Breckinridge Heating & Cooling

Just had someone come out for an inspection today when our A/C unit stopped blowing cold air last night. Two maintenance/repair people arrived, took a two-minute look at the unit, and declared it 'burned up'. They then dispatched someone from their sales team, who came over two hours later and started the conversation with 'So I'm told that you're in need of a new A/C unit?"

This all seemed to be way too fast, considering that they didn't outline any options for repair, so I called another company. Guy from the second company came out, immediately pointed to the dual capacitor (which I now know is a $30 part), grabbed one from his truck and swapped it in, and we're back up and running.

I don't know how else to think of this experience other than either a lazy "inspection", or a straight-up hustle during a heat event.

*UPDATE*

The sales person who came to our house this afternoon had a second inspector/repair specialist contact me to follow up. I told him about my experience with the first ‘inspection’ and he subsequently came to our house, confirmed that the replacement part was installed correctly, performed a chemical cleaning of the unit (which was, admittedly, very dirty), and reimbursed me for the total fee that I’d paid to have the other company come to make the repair (and then some!)

I’m left feeling like a mistake was made, and the owners of the business did everything they could to set it right. Not an ideal process, but I’m very impressed by their quick response and course-correction. Frankie, who came to perform the cleaning and maintenance and offered the reimbursement, was amazing.

Fast and clean. My AC Cooling had big issues. The 10+ year old fan outside stopped turning. Spinning the fan did no good. Then the compressor overheated and blew a gasket. Breckinridge Heating and Cooling came to the rescue very quick. The owner Mark, personally came out and checked everything. Made a very reasonable estimate and then had his crew there the next day, am. They removed the old cooling parts, cleaned up the area, Put new parts in place and then cleaned up all the old freon copper tubing. Whoever mounted the old system did a very bad job managing the copper tubing. It was always in the way of the weed eater and mower. Inside the house the tubing was placed in an area where people would hit their head on it. Breckenridge cleaned everything up so nicely and made it look so good. They were very fast and efficient and the Goodman system that they placed in, works very good. Thanks.
