My company works with many General Contractors across the city, and CMH is one of the best. Quality and integrity in their work, enjoyable team to work with, and always helpful and timely in their communication. If I were a homeowner having work done, CMH would be top of my list.

Everything from start to finish for our basement was so simple! The team really listened to our wants in planning the design and delivered on that plan excellently! They even designed a sweet little reading book under the stairs that our children adore. Seriously, go with these professionals!

My basement was remodeled by Craig and the team at CMH Builders way back when we were all stuck at home in 2021. He, Lindsey, and Brandon were all three very professional, enjoyable to work with, and knowledgeable of every aspect of our build. Brandon comes out to your house to talk about layout, he meets you at the design center to deliver the estimate based on your desires (be sure to grab a free beer and a cookie if you’re there during snack time). 😉 Then he hands you off to Lindsey to choose your finishes after you sign up. The icing on the cake? “El Presidente” (congrats again on 15+ years!) Craig personally sees to it your project is done on time and to your exact specifications. He spares no detail, either. You need only trust he knows what he’s doing as he will communicate with you througout the project as you "tour" your finishing stages. His keen eye picks out details even you may not see to ensure they’re correct when the project is done. The entire staff was pleasant to work with. The build crew who actually shows up every day respects your home as well as being pretty fun to get to know - especially Ronny. Please give Ronny a hard time like he’s your best friend... he’s got the personality to handle it!

But seriously, if you’re in the market for a basement finish, Craig needs you to look him up. CMH Builders is an excellent contracting company. Never mind that Craig’s a Boilermaker! Haha... just playing with ya, Buddy... (Go Big Red)!

My experience with CMH builders was fantastic from start to finish. They are extremely professional, very good at communicating, and their business process is very efficient to complete projects ahead of schedule at or below budget. The process begins with the creation of your floor plan and 3D interior design. They work with you to get the plan and design that you want at no cost to you unless you decide to do business with them or you can purchase their plan to contract elsewhere. Once you have decided to move forward, you will select the interior furnishings with their interior design team in their showroom. From there you meet your project manager who is your point of contact throughout the process. He/she will manage contractors and sub contractors that do the work in your home, provide weekly status updates and plans for the next week, and make sure that the project is being completed accurately, on time, and at budget. Your project manager is who you can voice any concerns you may have throughout the process and they will take appropriate action to resolve any issues that you may have. Our project manager was Ryan Pruett. His professionalism, communication, attention to detail, and his genuine caring that we were happy and the quality of work of his company throughout the process was second to none. We were so pleased with the work and effort that Ryan put into our project. Our project was a complete finishing of an 1100 square foot walkout basement. This included full plumbing, electrical, HVAC, adding two bedrooms, two bedroom closets, two exterior bedroom windows, a living room, bar area, full bathroom, storage room, and utility room. I cannot say enough about the quality of work that this company provided. We are thrilled with the results, we would absolutely do business with CMH Builders again in the future, and we would recommend them to anyone in central Indiana that is considering finishing their basement.

Juwan Sargent was our PM he was excellent and got the basement finished quickly and effectively. Managed trades in and out well and listened when we had requests and issues that arose were solved quickly. Brandon was our salesperson and also excellent we felt we knew all the options we had to work within our budget and are so pleased with the end result of our finished basement.

If you’re looking to finish your basement, CMH Builders is the only name you need to know in Indianapolis. From start (January) to finish (April) they were courteous and punctual and communicative with me the entire time. Every facet of my basement project was tackled by a specialized professional. From the framing, painting, flooring and bathroom install right on down to the AMAZING bar install and movie theater installation...100% professional. I was especially struck by the joviality of the guys while working. They enjoy their work and it shows! I really appreciated the personal attention along the way and especially as the project completion grew near, the owner of the company made many visits out to personally see that things were to my satisfaction and if not, immediately handled it for me. CMH even has a terrific designer on staff that held my hand through the decision-making process which really helped ease some of my anxiety. Seriously, from start to finish, a great experience.

We finished our basement with CMH and we are so happy! They walked us through every step of the process and gave us a time line in the very beginning. Our PM was very communicative and always told us what to expect. If something was off schedule, he always told us about it and the new expected time. Everyone was professional and friendly.

I very seldom write critical reviews, as I have worked in retail/customer service for 15 years and understand the challenges businesses face. However, after dealing with CMH last fall (2023), I found it in my best interest to inform prospective buyers about our experience.

The early stages of the process was ultimately the only reason the company earned the star that they did. The design meeting and presentation were great. You are given a virtual "tour" of the finished basement, fully furnished and everything. This gives you a good idea of what your space will look like. You are also able to make adjustments during this time as you see fit. Most building companies probably offer similar technology, but I enjoyed this.

The early stages of construction were smooth. Framing and plumbing went in as scheduled, but after that, things really fell apart in terms of both timeliness and quality of work. Each week you are sent a 'weekly schedule' from your project manager of planned work. After the first two weeks it was rare that the schedule was even remotely close to being followed. For example, we had a week where work was to be performed on 4 different days and we ended up having contractors in the house for 2 hours on 2 different days and that was it for the week. So basically 4 total hours of work for the week when we had anticipated 20-30 hours based on schedule presented to us. We had to proactively reach out to our project manager to inquire about the schedule, no communication or notice given as to the lack of work. I understand that things most likely get harder to coordinate with scheduling the further along you get, as it requires planning and assumes timeliness of steps before it to make sure everything aligns, but the total lack of communication was unacceptable.

I added photos of what some of the work looked like before our final walkthrough. The drywalling, specifically corners and where meeting the ceiling, was atrocious. Trim not sitting flush. Doors not sanded/painted. Even simple things such as door knobs being put on upside down. During the walkthrough we were voicing our concerns to the project manager, specifically stating that a lot of the areas look like "a crappy DIY job". His response, I kid you not, was "I think it looks pretty good". One would have thought the response would have been along the lines of "Let's see what we can do to address your concerns and fix any issues". It was really off-putting.

If you scroll through a lot of the positive reviews, you will see many of the reviews/ratings have been left by employees and/or their family members. I am sure they have done quality work for others, but that was not the case for us across the board for the project. If I elected to do a similar project in the future, CMH would not make the cut.

We just completed our basement project with CMH and from start to finish they were excellent to work with. They took the time to answer all of our questions and were very flexible with any of the change requests we made. The entire team (framers, drywall team, electricians, plumbing and painting) were all very professional with us as well as made sure to clean up at the end of each day. Our PM Nick Vazquez was very prompt with responses and when onsite walked through and addressed any questions we had. All around great experience with CMH and I would recommend them to anyone looking to have their basement done.

We used CMH to finish our unfinished basement.
