Let me tell you about River City heating and air. Day 1 I call the phone number listed. Give the lady a part number for my pilot ignition module, I tell her it’s bad, and I can’t get one this time of day. 4:00pm. She informs me that it will be an overtime service call, I say that’s fine and hang up the phone. Few hours later a gentleman from river city shows up, drives over the curb in front of my house, and parks on my lawn next to my driveway. Yeah, seriously! He did the same thing the following day, we will get to that later. I walk down to my basement with him, show him that my ignition module has no power. He pulls out his phone and face times some other service tech I’m assuming, and he decides that the exhaust fan is bad because it has no power. I disagree, but allow him to do his job. He takes the exhaust fan with him and leaves, assuring me he will return with a replacement early tomorrow morning. I say ok, get back here as soon as you can.

Day 2 I awake to the sound of water in my home. I have hot water heat, and a radiator on an exterior wall burst at 3 am. Space heaters couldn’t keep up. I call river city at 10 am wondering what’s going on, they tell me I will get a call soon. I hang up and wait 2 more hours with no call. I call again, and get the same thing. I then went to Mandan Plumbing and heating and purchased the parts I actually needed. The one I told river city I needed on the first call. I return home, clean up my water mess, bypass the blown radiator, install the igniter I needed, and waited for river city to return my exhaust fan.

I called again, and it is now 3 in the afternoon, get very heated with the call center employee, and this time I Finally get a call from someone with river city. I was told that the tech that has my fan had vehicle trouble this morning, and he is an older guy, that doesn’t know how to use a cell phone. I tell this guy, I’m assuming some sort of manager that I don’t care at this point, I just want my exhaust fan back. I hang up, and the service tech that was at my home the night before calls me. He tells me he has an eye doctor appointment, and he will get to my house right after that. I ask about the fan motor, and he said Eggers electric didn’t have one. I asked him if he had them test it, and he said no. He said he would return to eggers and see what they can do with it. Install new bearings, or something. They close at 5pm and it is currently 3:30.

I wait and 5 pm comes and goes, 6 pm comes and goes, I call the techs cell number, and of course no answer. I call the call center again, give that poor guy a piece of my mind. Tech finally shows up 12 hours after the time he said he would from the day before. Carrying my exhaust fan with him. He tells me Eggers tested it and it works great he doesn’t understand why it didn’t work last night. We go down to my basement, he says he needs his glasses, and goes back to his vehicle he parked on my front lawn. I installed the fan before he returned, and I told him I do not need him anymore. He charged me another hour at overtime rate to pretty much deliver my fan he held hostage for no reason.

Total bill for this fiasco was over 700 dollars for them to remove good parts, drive around with them for 24 hours, and return them for me to install.

Absolutely horrible service, horrible communication, and incompetent employees

The pictures attached are my blown radiator, the parking spot river city used on my front lawn instead of driveway, and the invoice for the parts I bought and installed.

He was very nice and did a great job. Tore apart waterline that was leaking underneath deck boards and was able to get new fittings and pipe all put back together

First of all, a great group of people with great work ethic. From estimating to scheduling to installation, very organized, professional and efficient. Would rate higher than 5 stars if it were possible to do so.

We had a project planned to add a wash sink to our garage. Scheduling was simple to get a specialist on site to go through the project and expectations. We had a quote the next day and it was very close to what we expected based on the scope of our project. Three days later we had a plumbing specialist in our home bringing the plan to life. It was very nice to work w/ the office staff and Steve did great work. We feel good about our experience and are glad that we trusted Legend w/ our home project.

Wow what amazing company! Preferred Heating & Air is the way to go on these 90° days our trailer home was so very hot! Jesse and crew of workers went out of there way to fix our central air unit, recharge freon system and told us some good ways to keep our house cool and our next steps on when they need to come back to refill he recommended some good options if there is leak in the system more affordable ways, then replacing a new central air system. The crew did incredible work today! Definitely the BEST in Bismarck, North Dakota! Thank you for making our home cool again!!! YAY! 😎

Jesse and his team were excellent from start to finish! Called on Thursday night with furnace having issues and left a voicemail received a call back within 10 minutes and diagnosed the issue over the phone the part was not available at the time but he offered to bring out heaters to get us through the night . He had someone at my house before 9 am to fix the issue and ended up finding a cracked heat exchanger . They were honest and upfront and gave me options to repair my current furnace or replace the unit. We choose to replace the unit due to the issues and the age of the unit. They had a new unit at my house by 9 am Wednesday and installed with in a few hours . They were friendly , cleaned up after themselves and made sure to explain our new unit to us throughly. I would recommend them 100 times over. Great work and awesome customer service.

This business is top tier. From the beginning, the bid was by far the most reasonable quote we received, and the communication throughout the process was excellent. They were able to get us scheduled in less than a week.

The job was originally expected to take about four hours, but because of issues caused by a previous installation done by someone else, it ended up taking much longer. Instead of cutting corners, they stayed until everything was fixed correctly. Not only did they resolve the installation problems, but they also discovered an air exchange issue we had been trying to figure out for over five years that no one else had been able to identify.

What impressed us even more was that they handled all of this within the original bid.

My wife and I have been remodeling our house for over a year now, last fall we decided to bite the bullet and install a new furnace, central air, and ducting in our 100 year old 2 story house. I called 3 local heating and air companies... Dustin was the most courteous, not pushy by no means, very prompt, gave us options, and he was looking out for our best interest. No sugar coating with Dustin, and I appreciated that. The crew came out and got to work shortly after we chose A-1 for their services. They kept their work areas clean, and the finished product showed craftsmanship. When all was finished our final bill was honored from the original quoted price. A-1 is very customer oriented and puts "QUALITY" over "quantity"! I would highly recomend them!
