On a recommendation from What's Happening in..........(I did not know the person) I used Balanced Plumbing for the first time. My one star is for the outrageous cost of the job that was done.
The plumber talked a lot. He was at my house for hours. He changed a flap in the toilet tank which took him about ten minutes and then he installed a kitchen faucet that I bought myself. Total: $749.72.
I also asked him to replace an outside faucet that kept leaking. He felt he could adjust the rim of the faucet without the need of replacing it which he did. It was a quick adjustment and he did not charge me for it.
Watch out for the added 'call out fee' which they say they will waive if you go ahead with the job. So Not True!
I will NEVER use them again.

Ok, so this review was posted 7 months ago and and now there's a response 7 months later. It is not from the owner but from the plumber himself. Since you are choosing to go the route of bashing me for giving you a one star review instead of explaining your charges or regret that I was not happy but instead you want to respond 7 months later to negatively talk about me, it shows your true colors.
I would not suggest to negatively respond to someone that gives you a one star review. All that does is show how unprofessional you and your company are and could care less about the customer.
First of all, you can look at my past reviews all you want (which is irrelevant to this issue but only want to distract the focus from your company and call out my character). My reviews are based on my experience which I post to help others make a decision on deciding whether to hire that company for themselves. And no, to your comment that there are 'some pretty great businesses.' I can probably say I am sure you have not used them. So while I can read your past reviews and comment on that as well I choose to be more mature and focus on your company instead. And you conveniently didn't mention my 5 star reviews which I have posted as well.
Second, the reason you came out was to replace a kitchen faucet (that I bought) and to replace a flap in a toilet tank. I was charged $262.00 for the flap which you took ten minutes to do. I was charged $318.72 to install the kitchen faucet that I bought. And then you charged me $169.00 for 'call out fee.' I was told on the phone that that would be waived if I went ahead with the work. I reluctantly agreed to the job since you were already at my house and the fee was going to be waived. But you charged me anyways which is a scam (even more reason for the one star).
Total bill: $749.72.
You talked a lot instead of focusing on doing the job you were there for. You were at my house for hours. You talked for over a half hour before you even started working on the faucet. At one point you talked about needing to replace your windows in your home and said you would put that on my bill.
Third, you particularly write more about an outside faucet that I asked you to look at and thought it needed to be replaced because of the constant leaking. And no, it was not nearly new! It was from 2011! You spent less than five minutes on it adjusting it. And why would you really charge me for a few minutes adjustment? And it was not a hose problem, it was a facet problem. You commented that you didn't like the hose!
Also, this plumber seeing that I was a woman asked me if I lived alone. Who asks that question?! You then called your office right before you presented the bill to me.
And finally, the next day this plumber left me a message(after 7pm at night) to change my one star to a five star. Really?! Who does that?
You are disingenuous with your comments(and just hurt this business even more) and you can write more but I will come back and write more myself by calling you out!
By the way, two days after you were at my house I had a company come out(which was exceptional) to power wash my house. I mentioned to him the plumbing bill and he said, 'They see you are a woman living by yourself and see you have a big house so they take advantage of people like that.'

I recently had a pipe leak from the soffit near the ceiling in my garage and water was dripping from several different spots from the soffit into my garage floor. Paul from Balanced Plumbing of Sycamore came out and immediately located the leaking pipe and fixed the issue in a very timely manner before serious damage occurred. Paul was very professional, responsive and extremely knowledgeable. Also, his service is a very fair price. I would highly recommend this company!

Fantastic service! Quick, kind, polite, and very knowledgeable. I had no water pressure from my kitchen sink faucet. Paul walked me through the repair so I understood what was done and explained everything I needed to know for maintenance. I was referred to Balance Plumbing by another company for a potentially major sewer repair. When I called to set up an estimate that I will need for my insurance company, I was greeted with, "Can you call back on Monday? I'm in the middle of an emergency." When I stated who referred me, I was then asked what the issue was. They confirmed that my yard will need to dug up and then said, "We no longer offer that service." And promptly hung up on me. All over their website and every Google search states Balanced Plumbing handles sewer line repairs. But don't call them over the weekend and ask for an estimate appointment!

Paul did an incredible job evaluating and replacing our sump pump efficiently and effectively when we realized our basement was starting to take on water. We’re grateful for his swift help and look forward to working with him more in the future!
