The Vanguard team were very professional. From the moment I called, Jan handled himself quickly, courteously, providing detail (including basic costs up front) and quality customer service. I have used Vanguard plumbing for several projects in my home, including installing 6 ball type valves, inspecting ejector pump and plumbing fixtures, replacing toilet, replacing existing valves on main water lines with ball valves, and replacing kitchen faucet and installing new angle stops. The work he has done for me on those several visits has uniformly been of high quality with no problems.

I got quotes from several places which were significantly cheaper but I will say Jan and his team were worth the price. No one had any idea how to fix my model of toilet (we had an issue with constant water running, and the tank was built into the wall, European style), but Jan looked and knew immediately what was wrong. Within a few hours everything was back to running perfectly. He even found a weakened water line which saved us paying tons of expenses in damages should it have leaked. We would definitely reach out again in the future, they were very professional, communicated clearly and upfront, and did an outstanding job.

We have used Vanguard for some other plumbing issues. So when our water heater pilot light wouldn't stay lit, we called Vanguard first. Jan asked for some pictures via email and then stopped by after a call. He recommended we do a full replacement after assessing our water heater.

He listened to our needs and looked at the existing system which included a recirculating pump. He made his recommendations along with an option to replace the pump. We agreed with replacing it all.

The next day his team showed up bright and early to get started. Jan stopped by to go over any questions. The team was quick to remove the old heater and then install the new one. Appreciated that they were able to get a new heater and installed in about 24 hours!

Would use Vanguard again and recommend them!

We have now used Vanguard Plumbing and Sewer on three separate projects — kitchen sink / garbage disposal replacement, ejector pit replacement, and toilet repair / replacement. Their customer service and communication is why we will continue to use them for future projects. Vanguard is my go to plumbing company. They've been doing work at my residence from installing my sump pump system to other plumbing work. They do a great job and are knowledgeable. Jan always has great recommendations for improvements. I highly recommend the company.

I had a great experience with Vanguard. They requested photos of the two issues I was having, and I received a call from Jan to discuss in detail his suggestions based on what he was seeing. I was able to get the main concern, a clogged bathtub, resolved quickly. The technician who came was very helpful and explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it that way. I'm very satisfied and will use them again in the future!

If I had known that Jan's copper plumbing was going to be so beautiful, I would have asked him to install it inside the room insted of inside the wall.

I spoke to several companies about my project. Vanguard was the only one that found a balance between what I wanted and what my 130 year old house needed. Jan resolved the complicated venting and draining issues and created an elaborate system in my basement bathroom and kitchen which will be invisible and take up no space. Best of all, I didn't have to add another vent out the roof.

Jan and his crew were funny, personable and very experienced. They earned my trust with the work they performed and the knowledge they shared. I'd have no trouble recommending them for any size job.

Jan did an amazing job replacing my water heater. Jan was responsive, turnaround an accurate quote via pictures, was timely, and more importantly on budget. He also had the foresight to make adjustments so when my second water heater goes the install will go smoothly. I also have an older home so this is not a simple task and some plumbers would have taken short cuts.

04/27/2024: After conducting careful research and comparing plumbing companies, I landed on Vanguard Plumbing. The reviews sounded almost too good to be true, but my experience was consistent with other reviewers. From the beginning of our conversations, the owner, Jan Pietraszek, asked a lot of questions and provided solid advice. He gave me options and price points, then let me decide which ones felt most comfortable. It felt like a partnership rather than a vendor/client relationship, which I really appreciated. When Jan and his colleague, George, arrived on the agreed-upon date, they found more issues than we had anticipated, yet they took everything in stride and handled the situation like pros. I couldn't be happier with the work they performed in our kitchen, bathrooms and toilets, and it was definitely worth the money. In fact, we're preparing to do more work with Vanguard and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services to friends.

Vanguard is well known in our neighborhood for doing great work. I'll add on that - they are also wonderful at communication and follow up. We used them many years ago in a different location for some sewer work, and more recently had them in to help with a couple of tricky bathroom problems. It's so nice to have our bathrooms back in working order! We're planning our next projects with them as our preferred vendor and looking forward to working with this trusted partner.
