HVAC reviews in Lenexa, Kansas

I've used Mission PHC since 2011 to maintain HVAC systems at my home, business, and several rental properties. For the first twelve years their service was top notch, their customer service was attentive, and their proactive nature in scheduling annual maintenance appointments was beyond reproach. I enjoyed working with them, trusted their professional opinions, and appreciated their flexibility and responsiveness. They quality of their work has always been great and I've never questioned their professional capabilities on the work they've performed. Despite the overall negative impression I have, I will defend the actual work they do when they do it; the work product itself has been high quality.
Over the last 24 months their customer service has fallen apart. For me, it began when they unexpectedly stopped automatically charging for annual maintenance and asked me to call them if I wanted to reactivate that service. This was annoying but I assumed it was a paperwork mistake and moved on. Largely out of annoyance that they were making me jump through hoops and because they didn't even take the time to make a phone call to simplify the transition, I didn't reactivate it for the next twelve months and just called them when I needed service each time. The following year, I did reactivate during one of my visits but subsequently found they were no longer calling to schedule maintenance (they did, sometimes, send texts) and I had to reach out to them to get the appointments scheduled. Again, annoying, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and accepted that no one is going to care about my HVAC systems with the same level of attention that I would pay them myself.
This Spring, I had them out to service units at two properties and they came out and performed service as expected. They followed up that service with a laughable list of "optional but recommended" maintenance items including markups exceeding 60% on some of the recommendations and labor charges that implied exponential allocation of tech hours to the repairs/installs they were proposing. That experience left a very bad taste in my mouth because I knew that none of these items were necessary at the time and I also knew that vulnerable homeowners might see those and feel that they needed to act upon them, to the tune of thousands of dollars. I was genuinely upset to think that my own mother could be taken advantage of by a company like this if she were to receive such as long list of recommendations and not understand what was real and what was exorbitant. Again, however, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and moved on. I spoke with them about my dissatisfaction with that quote and anticipated a follow-up from them that never came.
Earlier this week, I called and scheduled my Fall Maintenance and they assigned me appointments for both my HVAC and plumbing checkups. The appointments were arranged with only 7 days lead time and everything seemed great. I adjusted my own schedule so I could be onsite during the appointed window for both properties. This morning, I get a text informing me that they can't meet the appointments they had scheduled and they never should have scheduled them. Their solution was to unilaterally move my appointments to January 19th (nearly a full month from now) before they had even spoken with me in person.
I don't usually write online reviews and I don't particularly enjoy giving negative feedback but I've been a long-time and loyal customer and I've repeatedly given Mission PHC the chance to regain my trust and they have failed.
Hopefully my experiences are isolated but if they were I think my concerns would have been addressed at one of many opportunities in the last 24 months and I would not be writing this review today. -
I’d give them 6 stars if I could. After two visits (and two charges) from another plumbing company in town, I felt the work was incomplete and called Mission. The technician Deshawn arrived on time. He was thorough in diagnosing the issue and found the prior company never cleaned out the main stack line. Within an hour he diagnosed and fixed the issue. I’ll be going with Mission here on out as long as I’m in Overland Park.

