I had a small drip leak on a fitting connecting two pipes for my hot water supply together. I have galvanized pipes and know that those pipes may cause water pressure issues due to sediment. I asked the plumber if there would be any issues with the galvanized pipe or from the galvanized pipes due to this repair, and if I should consider completely replacing the pipes altogether. They assured me there was no need to do that and that this was an isolated drip leak that I should fix, there would be no impact to the broader system.

Once the repair was done and after they got the water back on, my water pressure was so low that there was only a drip out of the kitchen sink. I asked the plumber what to do and he said “your pipes are galvanized so you’ll have to replace them if you want better water pressure. I told you before I did the repair that this could happen” (which was not true, he said nothing before the repair) and then left us SOL with low water pressure. I found out the next day when I tried to use my dishwasher that it wouldn’t even start anymore because the water pressure was too low.

I called Apex to express my frustration about this since I had explicitly asked ahead of time if we should be considering replacing the galvanized pipes. They sent the same plumber back out to look at what’s going on. He was incredibly defensive and offered no solutions. When I called the office again, they said the owner’s son would call me to further discuss what can be done but I never got a call back.

Ironically, in the end, I (using ChatGPT with no prior DIY experience) was able to repair the low water pressure on my own by changing the T joint at the water supply line in my kitchen and flushing the lines to my sink and dishwasher, but Apex didn’t even suggest that. I would have even considered paying them to fix that but they jumped right to saying there was no solution other than replacing all the pipes and that we were SOL.

For a licensed plumber, I expect more. ChatGPT did a better job solving my water pressure issues than this plumber!!

Marco visited our building, assessed the problem, and installed two new Bradford hot water heaters. He changed the way the hot waters were plumbed from one feeding into the other (series) to both of the new heaters simultaneously feeding the building (parallel).

He did beautiful work with crimped connections, it really is almost like piece of art and incredibly he and his assistant did all the work in one day (including removing the old water heaters and buying the new ones).

I use Apex for all of my plumbing needs and last night reminded me why. Like many others experiencing this deep freeze in Chicago I had a pipe burs Sunday evening. Luckily I caught it right away and called Apex. They knew who I was as a loyal customer and got Alec out to my house the same evening. The pipe was fixed and our water was back on in time to put my kids to bed and ready for school the next morning.

We had a plumbing emergency at 11PM! Our unit’s main water pipe started to leak and wouldn’t stop. We weren’t sure if it was leaking inside the wall. We called several companies with no one willing or available to come out. Luckily, Joey and V at Apex Plumbing were willing to come out and help. They made sure the emergency was handled, and came back asap to fix the issue. They were super personable, and willing to educate us on our plumbing and how everything works. We trust them with any plumbing issues in the future!

Parked in front of my home to service the neighbor's house across the street, but threw his dirty orange disposable work gloves in the snow in my yard next to his red van. Wonder he would appreciate someone doing the same in front of his residence?

I was referred to Dunbar made an appointment for Monday, came I waited for over several hours no show so I tried to call but was blocked…..BAD business. Black businesses need to step and be professional.

This company did an amazing job rodding out my main plumbing line and cleaning/deodorizing my catch basin. The owner also figured out why I had sewage backup. Thanks for your amazing service.

I was referred to this company. I called twice yesterday and LVM with no answer/ or call back. Called again this morning and a gentleman answered who asked me about the issue I was having. Mid sentence he hung up. I thought maybe it was a mistake so I called back--and it went straight to VM. I figured, he was trying to call me back at the same time but when I called a second time he picked up and hung up on me. I have yet to receive a call back from the two calls yesterday morning and from earlier this morning. It's unfortunate.

My experience with Dunbar has been very good. They came on time, solved the problems (replaced one toilet, changed float on another, cleared slow tub drain, rodded blocked kitchen sink drain) and were courteous. A month or so later the sink drain backed up again; they returned and spent over an hour getting it cleared--but didn't charge me as it was a return visit.

Certainly and absolutely the worst company to hire for anything. The owner, Angelo Dunbar, is a loser and not a reliable or trustworthy person. He jerked me around for days, promising and failing to show up, and not having the courtesy or decency to call to cancel the appointment. When next I called him, he demanded $50 more than we had agreed and out of desperation, I agreed and got everything ready for him to hook up my washer-dryer. But he still didn't show up or call. He caused me to call in to my job.

Stay away from this fool!

Dunbar Plumbers answered my initial call, made reasonable arrangement to come by, once there completed needed work, cleaned up and gave me a 30yr landlord good preventive advice. Would definitely use them again. Dependability & fairness is what most landlords want most, but actually these are really nice guys, very professional.

This company is great. My plumber was very knowledgeable about my bathroom pipes after the first person I hired left issues. Not only was he professional and knowledgeable he fixed the issue free of charge. I will definitely use this company again and again.

Zuniga’s plumbing did a wonderful job repairing my aunt’s sump pump. Manny was the technician for the repair and showed professionalism and knowledge in his work. I have finally found a reliable plumber in the Chicago area that I trust and will be using him for all my plumbing needs.

Walter and his team were great! They communicated clearly what the issues were, and gave us all the information we needed to make decisions within our financial and time constraints. We will definitely be calling them again with any future issues, though I am hopeful it won't be necessary!

Zuniga's first time working with me was great - great technicians, great communication, fixed my issues right away. The second time left a lot to be desired. While the work was technically in line with what I asked them to do [vanity replacement in a tenant's unit], they installed the wrong vanity [then acted like I was in the wrong for telling them so!], and did so directly over the subfloor, without notifying me that there was tile missing...when I'd specifically asked them to notify me as such. They do not do tile, and I understand that, but they didn't follow my instructions and then acted churlish and rude when I gave them the feedback that I was disappointed in this - I would have liked the opportunity to have them refer me to a tile laying company and then to bring them back after the floor was in good shape and uniform throughout the bathroom. Now, I'll have to remove the vanity they've installed, then have the tile redone, then have the vanity reinstalled - a pain for me and my tenants alike.

I gave him this feedback directly, and his response was combative and unhelpful. All in all, there was no effort to make it right or accept responsibility whatsoever. I can handle mistakes, and I would have been understanding if he'd told me "This is out of our purview" - if that had happened, we could have worked together on a solution. But I can't handle outright rudeness and denial of responsibility when someone's done something contrary to what I asked when I'm paying them.

I don't recommend this company at all. If you do choose to move forward with this company, I would be very, very clear with Walter about what is acceptable and what is not, and be there to supervise the work as it's happening.

I had a great experience with Zuniga's plumbing. I had an issue with a gas line being installed incorrectly, and they were out the same day to give an estimate, and it was fixed the following day. I will definitely go through this company again.
