I first contacted RWP for an issue where water was flowing into our unit through a drain pipe. Two previous plumbers were not able to solve the problem, but RWP was by far the most knowledgeable and responsive.

The team showed up and fixed the issue the same day I called them. The two other plumbers tried to clear the drain, but RWP was the first to actually analyze the construction of the pipe and found that the problem was caused by a construction issue. With a few simple adjustments, they were able to prevent the issue from happening again. Throughout the process, the team explained their rationale and solution in great detail

Although their services are a bit pricy, we have found RWP to be capable of solving difficult issues we have encountered. Thank you for your assistance RWP. Absolutely 5 stars

This is the second time I've called Rob to deal with a plumbing issue, and I've decided he'll be my go-to guy because of how helpful and responsive he always is. I couldn't ask for a better professional. He was able to help with a problem I had with odors coming from my faucets and again with a problem with our garbage disposal. Much more helpful than the "big business" places I've worked with in the past!

I needed a sink installed but Rob West plumbing also offered to take a look at my plumbing. I was offered a fantastic price and the work was top notch. I would hire them in a heartbeat. I was provided so much information, knowledge and assistance. It was a great experience.

Needed a sewer backup prevention system installed. Upon recommendation from a neighbor, I called Rob West Plumbing. I was able to speak with Rob right away, and the next day he came to the house to talk about what system might work best for my needs. We settled on a system and a price, and the work started the next day. Upon completion, the project came in at the agreed on price.

His crew was polite, professional, and got the work complete on time. One thing I liked about dealing with this company was the fact that there was a constant line of communication with Rob, the owner of the business.

I will use this company for any future plumbing needs.

I called Rob West Plumbing for some issues I was having with my kitchen plumbing. They were very responsive to getting someone out to my condo. The plumber was on-time, knowledgeable and very professional. I'll definitely call them again.

Rob and crew installed a tankless water heater. They went above and beyond to ensure the job was done correctly. The install was a bit of a challenge given the limited space and vent issues. Rob is very responsive and easy to work with. Pricing was fair too. Highly recommend for your plumbing needs.

Very professional, friendly, and helpful! I'm in the process of purchasing a 3rd floor unit which just happens to be having the vertical risers replaced by the HOA and Rob took time out of his very busy day to explain the work he is doing and how it is personally going to affect and fix my unit's current water issues. He was very straightforward with his explanation and was very patient and friendly on the phone with me even though I'm just the potential buyer and not even his current client.

These guys are GREAT! I've used Rob's company on two occasions, and while my plumbing issues were pretty simple, they were identified quickly and corrected in under 30 minutes both times. Kristine managed my appointment politely and professionally, and not only was I able to get a plumber (Alex) here the very next day, but he was on time and very friendly. In addition to swiftly fixing my clogged line, Alex also explained WHY this problem occurred and how I could prevent it from happening in the future.

These are the type of professionals we HOPE to find, but rarely do. I'd recommend Rob West Plumbing in a heartbeat to anyone in need of a knowledgeable, friendly and honest plumber.

They were able to find and fix a problem I had been dealing with for a while. I wasted a lot of $ on other plumbing companies that couldn’t help me figure out what the problem was, but Alex, Sam and Al figured it out right away, did a great job and Rob was really helpful and knowledgeable. Very highly recommend using them.

Rob was very prompt. They charged us $659 to replace a faucet. The $100 service fee to come out was a separate fee from the materials and labor cost. The faucet lasted 6 months and now leaks again. I went to Home Depot and bought a new faucet and replaced it myself in about 30 minutes. Rob taught me the value of DIY plumbing and I will be forever grateful for that.

I've been through 4 plumbers since moving to Chicago and have never been happy with the service or quality until I met these guys. Alex and his team did a great job, were very courteous, found the problem, explained the options and the process clearly and then fixed it very professionally. You can CLEARLY see the HIGH quality of work these guys do vs the 4 other experiences I've had. Heartily recommend Rob West Plumbing! Save yourself some time, heartache, and money by giving them a call.

You could be putting your home and wallet at risk by choosing Rob West Plumbing. The experience we had was expensive and unpleasant. Interacting with Rob was the worst part, and he proved to me to be an untrustworthy person who takes advantage of homeowners. We called them out to snake a drain and replace a cartridge in our shower, during which, they caused a leak, and had to come out a second time for which they charged us exorbitantly. I urge you not to work with people like this, and don’t give them your money. Several complaints I have from my experience:

1 – No formal quotes process (verbal or written): The onus is on the business to provide proof of contract but the plumbers do not discuss costs before doing work. This puts you at risk when you get blindsided by a bill and then it becomes a matter of he said, she said to work things out. During the first appointment, I prompted the conversation about cost, and they verbally ballparked $700. The appointment ended up costing ~$1,000. During the second appointment, in action and word, the plumbers took responsibility for the leak. Because of this, we did not prompt a conversation on costs, and, critically, they did not indicate during the visit that they would charge us. We received a bill for $920 later that evening. We were naïve as new homeowners not to press for more transparency, but again, it is the business’s responsibility to provide proof of contract – if you choose to work with Rob West Plumbing, demand written quotes for work to protect yourself.

