We could not be more grateful for the Sims and Sons team. We had water damage to our circuit breaker that required a full replacement urgently. The team came out extremely quickly to assess the situation, and had a wonderful group out to fix the problem expediently (in fact, they had the job DONE before any other company could even complete an accurate assessment for us.. and before two even called us back)!

The weather damage that caused us to need an electrician was extensive, but they took extra caution and a LOT of time to leave our home in significantly better shape than it was before they came, even taking steps to clear off our roof and add additional seal to keep us safe from the elements moving forward.

I found all interactions with every member of the team to be respectful, kind, and responsive. Having any amount of work done on your home is stressful, especially when it’s a significant repair, and they made the process as stress-free as possible.

Many thanks to Darrell, Kemal, Dylan, Slobadan, and Muo for your spectacular work. Sims and Sons will be our go-to for all future concerns, and I highly recommend them for any job that needs done.

I cannot recommend Darrell and his team highly enough. My AC was out and I had a replacement scheduled. Before that happened, I needed several electrical conduits rerouted in my utility closet to allow access to the AC unit. My original electrician ghosted me last minute and I was scrambling. As they say, everything happens for a reason.

Sims and Sons understood my urgency and made room for me in their schedule last minute and I could not be more thankful. During the project, we discovered the original solution wasn't feasible (no fault of Sims and Sons, result of prior remodeling). Darrell was able to come up with a solution over the phone with his guys and had it implemented the next day. He was upfront with me about options, timing, and costs.

Everyone I dealt with was easy to work with, talk to, and kept me in the loop on everything. From Dylan who came out for the initial scoping of the project and final walkthrough to John and Slobodon who were there routing the lines and installing my new subpanel.

My AC contractors were happy and able to complete the install in just 2 days thanks to the efforts of Sims and Sons. I'm definitely bringing them back to do lighting work in the next few weeks.

Darry was great when I sent inquires on getting new panel installed for the purchase of my new home! He gave accurate information and fair pricing. I schedule with him and they communicated wonderfully! The day before the install I got a message confirming everything. The day of the install they showed up on time with a phone call stating they are on the way! Anel was great. He was very polite and cleaned up everything! I highly recommend them!

I decided to steam some clothes on a Sunday evening- fast forward the breaker shorted and we lost electricity to all 3 bedrooms. I called 4 different electricians, and Sims & Sons were the only ones to call back, and immediately! They came that day, fixed the issue SO quickly, and identified the major electrical issues affecting our condo. A few weeks later they came back, spent about 9 hours rewiring things (4 workers too!) and I can tell you they did a fantastic job. Darrell is so friendly, knowledgeable, and just a great honest guy. Dylan and the rest of the team were amazing too, they even worked around my daughter's nap schedule. In addition, they fixed some minor things they came across that had been poorly done by other workers in the past. Darrell gave us recommendations for a few other projects too. Highly highly recommend. I don't want any more electrical issues, but Darrell and his team will be our go-to should we need anything!

Work was done in a timely manner and at an affordable rate but this damage to the wall and around the socket plate that I painted only a week ago seems inexcusable for a GFCI replacement

Update: They reached out to me and provided their own drywall specialist to fix this and even painted it themselves with my can of touch up. I am very happy with this level of dedication and will be using this company in the future.

I had an issue with a light fixture. A member of the Sims & Sons team came and after evaluating the light he was able to make an adjustment and fixed it immediately. He didn’t charge me! I couldn’t believe it….so professional and helpful. Would highly recommend using their services.

Darrell from Sims and Sons has always delivered excellent service. He and his team have done a wonderful job helping withthe installations of new outlets, lighting, and smart home integration at my home. We recently asked Darrell to help install outlets in the bathrooms of my mother's apartment so that we could conveniently plug in bidets. He was very quick and efficient in throughout the job and communication was easy; Darrell understood exactly what we wanted and made sure that we were aware of how he was going to implement a solution. I highly recommend Darrell and his team's services if you have any electrical problem or improvements you have been seeking help for.

