I have always been proud to use Laurel Fuel to service our furnace. In fact, they have been servicing it for years. Unfortunately, we don't get oil from them because their oil price per gallon is too high, but their service has ALWAYS been impeccable. Until today. I have never been treated with such disrespect over the phone. And, what upsets me more is that I talked with four different people (two of them owners) and not one of them told me that I couldn't get my furnace serviced because the last time I purchased oil was in 2015. Well, you didn't say that when you jumped started my furnace four weeks ago to the tune of $120 and the tech was only at the house for eight minutes. You didn't have an issue when you replaced my furnace motor last year. NOT ONE person told me. In fact, today, I was told: "Ms. Henderson, since you won't be home until 4:15, I will call you to let you know when a service tech is on the way. We can't have you without heat." I am actually due another oil delivery and they could have said, "Ms. Henderson, we actually don't service those who aren't oil customers." Do you know how many times they have serviced my furnace and I didn't know that? I probably would have said, "Well, how about you deliver oil, too, because I need my furnace serviced" but I wasn't even given a chance nor the option, and I am actually glad now. Laurel Fuel Oil & Heating Company was scheduled to come to my house around 4:15 to service the furnace (this co. has been servicing my furnace for years). The plan was for them to call me when on the way. Around 4:20, I decided to call Laurel Fuel to make sure I hadn't missed their call. Praise God I did because they weren't going to come after all. Um...WHAT??? Oh, and no one called to tell me. You see, I don't purchase my heating oil from them because the price per gallon is too high. I actually purchase my oil from Husky Heating & Oil (off of Red Branch Road) because the price per gallon is a lot cheaper. The only issue with Husky is that they sub out their service calls, which is one of the many reasons why I use Laurel Fuel. Well, apparently, they didn't want to service my furnace today because this afternoon, someone realized I hadn't purchased heating oil from them since 2015. Um...WHAT??? Are you serious??? You didn't have a problem when I called this morning and several times during the day. To my surprise, when I called Laurel Fuel @ 4:20, after talking to several different people, a tech person got on the phone and said the following: "Ms. Henderson, we didn't know you weren't getting oil from us, so we can't service your furnace. It was an oversight for us that we just figured out." WHAT? Since when? "That has been our policy for 25 years and it is on our website." Why didn't anyone tell me? Was someone going to call and let me know? "Well, we would have gotten around to calling you tomorrow or sometime!" Well, guess what? There is no need to call me ever again!!! And, you best believe that everyone I know will know what horrible customer service I received today. I have always held Laurel Fuel in high regard and have recommended them to any and all, until today. Thanks, Laurel Fuel Oil and Heating Company for letting me know that you no longer need my business. Thank you for letting me know that honor and good customer service doesn't mean anything to you. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...NOT. You won't have a chance to fool me twice. Thanks, Husky Heating Oil, for answering my call and getting me in touch with your service tech who called me back within five minutes. He sounds awesome and I look forward to meeting him and having my furnace fixed. Now, because Laurel Fuel Oil & Heating Co. didn't tell me, I will be sitting under blankets tonight. No class. No respect. No honor. No care. This company does NOT care, and their oil price isn't even the best price in town. Well, neither is their service.

This is the BEST oil company in the DC Metropolitan Area for Service and price. They replaced my oil furnace and it was fast and easy with a Great price. They were so helpful and knowledgeable. I could not ask for a better experience. I will use this company for all my oil heating needs. Thank you.

Just had a very pleasant experience out of a potentially terrible situation. We turned on our A/C yesterday for the first time of the year, and when I went into the basement today, there was a pool of water dripping from the A/C unit. I had a tech in the house within the hour, and he quickly and efficiently diagnosed the issue (broken pump), replaced the part and we confirmed the issue was fixed shortly thereafter. The tech was onsite a total of 30 minutes, and answered all of my questions pleasantly and expertly. I highly recommend Laurel Fuel Oil and their stellar staff.

