They did a terrible job didn't get my hot tub clean, and now I have a leak somewhere. I called and was call a liar said they passed on all types of information which they did not, they made several assumptions, which were not true.
When asked to speak to a manager the woman told me well what do you want me to do about it -
The use of computerized testing equipment along with a knowledgeable Office Staff, Kris, Bob, and Sue will guarantee you get the right knowledge and supplies without wasting money on guessing the amount of chemicals to restore or maintain your pools balance. I highly recommend trusting your pool to them.

First time customer. Have a pool here and in Illinois. Needed a whisperflow 1hp pool pump and when I called they knew what they were talking about. I had called the online ppl selling it and they were just ready of the manuscript and could not answer my questions which was frustrating.
Spoke with Chris. The moment I said the part number he knew the make and model of those numbers! (I already went to Dave's pool, and pool supply and a few places online and they took a while to figure out what it was and did not have it in stock. Also they wanted to charge me close too $1,000 -$1,300 just for the product without install. Online was close to $500-700. When I asked why they were soo much more expensive they got offended and looked uncomfortable.
Pates was closer in range to the online prices and I appreciate that. I rather by in person. Support retail jobs and talk to someone that knows what he's saying. Keep up the good job. -
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Great customer service and show room. They always have what I need and reasonably priced considering the stores convenient location. They always cart purchases to your vehicle and walk you out after a visit. Keep up the great work guys!!

I've been to Pools of Fun and Leslie's before Pate's. This is my spot. People know who I am, they remember my other issues and they tell me what's best for the pool and for my wallet. If they think I can do it without them, they tell me. They don't just take my money. To me, that's good business. They help when I need them and support me with good ideas when everything is cool.

By far the best pool service and supply store in Indy. They always do a great job on openings and closings. They will actually teach you things if you ask. I live miles away from this store (there are 4 pool stores way closer) yet I still drive the distance because I know the service and expertise is unmatched.

Pate's is the place to go if you're looking for personal & knowledgable service! I've used Pate's for all of my pool needs for 11 years. I have high expectations when I spend money on services & products. Pates consistently exceeds my expectations. The owner, retail manager, & all of the retail & service staff are super to work with. I have been working with Kris to get set up with a wood burning stove. He has been exemplary to work with and went above and beyond to help. I am in the early stages of the project so he sent me several options, and kept in mind the space I was trying work in. We got the perfect stove picked out and will update with pictures once completed. I would highly recommend Kris and Pate's Pools to anyone.

When they closed our pool last year they left our pump on. I emailed the owner and never got a response. This year when they opened our pool they left our heater on. I emailed the owner my concern and never got a response from them. Not a very good company. I will never go back there. Now we have a 4000 dollar fix with our heater.
This is the response to her saying my facts are not straight.
Actually when you closed our pool I emailed your husband and told him the guys left our pool running and never got an email back from him nor a phone call. So my facts are right and when you opened our pool I emailed you asking you if you was the owner and you responded yes. I then told you about the pool opening, and that I wasn't happy with it. You never responded. You never called in fact I called you that day because your guys left the frog out of the pool and had them come back out to put it in. -
Pates pool service came to vacuum my pool in the pouring rain. The note that they left stated that due to the rain the weren’t sure how good of a job they did. Needless to say it was done correctly there was still lots of debris on the bottom. Of course I was still charged $160.00. I complained and asked that my money be refunded or they could come vacuum my pool correctly. Fortunately I was refunded my money, but was left a ugly voicemail stating the would not treat my pool ever again. I had this company close my pool last year and spent over $800.00, I was not negative towards them in the least. So lesson learned with this company, if you don’t mind subpar work they will keep you as a customer, otherwise your history. Customer service doesn’t exist anymore!

I tried again and the owner is very nice, I wouldn't use anyone else for my needs.
My only regret is that I didn't buy my hot tub from Pate's.
I'm Increasing my rating from a less than ideal experience earlier, as everyone has an off day once in awhile. -
My experience at Pates Pools has been exceptional! Ive had some really bad experiences from other chain pool stores which resulted in me driving a bit more to visit Pate’s. Pate’s staff is very friendly, gives honest recommendations, and provides helpful feedback for whatever questions I have. Thanks for your amazing service!

I used Pates Pool service for almost 2 years. It started off great and then slowly deteriorated. The company was sold after my first year and things changed. First change was they would no longer would store my winter cover. OK, I figured out a place to store it. Not a huge deal. They opened the pool in April and I pre-purchased all the chemicals. I had weekly service. Every time they serviced, I had to hunt for my receipt. Sometimes in the back door, side door, front door, on my storage box, and sometimes it vanished. I emailed Lori about this. She said she would add notes to my profile. Nothing changed. My pump was making a louder than normal noise since opening. Nobody could figure out why this was happening after a few service calls. I was concerned it would fail. Finally, they said change it out for $800 or so because they could not figure it out. I decided not to as it did work, just made loud noises. They came to service on 8/12 and Lori emailed me that afternoon saying my pump housing had failed and they were unable to service that day and would come back 8/13 to repair which I replied 'thank you'. Jason, their service tech did come back the next day to make the repair. Interesting note when this was fixed, the loud noise that I have been hearing all summer stopped. Hmmmm..... Anyway, we do not use our pool during the week so Saturday morning, I opened the pool to find the water level below the tile line, the water cloudy, and the bottom filthy. I emailed Lori, no response. I called Jason. No response. I texted Jason. No response. As the morning progressed, it got worse and then the pump lost its prime. I began to panic a bit as we were having a party that evening. Called and texted Jason again. No response. I then decided to call their shop hoping to get some emergency number but they answered. The lady, I forgot her name, was great. I explained the situation and she said she would call me back. When she did, she said she talked to Jason. (Why he wouldnt talk to me I dont understand) she said when he left, it was working fine. I understand Jason may have been off that weekend but all I was looking for is his suggestions to fix the issue. He chose to ignore my calls for help. The receipt he left me said nothing about low water. Had he left a note or called me the day of service asking me to add water, there would have been no issue. Anyway, I filled the pool back up, I was able to reprime the pump, and all was good other than my filthy pool floor. I again emailed Lori and I asked her to call me Monday to discuss the situation. No call. I emailed again. No call Tuesday. I emailed again asking if they still wanted me as a client because nobody was calling me back. I received an email from David saying they no longer would work with me and would not come back to clean my pool they were supposed to clean the week before. I guess nobody likes to hear complaints. I, also being in the service industry, love to hear complaints as that is the only way I can fix things. I can guarantee that when my clients call my techs, they answer and help them over the phone. Pates obviously does not. I was disappointed in the communication. I was a good client who paid their bills each week without question yet when things went bad one weekend, they couldn't handle it. Not sure if this would have happened with the previous owner or not.

