Upon discovering that we very much needed a plumber, I called Vanguard. Jan’s response was prompt and the upfront process transparent. 24 hrs. later, our plumbing problem was fixed. Everything about the experience was what one wants in a time of need – both thoroughly professional and also personable. I’ve no reservation in recommending Vanguard.

Great service! We had a long task list of things that needed to get done in our house and Jan was an absolute machine! He was very friendly, professional and took the time to explain everything he was encountering as he did tasks. Somehow he was able to still accomplish it all in one day! Vanguard replaced two water heaters and revamped the set up. in my condo building. We received quotes from other plumbers and it was clear that Vanguard was far more experienced and skilled than others we spoke with. When I first reached out to Jan about a new sump pump and backup install he requested pictures so he can accurately provide an estimate. I loved this because it allowed me to get an idea of what I am going to need to invest without wasting any time having someone come to my house. Within minutes I had an estimate emailed to me.

After deciding to go with Vanguard his team showed up a day later and they did an amazing job and they were extremely professional.

This is where Vanguard took it to the next level with customer services and support. After spending a small fortune on this new sump pump system the alarms were going off more than what I would expect. Jan immediately took charge of the situation and worked with the manufacture to have my system upgraded due to a small defect. A few days later he was over to install the upgraded system.

We thought our issues were over but the story doesn't end here. We had a different alarm going off after the upgraded was installed so after sending Jan a couple of videos he was back over to trouble shoot the system. Jan went over every part and figured out a different part of the system was defected. Luckily he had a brand new replacement part in the truck.

It has been a week since Vanguard and Jan completed their work and I really couldn't be happier with all the attention and service we got. Obviously there is some disappointment with the manufacture of the pump but that isn't on Vanguard.

At the end of the day Vanguard and Jan stood by their work, they stand by the products, and the went the extra mile to make sure I was happy.

Vanguard was very professional, with excellent communication both before and after the appointment. They resolved the leak we originally called about and even took care of an additional kitchen sink issue that wasn’t part of the original scope. I bought an older home in 2020 and have had to do a good amount of plumbing work - since the first job, I've used nobody but Vanguard and I will continue to do so in the future. They have been great at handling all scales of matters - from clearing a kitchen sink drain to replacing a basement's worth of corroded pipes and valves - with promptness, precision, and professionalism. They have routinely identified followup matters that I will want to look into when fixing something else. Both unit water heaters, all the main pipes, and several small fixtures were their work and I have had no problems at all since they completed everything.

We had Jan replace an old outdoor spigot with a new freezeproof one with shutoff valve. Working with Jan was great - he's a clear communicator, scheduling was easy, and the work was very professional. He also took the time to answer in detail my questions about other aspects of our home's plumbing system. Pricing was consistent with other quotes we received. He's the first person I'll call for future plumbing work.

Jan is a skilled plumber. Gave me a preliminary diagnosis on my issue with my basement toilet and shower drain backing up. Arrived on time on the day he was scheduled to come by and fixed the issue I had. Cleaned the ejector pit, that was full of roots, and installed a new ejector pump. This solved my issue. Competent, on time, and able to fix my somewhat complex plumbing issue on the first try. Happy

Surprise plumbing problems are never fun. When you wake up in the morning and find streams of water in your basement it can ruin your day.
Luckily, Jan and his team at Vanguard are not only responsive (hard to get that these days without run around), professional, but most of all perfection is their goal. I was walked step by step through the process with updates on cost. Site was left clean and I was able to relax not having dripping water.

Jan and his team are exceptional. Never have I felt this good about hiring a trades person.

Not only were they the most competitive quote to replace our water heaters and redo some under sink plumbing, but they went above and beyond with their work (finding gas leaks, obtaining a special tool and coming back to fix the remaining leaks). I also had them jet clean our sewer and they did a fantastic job with that too - finding a broken pipe under the street and setting up a city inspection.

Jan answers your calls and emails, explains what he is doing and why, and takes pride in this work. I feel really lucky to have found Vanguard. Do not hesitate to give them a call!

They were really good about communicating during the estimate, scheduling, keeping us updated with work being done, and showing us how to care for our new water heater. They arrived right on time, got a lot of work done in 7 hours. And I loved that he checked to make sure the problem was fixed before he left. Our last plumber changed a cartridge and left. Vanguard has some integrity!

Vanguard did an excellent job helping with a unique project that other plumbing companies were not able to solve. I was looking to convert my double basin sink to a single basin, and Jan was a huge help from the initial phone conversation, to connecting me with another contractor who could modify the countertop, to completing a clean and great looking install. Jan and George installed a new faucet, garbage disposal, and connected the remaining plumbing fixtures. They worked efficiently, communicated clearly, and left the work site clean. 10/10 would recommend for any plumbing work!

It's simple. Jan is the greatest plumber on the planet. He is not only the consummate professional but explains everything that he sees and proposes before the work is done. And the work will get done - Jan will execute and take care of your issues, almost over the top. Our home is over 100 years old and had massive root issues in the sewer line. After wasting money on a number of incompetent companies I finally found someone who cared.

Jan did a bunch of work for us. Toilet repair, sump pump replacements, and an ejector pump upgrade. He is meticulous and clearly cares about doing a good job and explaining it to you so you understand the details. I appreciate that and plan to use him on our next plumbing project too.

Vanguard was very professional and did had a great system for intake. They did a great job replacing the spout to my shower. It looks like it was always there. They choose hardware that matches the rest of the shower really well too. I would definitely call them again.

Vanguard was very knowledgeable, honest, and professional. We had a new sump system installed and they took the time to present different options and after the work was completed they helped with a full overview on use and maintenance of the system in a very patient way. The quality of work was top-notch.

We had an emergency on Sunday that our shower valve cartridge was broken and stuck in the valve. We couldn’t turn the water on considering water may gush out from that valve and cause water damage to the walls. I was lucky enough to find Derek. He came within 2 hours and was able to take the cartridge out however since the housing was chipped by us, he couldn’t salvage it. He came back today and changed the valve for us. What a life saver! He is very experienced, personable, and reasonably priced. On top of that, he was available on a Sunday evening. I can’t express how much I appreciate his business in our neighborhood. I highly recommend.