Delivered 100% what they promised! Scott from Laurel Fuel came out to our home as we were looking at replacing a 50+ year old furnace. It's pump had blown and hey, it was pretty old. Scott looked it over and suggested keeping it and giving it zones, new pumps, updated plumbing, the whole works. Said they new furnace may save us a little each month on fuel costs afterwards, but not much after they reworked it. Ended up saving us $12-14K and the rebuilt furnace works great. But, this isn't where they ceased to impress. Scott gave us a quote, and then during the job they ended up doing some needed additional work that brought the final above the quote, which I was willing to pay. Scott called us out of the blue (later that day after we paid over the phone with someone else in their office) and said he was honoring the quote and would put the credit towards future fuel deliveries!!! In this day and age, its hard to find a company that goes out of their way to do the right thing, but the entire group at Laurel Fuel has and now has us as a client for life. Thanks Laurel Fuel!

Over the past 20 years we have used a variety of companies for heating oil and boiler service/repair both routine and in those "holy ****" moments. The owner and employees at Laurel Fuel are by far the most knowledgeable, responsive, customer service focused, and friendly company in the industry. I highly recommend this company.

My wife and I had an emergency when our furnace was no longer working and not providing heat a few weeks back. Fortunately we have an annual contract with Laurel Fuel and Oil and they responded promptly to our need via their 24-hour emergency service. Their technician Tyler was on time and extremely knowledgable. He immediately diagnosed the problem and was able to get us heat shortly thereafter. Unfortunately we then experienced another outage that was unrelated the following weekend also after hours. Once again, Scott and his technicians were able to address immediately. Thanks again to Poist and their team; you guys have always stepped up!

Laurel Fuel is the best. I've been with them for 20 years for heating and cooling. My a/c just went out overnight and they have already been here and fixed it at 9:30 am. Can't thank them enough for their service. And a shoutout to Mason who fixed the a/c this morning.

Had a problem with my heat not working. Called Laurel Heating & Oil on one the the coldest days of this season, to ask if they could send someone out. They were short times to immediately schedule and the person transferred my call to dispatch. The dispatch took my info and I described the problem. They sent a very professional technician over within two hours and removed the air in my line and my home’s heat was restored for all my thanksgiving visitors. Highly recommend LH&O

We were referred to Laurel Fuel Oil & Heating by a neighbor. I feel like we owe the neighbor a finders fee. Their service has been consistently good and reasonably priced. I'm writing this now because Kevin just left after a routine maintenance call. My husband & I looked at each other and both said, "He was amazing" at the same time. Completely professional, thorough, and a fount of information and advice. Generally good company, and today, stellar.

Wonderful company. One of the best home service companies we have ever worked with. Honest, dependable, and always ready to assist. They have helped us maintain our equipment with thoughtful upgrades. The previous owners of our home used them and told us never to switch. They were right.

Called at 9pm on a Friday night with temps in the single digits. Great customer service, didn't try to push an unnecessary service call on me, repairmen were timely, professional and informative. Did not gouge me for a weekend/holiday/emergency fee though they easily could have. Mistakenly double charged our cc, but proactively caught it and fixed the problem before we even noticed. Strongly endorse.

Update//Another strong showing of customer service for this family owned/operated business. Needed to get ahead before a heat pump/exterior unit failed. In just four business days had a tech evaluate the system, shop manager provide an estimate (fair price validated by family friend in the business but out of service area), and replacement/repairs complete. Three techs showed up--professional, informative, and competent. I've been using them for six years and they will continue to be my HVAC/oil provider of choice.

It is 9:28 AM. The Blizzard of March 2017 is moving out -- just some ice pellets coming down now. At 8:00 AM I woke up to a cold house. Our oil heating system was not functioning. I called Laurel Fuel Oil at 8:15 AM and explained the problem. I told them that we were not in crisis mode, as we had a back-up kerosene heater, and I told them that we could wait if the roads were bad. (We did not set a time for the service call, but I would not have had a problem if the technician did not get here until the afternoon.) The technician arrived at 9:05 AM and got to work right away. He is an experienced professional and knew exactly what he was doing. The problem was a clogged nozzle in the fuel system. The heating was back on by 9:20 AM. Since I have a service contract, I do not expect a charge.
Laurel Fuel Oil has supplied my fuel oil and has taken care of my service needs for eight years. Their service is prompt and efficient and their prices for oil are competitive. And their employees are polite and friendly.

