My experience with Budget Construction was stellar. Sales Specialist Michael Rose was impeccable. He was very knowledgeable and the price for my kitchen fit my budget.

Timely, Fast, Neat, Personable, Affordable. Not many more accolades I can add for my experience with Budget Construction. I called on Monday, they came on Wednesday, we talked. Following Friday, they found a financial institution to finance the project. Monday they were there to demo the kitchen. Two weeks later to the day, the job was completed. Perfect scenario.

I contacted Budget for an estimate for a backyard deck , appointment was set a week earlier. Got a phone call to tell me he was running late the saleperson started off explaining how the virus has affected them, he then asked me if I was sitting. $14,000 is what he said would cost me for my deck. Totally blew me away since my estimates were $3-$4000 . Waiting for him to laugh or tell me he was joking I realized he was not joking. Again $14,000 estimate for the same deck and work I'm getting for thousands less. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE...CALL AROUND TO OTHER PLACES BUT STAY AWAY FROM BUDGET .$14,000

After an unfortunate fire at our restaurant, Budget Construction was able to work quickly and efficiently to get our repairs done so we could reopen as soon as possible. They were a pleasure to work with. Excellent quality work and friendly staff from the office to the workers on site. Highly recommend.

It’s been a while the problem is still here they remodeled my kitchen and my back porch in the basement they said they can enclose the pipes in the basement. Bad job he has a duck when you go down in the basement now the kitchen all the clothes were on one wall not where I drew them to be. My back porch they put on top of the grass did not submit them down into the grass so the porch still rocky. Can’t afford to get it fixed it’s been years I still haven’t gotten six but I would never use them again. I called him and told him they got their money because I thought they did a good job. They said if I let them come back and do all the work they will fix it. I said no and they never fixed it.I did report them to the better business bureau.I will never forget this Expensive Nightmare.

I hired budget construction to do some work for me I had them replaced my roof and build me a fence they did a wonderful job and they gave me a great price

When my wife and I decided to upgrade our upstairs attict into useful space (i.e., 2 bedrooms and a bathroom), we chose Budget Construction Company. We researched various companies relative to their experience, expertise, efficiency, effectiveness, quality and price and found them to fit our expectations and budget.

Michael Rose, their sales agent, was friendly and courteous and understood what we wanted. He painstakenly took his time to review the space and quickly provided us with ideas of what could be done with the budget we had in mind. We mutually agreed on a contract with details of what we wanted, the corresponding prices and the start and ending of the project.

What was amazing was the seemless resiprocity between us and their outstanding work crew throughout the entire project process, their efficiency, effectiveness , cleanliness, and timeliness. The end result was an incredible transformation that met our expectations at the cost we mutually agreed on!

called to get an estimate on garage had an appointment never showed up . I called the office, some woman who I do not think knew what she was talking about said they tried calling me the day before to say they could not make it. Never received any message , or phone call from this company. I asked if they could reschedule. They now say that written estimates cost money , not according to the website. I just don't think they wanted the job and or to drive to Waukegan. Bad business, and they are recommended by the BBB?? Really what a joke.

My bathroom remodeling project was assigned to the subcontractor from Hell. He came on the scene complaining angrily that he was ripped off, because the Budget Construction salesman told him he didn’t have to purchase any supplies, but the contract paperwork showed there were some. His mission was to reduce and hurry the work and to minimize supply purchases.

There were continuous careless workmanship mistakes which had to be corrected, such as installing a vent cover vertically over a horizontal opening, one electrical outlet to safety and contract specifications and the other one not, or the threshold in a position which prevented the door from closing. Some mistakes couldn’t be corrected. For example, a lot of the tub finish was removed at the bottom of the tub, and all of it was removed in a seven by twelve inch area above the tub drain.

The worst was the plumbing. About a week after installation, no-one at the site, the toilet tank fell against the wall, leaking water onto the floor and revealing that the toilet was not installed perpendicular to the wall. The bathtub spigot isn’t flush with the tub wall, sticks out 3/8 inch from the wall on one side, due to a crooked incoming pipe. A leaky joint where the PVC below meets the metal tub drain kit was deemed unfixable by the subcontractor. Turns out the water was coming from all the metal joints above it, mainly because not enough threading tape was used when assembling the kit. No sealant was used under the tub drain flange. The final delay for project completion was waiting for delivery of missing water mixer parts.

The workers were unavailable for two days after the start of the project and left the site with a day’s work not done yet. A few off and on, short duration return visits were attempted to complete the project. The project’s expected duration was a week or so. The actual duration was two months.

