We have a gas fireplace and started to smell gas whenever we used it. Called English Sweep and Jeff came out. Right away pointed out the problem we were having and didn’t charge us for the visit. I appreciate the service. I will use and refer them moving forward.

I reached out to this company through their website to ask about upgrading and replacing my vent-free gas fireplace. They responded quickly by phone but informed me there would be a $249 fee for an inspection to determine which new fireplace would be suitable. Essentially, they were charging nearly $250 just to provide an estimate for a replacement. In my opinion, this approach doesn’t seem customer friendly. Perhaps their main focus is chimney cleaning rather than selling and installing gas fireplaces.

Kyle came out today to inspect our flue stack. We had an inner line flue pipe that was detached. We had 2 other companies come out to inspect it and said that we needed a whole new firebox and flue pipe. Kyle took the time to get on the roof and inspect the pipe and was able to fix our issue! We can't say enough about how wonderful he was! He was very friendly and super knowledgeable! We will be using English Sweep for all of our fireplace needs going forward and will recommend them to everyone we know!

Kyle with English Sweep was BEYOND helpful. This company is honest about when there is no problem to fix and don’t just blindly charge you to take advantage of a customer.

English Sweep technician Greg Smith came out to inspect our fireplace firebox and flue. This is the first time having them inspected since we lived here. We chose English Sweep because of the great reviews. Greg showed up on time and ready to work. During the inspection he mentioned about possibly having the box and flue cleaned. He went ahead with that after the inspection. Greg was thorough and neat. When he was done he left everything clean. We will definitely use English Sweep again when we need to. I had a restoration done on my massive chimney and flue.

We are very happy with the large, heavy duty smooth wall liner that was used to ensure great draft.(fire burns great now!). They made sure to have the ideal diameter for my opening. (not all of bids i got from other companies did this!) The pointing was done well; the lock-top is awesome.
This company went out of it's way to make sure my job was perfect, albeit with some delays. (Book these guys in spring when they aren't so busy!)

The English Sweep replaced my very old and failing chimney and did a great job. Everyone I dealt with, from the office staff to the appraiser to the technicians who performed the work, were professional and courteous. The office kept me informed about the progress of my appointment and the appraiser and technicians were punctual, friendly and efficient. Overall a great experience.

Greg Smith did an outstanding job replacing the chase cover, storm collar, and flue cap on my chimney. Arrived right on time for the appointment, worked hard through the heat and humidity, and completed the job as planned and scheduled. Highly recommend Greg and his company.

This is a fantastic company to work with! We had a crack in our clay pipe all the way out chimney and they replaced it with a steel pipe. Easy to work with, professional, cleaned up all the mess and protected all the area around the fireplace. We could not be happier with all the work they did. I highly recommend them!

Greg was available early so he came and we decided that I just needed an inspection since I’m going to a wood burning fireplace. He told me I need to do a few things first but not a big deal.
He was very pleasant and efficient.

We have an old woodchuck furnace that has not been working properly since English Sweep, replaced the pipe during covid. It smokes out the seams, and we can no longer use it. I've been complaining to them since the install. First they said we needed to raise the stack, but that was not true. We raised the stack and it did nothing. It smoked out the seams when it never had before the install. Last time they stopped by, they said it was because the chimney was dirty; however, we've only used it about 5 times since the install due to the hazards it's presenting.

I had a handyman take a look at it recently and he said it appears the pipe was installed incorrectly. I called English Sweep AGAIN only to have the guy, not look at the pipe install and blame me for a dirty chimney. The furnace has barely been used because of the install, so I'm certain the issue is not a dirty chimney. It' has been smoking since the install and we can no longer use the wood burning furnace. In the meantime,

I've been contacting other chimney experts and the install is bad. Not only is the install bad, but English Sweep used thinner pipe than required and certain aspects of the install do not meet safety code. It us unsafe and I cannot use it until it is corrected.

Do not use this company for any major repairs. It could cost you your life!

Was not impressed with the service we received. We had our chimney swept, gas fireplace serviced and our dryer duct cleaned. The chimney sweep he did a good job.
The gas fireplace service he cleaned the logs, loosened up the sand, added some extra sand and replaced the embers. That night we fired up the fireplace and it only stayed lit for a couple of minutes. He did not clean the thermocouple or check the pilot light. I had to clean the thermocouple the next day to fix the problem.
The dryer cleaning he got a lot of lint out of the duct, but all the lint he left on the yard and bushes. The floor behind the dryer was filthy, he did not clean up his mess back there.
All this cost us over $600. Was not worth it. I would not recommend English Sweep after our experience.

I had a great experience with English Sweep! Greg S. originally came out to clean and assess our wood burning chimney. Ultimately, he gave us a very honest and candid assessment that our chimney was not suitable to keep using else we might be putting our home at risk. He was not pushy at all about getting us to purchase a liner or any major repairs -- he simply offered us solutions and waited patiently for us to make up our minds.

After a few months, we finally landed on a decision to put in a gas liner. Greg was happy to help talk us through the options, ran about 15 quotes, and pointed us towards all resources we would need to make it happen. After several more months and few (major) bumps in a road, we finally got our liner installed and LOVE it after a few weeks of use.

One of our fireplaces started leaking during heavy rains and after multiple repairs and having work done on the roof, we still had leaking. We contacted English Sweep and they were able to solve the issue. Kyle was great to work with throughout the process and their entire team provided excellent service. We highly recommend English Sweep for their knowledge, service and workmanship. We will definitely use them in the future.

I called English Sweep about maintenance for the gas fireplaces in my home. The pilot light on one was not staying lit, the other we have never used in the 3 years living here. Jeff, the technician, called in advance to let me know he was on the way. He was efficient and answered every question I asked in details I understood. If you have a fireplace maintenance need give them a call.

English Sweep came out for an inspection and maintenance in early January. It was the first inspection in quite a few years. Mr Gregory Smith was the man on site and he was the complete professional. All needed items were accomplished quickly and very well documented.