If I could give 6 stars I would. I found a drip of oil under our 60 year old oil tank and within an hour and a half they are here changing it out for me. Not only that! The old owners of the house used Laurel Fuel and have had the furnace that is original to the house from 1963....a 60 year old furnace and they keep it working like a dream! (and they keep parts in stock for older furnaces, that's HUGE). You call, someone always picks up (how rare is that these days). Amazing service, family run (the owner is here right now). Support local business! You don't get better than them!

We are not use to this type of service. We called our old supplier on Thursday morning but they couldn't help us until the following Tuesday. Laurel Fuel not only supplied our oil on the same day, but was available in the early hours with a live body the next day instead of an answering service. We are grateful and will continue using this company.

On Facebook today 6-20-18 someone posted: "Easily a 5-block long (100s of people) in a Falun Gong support march that started in Chinatown. And an idiot driving a fuel truck in the opposite lane shouting obscenities at them, telling them you go home or elsewhere." I would not use this company until this man is arrested and/or fired.

Great people, in my opinion best around. I live within walking (1/2 mile or less) distance of a different fuel oil company and the other company just is totally disrespectful and rude and can’t be bothered so about probably 20 years ago I switched to Laurel Fuel and haven’t looked back it’s local, family owned and operated and they look out for their customers. Great to deal with all in all. 100/10 recommend

Just installed a new AC system, and installed our oil furnace over a decade ago. Always great service and some of the nicest folks you'll meet. Thanks to Scott, Mason, Caleb, Joe (duct work) for a great AC install. Highly recommend.

So helpful and friendly. Helped me with an immediate oil delivery and didn’t charge an arm and a leg! Gave me troubleshooting advice that solved the problem without having to send out a tech. I’ve had bad experiences with other fuel oil companies and these folks are a cut above. Superior service and expertise. Thanks!

Never do business with Laurel Fuel Oil. They took complete advantage of my elderly parents and charged them while doing so. I had to get involved at the end of the day this happened. I spoke with Scott followed by the CEO, Richard to report an incident that took place at my folks' home that left water leaking inside their porch. The work requested and confirmed was to replace one boiler valve and the pressure/temperature relief valves in the boiler room. However, the technician later shared with me that he was not provided this information from the office and did not have those parts on his truck - yet was sent to my parent's home regardless.

I was not pleased and had already called the office that evening. Scott interrupted me three times and never did allow me to finish my concern before hanging up on me. I called back immediately. This time, Richard, the CEO picked up the phone.

Despite being quite frustrated with my prior conversation with Scott, I kept my cool. Richard proceeded to tear into me for my complaint about the situation and told me he was tired from his very long day and just wanted to go home. These were his exact words. I had shared that water was leaking on my elderly parent's porch floor. He said they would deal with it in the morning, told me (the customer) that I talked too much, that his boiler technician talked too much and couldn't get enough work done because of it, and hung up on me. Wow! It was a complete nightmare of unprofessionalism. I could not get in a word edgewise no matter how hard I tried!

The rudeness and utter disrespect for my family from the highest echelon of Laurel Fuel and Oil combined with their outright disrespect of a customer in this way simply stunning - and there's more.

The same technician showed up at my parent's home an hour later with no forewarning. What the heck?! Regardless, I spoke over the phone with him to assist in trying to stop the leak. I was already in my car on the 45-minute trip to my parent's house as my confidence was at all-time low with the company. This is a home that my father, mother and I built together in 1979. The technician was baffled on how to get the leak stopped. When I arrived, I was greeted with two pints of water on a soaked carpet, a continuing leak, and an improper attempt to undo a water shut-off. The technician left without even cleaning up the soaking carpet!

How did we get here from a handle-valve and pressure relief valve replacement estimate request?

I worked late into the evening after quickly stopping the leak on my own and used our own shop-vac and a fan striving to save the carpet and flooring underneath. All the while, reflecting on how the Laurel Fuel Oil management berated me for reporting the problem, trying to share my complaint (with little success), followed by literally being chewed out and being hung up on by the CEO, Richard in the end.

Trust me, this is not a company anyone should do business with. Unfortunately, I had to learn this lesson the hard way, and hope this review is helpful to all. I regret having to write negative reviews, and rarely ever do. Yet, without doubt, it is my civic duty to so per Laurel Fuel Oil.
