HVAC reviews in Lenexa, Kansas

It's Sunday and our Air Conditioning was not working in the house. I called Top Notch, and Eddie Garcia showed up soon after. He made a few checks as he explained what he was checking. He then corrected a wiring deficiency in my system. Air Conditioning is working fine now.
Eddie arranged for Kevin Nguyen to come over to discuss the installation of a new system since the current system is showing its age. Kevin showed up soon after and determined exactly what we needed and explained what a replacement system would consist of and what options to consider.
On Friday June 27, 2025, Top Notch asked John Howze to come to the house to take another look at our HVAC system. John arrived on time and was courteous. He walked me through the tests he was making in an effort to help me understand. Ultimately, John discovered a link that had been cut on the HVAC circuit board for compatibility with the thermostat originally provided with the HVAC system. We settled on a course of action to move forward.
On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Top Notch asked Chris H. to come to the house to take another look at our HVAC system. Chris arrived on time and was courteous. He troubleshot the system. and determined an erroneous voltage was being sent to the HVAC unit from the thermostat. He corrected the error and the HVAC system is now working properly!! Thank you Chris!
All four individuals were a pleasure to work with.
Thank you Top Notch! -
I called Top Notch for their $49 New Client Tune-up and cleaning.
Not only was a problem misdiagnosed, but the job that was done, was not done properly, if at all.
Per my receipt, a problem with my a/c unit was diagnosed as the "refrigerant overcharged" with an estimate of $574.94 to correct the problem. The real problem is that the thermostatic expansion valve needed to be replaced. So, if I had agreed to do the work on my service order, I would have spent almost $600 and still not fixed the problem.
When the technician was cleaning the a/c unit my wife asked him why he did not remove the outside panels. His response to my wife is that the panels tend to warp, so all he did was spray the outside of the a/c unit. When properly removing the outside panels, one could see just how dirty the a/c unit was and clean it properly. This is an example of NOT doing the job properly by Top Notch.

The review is in the name...Top Notch. The company is professional and courteous through and through. I could not make a stronger recommendation for a company to care for your home.

He completed the work as requested in less than 2 hours. All working great but will check for leaks but great now. Great job.

Great experience with Tony N. Tony was not satisfied with air flow from dryer vent and worked until the job was complete. Duct cleaning was completed successfully . Tony was very professional and explained the job before he started. Very easy to talk with. We will have Top Notch and Tony back for Duct Cleaning in the future.

I had a sump pump and battery put in by Anthony after my other one failed and my basement flooded. He said the pump did NOT need to be sealed. I told him that the house had high radon levels when I moved in. He said he would not recommend sealing it and anyway he nor his company did that kind of work. I researched it as everyone I asked told me the pump should be sealed and sure enought my research supported that it definietly should be sealed. Now have to call another company out to complete the job. Also, same company, same technician:I had a PV value fixed on my water heater and asked if the water heated needed to be moved off the concrete floor he indicated No. My contractor is stating it does as otherwise will shorten the life of the water heater. My contractor( I was finishing my lower level basement) called to talk to him at Top Notch and they refused to speak with him about the discrepancies in opinions.

Very disappointed and feel ripped off. Top Notch installed my unit 4 years ago under the previous owners, who paid extra for VIP and maintenance. Now, 3 months after buying the house, I have problems. They charged me $129 to come look. They refused to honor their own warranty, and stand behind their own work. They charge $250 for the first lb and $185 for each after, which is 3x more expensive than their competitors, on top of their $129 service charge. An hour after leaving, I go outside and notice the unit is still short cycling. I call them right away, and am told it probably leaked all the Freon in that time, and they can come do a leak inspection but that will cost another service charge + $250 for the leak test. They did not want to come check their work without charging again.
They overcharge, and don't stand behind their work. Don't call them, save your money. -
John checked our hvac system made great suggestions and provided a fix on the spot. Best part was he walked me through everything he was doing. Great experience!

Had them install two new units, but they failed to register warranty and one of the systems broke within four years. Broke so badly that it required complete AC replacement. Got runaround from top notch, but much better experience elsewhere. Would not recommend.

We had a major plumbing issue with our Kitchen. The Top Notch team sent out Tim over 3 days. He fixed it. Was extremely helpful and heard what we said. Didn't try to over sell anything and now our kitchen works better than ever. The team on the phone was also extremely helpful. No one wants a big expense but when its necessary they were the best price, the most helpful and we will definitely use them again if we ever have issues.

I had a concerning experience with one of Top Notch Heating and Cooling’s drivers this morning. While driving, I was nearly run off the road by a company vehicle. Despite honking to get the driver’s attention, there was no response, and the driver continued to force me off the road. It's really important that drivers operating company vehicles maintain a high level of professionalism and attention on the road. This incident reflects poorly on the company’s image, and I hope steps are taken to address such behavior for the safety of others.

I appreciated the job Chris Herriott did on my winter system maintenance call. He waa polite and performed extra things like washing my outside A/C unit with the extra time he had. I felt like he gave me exceptional value on his visit.

Anthony Freeman was our technician, he was here within an hour. He was very knowledgeable and got the job assessed and done very quickly. He explained the problem and fixed everything in an hour. I’ll be calling back again for any needs I have. Excellent work.

Just had our Top Notch service technician out for a summer check up. Our technician was Will W and we can’t say enough about how great he was. Very thorough and kept us informed on any and everything about our system. Highly recommend Top Notch. We’ve been using them since 2010. Never been disappointed!

Anthony and Tim installed a new water heater, halo 5 system and all new water plumbing today. They did a spectacular job. I were very polite and neat. Extremely knowledgeable. Thanks guys.

I've used Top Notch for several years now, and am generally pleased. I appreciate being able to schedule service via the web form, and the text updates from the technician when they are enroute is really handy.
The recommendations they provide are usually good ones, with minimal upsell. They stock parts on their trucks, so there isn't the "gotta run back to the shop" delay common to competitors.
The general advice the technicians offer is also on point and helpful - explaining how to choose filter ratings, why a capacitor is needed, etc. The explanations are clear and easy to understand.
Appointments are on-time, and the technicians are helpful and friendly. The only reason for 4 stars is their prices are a little high, but as the saying goes - you get what you pay for, and I'm satisfied with Top Notch. -
Tim did a great job and went the extra mile and made a custom drain so next time any overflow goes directly in the drain. Very satisfied with the service.

Darin serviced our water softener system and reverse osmosis a couple days ago. I have complained to previous technicians that the water pressure on the reverse osmosis was very low and no one ever attempted to fix it. Darin trouble shot the entire system until he figured out what the issue was and thoroughly explained everything. He took his time to listen to what I had to say and then did what he could to help. He was very patient and kind, even though he ended up having to work late to help us. Five stars to Darin!!!! I hope to see him every time our equipment needs serviced!

Anthony Freeman has done work for us several times and has always been courteous and professional. His knowledge and expertise is important in understanding the scope of the work performed. Thank you for all you do to keep us going. You can't go wrong with this company.

Kelly made a follow up visit to check out our humidifier that stopped working. Solenoid valve was calcified and needed replacing. We’ve been fighting the dry air all winter with sinus issues. Wow, what a difference. In and out in short order with a little help from Tim (Top notch plumber) who was here at the same time repairing a leaking, frozen outdoor spigot. Tim was able to repair instead of replacing the original spigot! Saved us a bundle! They truly are “Top Notch”! Great Team Work!

Jon P. was our technician for our fall maintenance appointment. He was awesome! His knowledge and honesty about our appliances were very much appreciated.