Jim and his team are outstanding. Just bought a house with an existing pool - as a first-time pool owner. I shopped with four different companies prior to coming across Pate's. I am so glad that I did. They are reasonably priced and keep their commitments and promises. I now have a new liner and could not be happier through the end of my first pool season.

Had a hot tub that died, and searched Greater Indy for someone willing and able to fix it. Only Pate's was willing to take a look at it. Russell found the problem after quite an extensive search; it was a huge effort just to move the thing into a position from which he could open the access plate. And the contortions he had to put himself into, to reach, remove and replace the bad heater element! Oy.
He did it all with easy confidence and a "no big deal" attitude. It's been fine ever since.
Pate's services our hot tub and our pool. They're punctual and professional. I've not had a problem since. And all of the service staff, especially Lori, are the nicest people you could deal with
I'm a big fan of Pate's -
I highly recommend Pate's for all your pool needs. I used a different provider for a year and decided to switch to Pate's Pools and I am so glad I did. They are very reasonably priced, very knowledgeable, and are great with their customers.Kris goes above and beyond! The biggest thing though that sets them apart is they don't just try to sell people stuff they don't really need, just to make a buck. They listen and try to actually save their clients money. I can not rave on them enough! World class team for sure.

I have been using Pate's for 4+ years now. Having purchased our home with a pool & without any prior knowledge of operating and maintaining a pool, each experience has been fantastic. The staff is wildly friendly, extraordinarily knowledgeable and extremely friendly. They have been very patient with this newbie and I will continue to recommend this local shop to anyone who values customer service.

We used Pates for many years! We first started using them at their office on 96th and Michigan, and followed them to their main office when that one closed. Used them for pool openings and closings, as well as any chemical issues we had. They tested our water and were always able to help us quickly fix any issues and get back to using our pool. Also had them install a new pump which went very smoothly when ours died. On top of great service they we're always extremely friendly to my two boys, who loved to come into the store with us. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

I had been bringing water samples into Pates, but I just used them for the first time fall of 2022 to close my pool. Not a bad experience. They opened my pool this spring, 2023, for the first time, and I noticed a short time after that my pump was shutting off at some point, and then firing back up again at 5:15 every morning and waking me up as the pump is right outside my bedroom window. My pump has always run at the same speed 24/7. So somehow they changed my schedule at the opening unbeknownst to me. When I inquired about this, they wanted to charge me whatever their fees are to come back out and reset the pump. I declined on that deal. Short time later, and I’m sorry I don’t have specific dates, but it was this summer, I turned on my gas heater, and it was making a whining noise. I agreed to let Russell, come out and have a look. He diagnosed That the water flow was too slow and cranked up the pump speed to I think 4300. He supposedly set the pump so it would run at one speed for eight hours, then lower the speed for the next eight and then lower it again for the next eight hours. The next morning , I heard it going at full speed. I went out to have a look and the keypad was hot and the screen was black and the motor was hot underneath the keypad and screen. I shut it off and immediately contacted them again. Russell, came back out that same day and cleaned some debris off of the fan in the back that cools the motor. He expressed how much airflow was blowing out and that he had felt none before. I believe he should have looked at the fan for the motor before he cranked up the speed and left. Russell saw that the screen was black on the keypad and emailed me and said I needed a new keypad and he would get back to me on a price. Approximately a week later I went in and talked with David, the owner, and explained the entire experience as I had not heard back. I also had some sand in the bottom of my pool Which they diagnosed as needing a new lateral something or other. I think that was around $700 and the quote for the keypad and installation was around 800+. The sand that was in my pool was not an issue with them, and I said as much to David. I called and asked to speak with David. He did not return my call. Later that afternoon, I called again and he finally did return my call. He said I was blaming them for things they did not cause and no longer wanted to do business with me. He said he would mail me a new keypad, but they would not install it. It is a good thing. I shut it off as soon as I did or the whole motor could have burned out.
I’ve then contacted Angies Pools in Greenwood who installed my pool in 2018. They sent Shane right out, and after discussing what had been going on with my pool, he diagnosed the cause of the sand, due to me lowering the water level on backwash, and not waste for an extended few minutes of time caused some sand to come back out through the Jets. Did not need new laterals. He installed the new keypad and the whole situation costed me about $235 not 1600. I was spending a lot of money in that store on all my chemicals and whatever else. Will never go back in but hey, David blackballed me instead of being rational and trying to come to some agreement with me and my situation caused by Russel. -
We’ve been with Pates Pools for years. They’re techs are the best particularly Eric and Jordan who solved our issue today. Thanks guys!