No sealing or caulking was done until I provided the requisite supplies during the return visits. The workers were more careless than before. For example, the caulk between the inset window and the shelf in the shower area had a lot of leaky gaps on the window side where the caulk didn’t adhere. After correcting this problem, the leaky gaps were on the other, shelf side the of caulk instead.

The subcontractor refused to use the material provided for the inset window shelf. He said it was the wrong size and couldn’t be cut. He wanted to use the previous shelf instead. When I provided the step by step instructions which I got by calling the company, he exploded into a shouting rage at me. I had insulted his materials knowhow and site authority. With Budget Construction’s help, he agreed to use the material provided but at the last minute he decided to send the material to the company to be cut, thereby threatening a project delay of four to six weeks which the company requires for its orders. The next day, I tried to convince the lead workman that the material could be cut. He told me not to worry and showed me a new masonry blade. All that, just to avoid the purchase of a tool part!

More thousands of dollars went to Budget Construction than competitive offers for the job. The Budget Construction attitude toward my troubles was mostly indifferent and mercenary. The salesman came to collect the balance for the job before the customer inspection and sign off part of the contract. When I complained about known deficiencies, he pressured me to pay minus an amount to be accounted for later. At the end, I wanted to fix something that technically was not an installation defect. This last task cost me $800 for less than two hours of skilled work. They just wanted to get me out the door.

Budget was hired to install a new HVAC system, a new roof and paint the interior of house. It took three months and I had to make them come back to complete the project. Some of the worst work I’ve ever seen. The HVAC was installed in November, and it’s now end of May, it doesn’t work at all, it’s 90 degrees in my house, I’ve called, I’ve emailed... nothing. My mother has them work on my childhood home 20 years ago and then they were wonderful, now just an overpriced, underwhelming General contractor.

Just trying to get an estimate from this company was a humiliating and upsetting experience. Even though I expressed in the Homeadvisor.cm notes that my project was an install job only, they called and came out for a free estimate right away. When he was here and after I told him what I wanted done he nearly laughed and asked "is that it?" and said that the job was too small and he'd charge $3,500 just to install a shower door, lights, vanity, mirror, and a sink. "Is that even what you want to spend?" he asked?... and then he went on to say "You're not from Chicago are you?" for some reason and then went on to talk about how great and big his company is. I've been here six years, sorry I never heard of you. Nor will i ever recommend this company to even get a free estimate. What a waste of my time and what an extremely rude and upsetting experience to be treated like that in my own home. Zero respect or courtesy.

I had a great experience with using Budget construction. They remodeled my bathroom on schedule all while keeping me below budget. Not many places I can say can accomplish that. Not too mention the professionalism was great! They easily answered any concerns I had. I would definitely consider using them a second time around

I wanted back steps and cellar doors. I called 2 companies, first company was Budget Construction. Michael was wonderful. He lesson to what I had to say and what I needed. I'm a caregiver to my mom (89). He understood, and he will get back to me in a couple of day (this way I can speak to the other co.).Michael came back, and I said I wanted Budget for my project. But i had a change, I wanted a deck, with all this covid 19 stuff, my mom can now go out. Michael and I sat down went over the contract, and price. After I sign the contract I had peace in my heart, it was the right thing. Michael and Chris (his right handman) came by and told me this is how all this is going to be done. Chris is a nice guy, he always kept me informed when what were and who. Chris's carpenter came with his son and father-in-law.Very nice people, polite and caring. I asked the carpenter if he would installed my flag pole holder. Old Glory never looked so beautiful. My deck is beautiful. Chris came by w/ another guy, and built new cellar doors. They were done in no time. I made the right decision, to go with Budget. I recommend them, and I will call them back for other projects

I wanted a country look kitchen. They worked hard to give me the vision. They successfully got it done!

We put off having our kitchen remodeled for ages because of the horror stories we’d heard about such projects dragging on and on for months. Budget Construction proved to be a pleasant surprise from start to finish. Our galley-style kitchen needed a complete teardown—floor, cabinets, walls, ceiling. The personable Michael R. wrote up the proposal, Krzysztof O. oversaw the teardown, the ordering and delivery of materials (cabinets, countertops, one appliance), and the overall reconstruction. He was in frequent contact, giving us updates at least every other day. Two skilled workmen spent seven full days on site over the course of two weeks and a day, cleaning up after themselves at the end of each workday and staying late on the last day to finish the job. We are delighted with the results, an absolutely brand new and functional kitchen, a result beyond expectations.

Don and his team did a great job with our home! It looks gorgeous. He did not skim on materials. Everything is high quality and long lasting; I would recommend this company to my neighbors. He worked with our budget. I am looking into having him come out and help us with another room.