We were without air conditioning in July in Kansas for 10 days because of Mission. Think about that affecting your children and pets. Our house got up to 95 degrees at 10PM (and 108 during the day) while we waited for these clowns to respond. Sleeping with a fan on you was requisite, and it was so hot our freezer could not keep food cold.
"Ultra Heating and Cooling" was great, five stars from me. They sold that company to now Mission Heating and Cooling (lol and Plumbing, okay).
We had Ultra install our A/C but it only lasted two years. In those two years, Ultra was sold out to Mission. I called Mission the day our A/C went out and had to call them every day until Day 3 I finally got a tech out.
Mission said they would order the part to fix it (relatively cheap)
I called every. single. day. and did not get an estimate for when the part would arrive, did not get any updates, was told they "would call me back" but then they didn't and I had to call.
Day 8, I called Town and Country HVAC, they were out the same day, did the same inspection, ordered the part the same day, and it arrived in two days. They did the install for a whopping $50. Thanks T&C..
It is six months later and they still have not called to tell me the part has arrived, no follow-up. Don't even bother leaving a comment mission, I will not call you to "resolve" anything, you had your chance. -
The woman at Mission Plumbing who answered my call was wonderful and set up an appointment the same day. I was so relieved.
Jesse arrived from Mission Plumbing that day to let me know what I needed. He was courteous, professional and checked a lot of pipes from the upstairs bathroom down to the basement.
He was great.
Nathan arrived the following day and installed new plumbing for me .
He repaired a toilet flange that started leaking under my bathroom tiles and into my basement.
He stayed from early morning ‘till afternoon, replacing all necessary
pipes.
Nathan was polite, answered my questions and worked hard all day never taking a break. I wish I could describe in detail all he did,
but, I’m 70+ years old and don’t know much about plumbing.
I’m so thankful for all of Nathan’s hard work and can never thank him enough.
Because of my age, and because I’m on a fixed income, the price seemed high.
Everyone from Mission Plumbing treated me with respect and came within hours of my phone call.
Nathan is an ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT plumber.
Thank you! -
Mike was on time, he beat me to the house and worked quickly. He was patient and trustworthy. He has been out to our home before and provided great service then too. I would give him 10 stars if I could.

Very honest company. Monday we had them out for heating and instead of saying that I needed a whole new unit he came in looked at the situation then was able to the diagnose it. Then to insure his decision he had his senior technician just to make sure the diagnosis was correct because it was an expensive diagnosis when that technician came out he was able to fix the component that the other technician was saying needed to be replaced saving me from having to purchase a whole new unit and then on Wednesday we had the plumbers from this company out and they were very honest. Very diligent worked fast. Explain everything to me as they were going in a way I could understand. This company definitely does not look to just sell product. They genuinely have your best interest. I would recommend them to very one!

Top notch lived up to its name once again while installing our new water heater. Tim H. was the best plumber we've ever had out here and a friendly professional. Don't hesitate to have them replace yours too.

I have been with Top Notch for over a decade. Many different service personnel came to my home, Chris was the most recent. All the staff were very respectful of me and my home and my pets, and thorough! Same goes when I call with questions or to set up appointments. Prices are noticably lower with all their coupons/discounts available, just ask. VERY highly recommend!!!

We do not normally write reviews, but felt compelled to do so in order to let people know to be leery if you buy a product from here because they may not stand by servicing the product after it is installed. (Specifically a Rainsoft H2O softener) Every year for the past several years it has been a chore to get an annual inspection done on our water softener system and R/O system and after finally getting someone to come out, it is always someone different. I would always request the same person from last time, but that same person from last time was no longer employed there (red flag). Anyhow, we were dropped this year for annual service because now all of a sudden we fall out of their service range and because our unit is out of warranty that is an added bonus for them to not to have to fulfill any further obligations. Rated F for poor customer service!!

Update: We had a new furnace and a/c unit installed at our new home. Randy came out and explained in clear terms what our options were. Then, a three man installation crew performed the work flawlessly. It's clear that the training in this company is exemplary. Every employee encounter we have had in the last 3 years has been beyond our expectations. We highly recommend Top Notch.
Will did a great job servicing the humidifier on our furnace. He explained the level of humidity that is best for our house. Will was professional, courteous, and efficient. -
Our air conditioning was broken, and we called the company to come and check it. It only took them two hours to arrive. The person who came was John Howze, and all we can say is that we had a fantastic experience with him. He quickly identified the problem and patiently explained everything that had happened. As a result, we decided to sign up for VIP service with the company. Thank you, John, for your help and advice! 100% recommended! Marcelo Camargo and Chloe Helling.

Excellent customer service and knowledge. Our hot water heater broke on a Thursday evening and Top Notch management arranged for Anthony to arrive first thing the next morning. Anthony was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. I highly recommend Anthony as the plumber and Top Notch for their service.
