves, branches, logs, they left a small sapling tree bent over into the yard and shrubs along with various debris. I reached out to the CEO and various supervisors and could not find a phone number or contact information. I sent two emails with pictures explaining the terrible job done. As of 5/10/2025 I have not heard back form them and I do not believe that I will. I would not recommend this company or use this company.

Patrick Brown and Brittney Hope were amazing and awesome. The team that completed the work did a phenomenal job. Gunnison Tree Specialists are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone that I know!

This company is great! I have used them several times and would not use anyone else. They just left after removing a large fallen tree from my front yard. They got it out, smoothed over the root base which was pulled out of the ground, cleaned up thoroughly afterwards and I asked them to leave the chopped wood for me to use as mulch and they very carefully left that but didn't have a large enough chipper for the really big branches so Will offered to bring back a chip pile for me later. Best service ever! Highly recommend!

Professional, Fair and Responsive

Dreaded having to take down a 100 year old water oak in our yard.

Gunnison made it easy and worked with us to get the permitting from the City of Decatur in order to quickly do this.

They also cleared out some small trees and hedges allowing us to have a clean slate in which to do some new landscaping and planting.

We appreciate everyone on staff from Robert who first came to the house, Norma in the office and even the brave gentlemen who scaled the large tree.

Dominion should be ashamed of this group. I have called their office and never received a response. They trimmed trees around our power lines and left everything and did not clean up anything. Proceeded to get on our car port without talking to anyone. Left A fire concern now. Gunnison management should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this.

Amazing professionalism, service and enthusiasm. Emergency tree removal on a Saturday was no problem. Job executed flawlessly.

Gunnison did work at a neighbors home. They entered my driveway to assist in removing some of the neighbors tree. In the process, they destroyed about 50' of my fence and messed up my driveway. Will (sales manager?) came out to look at damage, and they have never followed up or called me back. I am now having to proceed to file police reports for the damage. I did not even hire this company, and yet they entered my property and damaged it. Run from them.

While working down the road they left a chipper at our small business, taking up 3 parking spaces. I found the company’s name on a maintenance sticker, and called. I was given the number for a field manager and left a message for that person. I then drove down the road and ask the crew to move the chipper. I asked one of the crew members if it was normal practice to leave a chipper on private property. He laughed and said, “it is cheaper this way”. Even after explaining that we needed the parking spaces that we have for our business, there was absolutely no hurry on the part of the company to move the chipper. Seeing the other reviews makes all of this makes sense, as a common practice of theirs. What is worse, the large truck they used to drop off and pick up the chipper tore branches out of our live oak tree.

These guys are the best!! Responsive, well organized, so very skillful, and respectful of my property. They cut and removed a huge oak that had fallen on my house; I highly recommend them for this delicate work.

This company showed up at my house at 730 am last Thursday to move trees off a neighbor's property, they have access rights on an easement on my property. However, they do not send their crew with a key, so he drives his tractor off the easement and through my yard and landscaping. Did not knock and ask permission. Then, Taylor dumps a load of trees on my yard in front of the easement gate. Tells me they will pick up the trees that day and fix the damage. No word for five days and no one returned my call. Buyer beware.

Update: trees were removed 7 days later. No word on if they are going to fix my yard from the damage their trespassing caused.

They seemed like such a polished, professional company at first. Will, our arborist (salesman?) came out and really validated and seemed to understand our needs. I've never been so wrong about a company.

First, there was little communication from them when rain was forecasted. This forced us to call THEM to reschedule twice. (How come their scheduling coordinators aren't more proactive? They even seemed put off when we called to ask they please reschedule given the weather...?) Secondly, when they finally did come out, Will was not on site as he'd promised. During this initial site visit, they were only able to finish part of the job due to rain. (This was in July.) We understood and agreed to reschedule so they could finish up once everything was more dry.