Darrell helped me so much! My smoke detector would not stop beeping even after changing the battery, doing a hard reset on the detector, and everything I could think of. I called and was more than willing to have them come for an emergency weekend call, but Darrell walked me through how to do a temporary fix until my landlord can send someone out Monday. He is an absolute angel!

I highly recommend their services, and will be calling them for any future problems.

Sims & Sons was so impressive when I called, panicked about an issue in our house. The professional I spoke with was honest about whether we needed an emergency appointment and walked me through doing a temporary fix myself instead to save us from paying unnecessarily, before we do a full repair. He was extremely helpful, kind, and honest, and I am really impressed with their customer service.

We had both plumbing and electrical done in our home with Sims & Sons. A few small electrical things were done easily and promptly and our plumbing needs (3 new toilets, haul away, and a new full shower set) was done thoroughly. Charles, our main plumber, was incredible. Thoughtful and transparent, he talked us through the entire process anytime there was a decision to be made or something unexpected. We could sense he really cared about his work and was going to take the time to make sure it was done right.

We are very happy with the results and would highly suggest Charles and staff for your home’s needs.

Our only quibble: scheduling. It was TERRIBLY challenging to get the office to respond with our quote and to then schedule once we received the quote. Be vigilant and they will get back to you eventually. It took us a month from quote until service even though we know they had openings the week after our estimate. Hoping they can address the office issues in the future for easier customer service and acquisition.

I had these guys fix an electrical issue in the garden unit of a three-flat. They were on time, knowledgeable, priced reasonably, and also super chill dudes. I am definitely going to hire them again if needed. Thanks Darrel and Dylan!

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Darryl! He offered to help me find the circuit breaker in my old apartment over FaceTime at 11:30pm just to help me out. He was incredibly knowledgeable and gave top notch customer service.

One of the nicest guys. The owner answered the phone after just returning from his honeymoon and was very excited to help out a customer. I called him panicked as I just took all the power out by mistake in my condo while my wife was working from home. He immediately FaceTimed me and walked me through the building to flip the right breakers and get power restored FREE OF CHARGE. Classic Chicago experience with a stand up guy, don’t go elsewhere. Highly recommend.

Darrell was great! Came out to give an estimate for installing an EV charger in my garage. Showed me my options and was at the same price point as my other estimates, but included a couple of extras the others did not. Was available to start right away and did a fast, but very thorough and professional installation. Could not be happier with the service and quality. Will use again in the future!

I cannot say enough great things about this company. During the weekend our Air Conditioner went out and after having it replaced, the breakers blew overnight on Monday. It was a miracle it didn't cause a fire to our home.

Given that I have two young children at home, we needed a quick solution. The owner of Sims and Sons called me immediately, diagnosed the issue and was able to come the next day to completely replace the circuit board, breakers, wiring and AC connection. It turns out the inspector completely missed that the panel / breakers were non-compliant and this was a huge risk.

The owner Darrell helped troubleshoot and identify the issue beforehand via Facetime. Dylan was fantastic not only helped with electrical wiring of fuse box but was able to correct a long-standing issue with overhead lights. Dylan had updated me his ETA and had a clear line of communication at all times. Wonderful hospitality and customer service from this group! Would highly recommend their services to anyone!

Dylan and Timothy were able to get us in within a few days, and did a fantastic job. They explained clearly what needed to be done, and why. And were kind enough to show us a few areas in our older homes dry wall that we should watch out during our upcoming construction project. They were great about communicating during each step of the project, even though it only took a few hours. We did come out over the initial quote, but this was because the previous area was not up to code, something that could not be predicted. I am grateful that Timothy and Dylan were able to identify that, explained it well, and made sure perform a high quality installation that keeps our home safe. Thank you! I recently had the most wonderful experience working with Sims & Sons for an electrical project in my Ukrainian Village condo. Darrell (owner) and his amazing team of Timothy and Dylan made a complicated project so easy for us and we are thrilled with the results. They replaced old track lighting in our kitchen with modern pendant lights. The entire team was communicative, punctual, professional and so kind throughout the process. Timothy and Dylan even went above and beyond to do extra caulking so the pendants would look perfect. I highly recommend Sims & Sons, and look forward to working with them again!