2 – Refuses to take accountability: If anything goes wrong with your project, they will screw you over. The leak I described above outlines this experience. Watch them like a hawk while they’re working, and question any costs or materials they propose you need.

3 – Unprofessional and unscrupulous: Rob West proved to be the worst part of this whole thing. We got into an argument when I called to dispute the charges for the second visit. He was immediately dismissive of my perspective. He was manipulative and patronizing. He came off as erratic and unprofessional. I suspect that he regularly bullies homeowners who push back on him. In reviewing Yelp reviews after the fact, it looks like others have had the same experience. Yikes.

4 – Poor administrative processes: Billing and invoice documentation isn’t transparent. They charged us a $150 hourly rate for the first visit and $200 for the second, and hoped we wouldn’t notice. Rob claimed that $150 was a discounted rate when we called him out, but this wasn’t disclosed at all. Scheduling the initial appointment should have been a red flag. I had to follow up several times to even get an appointment, for which Rob was full of excuses. I waved it off as a local business with a small team, so they don’t have a dispatcher, but they just don’t manage the business well. I had to remind them of my issue several times via email and phone. Interestingly, they were able to take note of my credit card information just fine the first time around.

5 – Money grubbing: As many have indicated, they charge $100 to make an appointment. I understand charging a consultation fee (if the homeowner chooses not to move forward), but this unnecessary charge doesn’t go toward your bill. It’s in addition to the hourly rate and materials. On top of the other issues we had, it adds to the appearance that Rob West Plumbing is a money grubbing business that doesn’t really care about their customers and community as they claim.

The resolution to our business with Rob West Plumbing was unsatisfactory. After our argument, he emailed to discount the second visit by $300 (so we would pay $620) ‘in the hopes of developing a working relationship.’ We asked that he correct the hourly rate and we ultimately paid $420 for a leak they caused. Pursuing this any further is cost prohibitive on the part of the homeowner, and honestly interacting any more with Rob sounds like a nightmare.

The plumbers were quick, efficient, and exceedingly helpful and professional. They coordinated with our building's water shut off schedule. Rob was very knowledgeable on the phone and his office was responsive and flexible regarding the appointment time. Great service. Hope I don't have to call again soon, but will definitely be calling them if I need anything in the future.

Edited to add that I also hired an electrician and carpenter through Rob West, and they were both punctual and efficient. They did a great job on replacing fixtures, installing switches, and building and installing a custom barn door. They were on time, tidy, and did a great job very quickly. Definitely recommend their services as well.

Everyone I’ve encountered at Rob West Plumbing has been very knowledgeable and patient. They get the job done quick and are very good about explaining everything that’s been done as well as being very realistic for the task at hand.

They fixed my cracked pipe as well as repaired the drywall promptly after. I would highly recommend their team for almost any job you might have

Rob West was very responsive to my needs and more than willing to explain the ins and outs of the various plumbing projects I have on the go. My hot water heater was installed right away, pricing was reasonable and the entire staff was enjoyable to work with. Over the phone he explained exactly what should be done and why and then had easily the best price for the service. I called to set up a repair appointment and he was able to set it up same day, about 30 minutes after we talked on the phone. If I need plumbing services again I'm definitely calling Rob West Plumbing.

Great experience as a first time customer! I needed a leaky garbage disposal replaced, and Rob West and crew came through with flying colors. They gave me a good estimate on parts & labor, worked with me to select the right replacement model, and had my new garbage disposal installed and running - all by the next day after I called. Professional, highly responsive and very fairly priced. I love supporting neighborhood businesses and I will definitely call them again when the need arises.

My husband and I are first time home buyers. We were ready to close on our new home, but we noticed a sewage smell in the basement. Wanting to ensure we weren't encountering something majorly expensive or un-fixable, we called Rob to see if he could scope the sewer and check out the smell. Rob was able to come out last minute and ease our concerns. He even took a peek in the catch basin to see how that looked. Rob is knowledgeable and gave us the okay that our new investment's sewer line and plumbing wasn't going to cause us any major issues and was in fact in good condition. We plan to call Rob in the future to help us keep our new home in working order.