When Gunnison arrived for a second time, Will was again not present. Our new "arborist" immediately told us they would need to reschedule yet again because the ground was too wet for them to finish the job. We agreed with him, in part. "Can you all at least fell the trees? No need to chip everything and drag the chipper through the yard. We were just hoping the 4 trees could at least come down today." I guess they weren't listening, didn't understand, or didn't care? Because they responded by telling us we didn't know what was best FOR OUR OWN PROPERTY and that rescheduling for a fourth time was our only option. I had to argue for them to just fell the trees, no chipping at all. (Since they said coming back to chip at a later date was just "way to costly for their operation.") Not only was this pivot seemingly impossible for them, they were so condescending throughout the entire disagreement I actually started to cry.

I hope others do not have the kind of experience we had, though it looks like a trend is starting up based on these reviews. We told them we wanted to keep all of the material. They were condescending and said it was too much for us to handle. We told them to cut the logs into manageable sizes of 2 - 3'. They left huge pieces, 1 over 18' long. (I've included a picture of me cutting up these pieces since they didn't.) We told them to be careful. They didn't mind their work so an 8' piece got stuck upright in our yard (pictured). We asked them to PLEASE be careful. They left trash in our yard: water bottles, candy wrappers, food wrappers, etc.

Maybe it's the new leadership? Regardless, some real change is needed at Gunnison. I've never felt so exhausted after a site visit.

Extremely satisfied with the service provided by Gunnison Tree, from the office staff coordinating the three different crews sent out to remove our three huge dead oak trees, to the finally clean up. We have had other tree companies before and never have I had a more professional, courteous and accommodating work crew. Hats off to GTS for having such great employees!

I am not sure who hired this company. The saw truck was parked in mybyard at the end of my driveway with room to get by. When I pulled up to leave, h3 jsut pulled out across the drive in front of me and parks on my somewhat grass and plants. When I say something to him about parking in my yard, he makes itnlike it is his right because he has thenlong pole saw. Then while watching my ring camera,I watch another truck just come in and drive around my tree, wherr I am working on getting it prepared to plant grass and just parks there.

To follow up, they take off for at least 1.5 hours, leaving the chipper in my yard. The plants I said he was parked on, they decide to leave all the branches they cut down on top for over two hours, since once they came back, stayed for 30 minutes, and now it was lunch time, and damaged the little fence and solar lights I had there to show me where my plants were. Not that it was expective stuff, just the point of lack of respect for someone elses property. Then call to say something and no one calls back. Still waiting, now it has been 2.5 hours since leaving a message with a person.

This review is about the job that never was. Four weeks ago (on 10/21/25), Gunnison Tree Services advised that our 10% deposit (from 8/7/25) to prune our live oak tree was refunded to our credit card. They did so via e-mail with no explanation given. Two weeks later (on 11/5/25) since we hadn’t heard from the arborist/contact person directly, we sent him (Will) an e-mail of inquiry asking for an explanation as to why Gunnison cancelled this contract. We dealt with Gunnison for five months and during this entire time, communication was seriously lagging and lacking during the pre-prune tree process. So much, in fact, that a 6/30/25 e-mail comment to our local arborist was shared with Gunnison (Will). It read, “Sorry to make such a blunt comment, but communication is just as important a part of the process as the job itself. So far, Gunnison has failed in this regard.” To conclude the four-week timeline of this cancelled contract, this review is being submitted on 11/21/25 because it has been two additional weeks with no explanation from Will which is why (1) this one-star review and (2) we would not recommend Gunnison.

Thank you for making a bad situation worse. power company sent you to clear a very large tree limb so I can have power restored (day 6 without power). You cleared the line but also destroyed my preciously un damaged shed and didn't even bother to say anything to me. So now I STILL have to find a way to get the tree out of the way and now I need to replace a shed that cost more to assemble than it did to buy. None of this is covered by my insurance because of my deductible. I have been sobbing uncontrollably for over an hour. This is the last thing I needed to deal with.

Came through our neighborhood in south carolina, trimming trees off the power lines. Trashed my yard. No warning. Just piled everything up in my yard and broke my tiki torches spilling fluid all over my yard and butchered our oak tree.
