Rapid response when our AC broke in a heat wave. Competitively priced and clearly outlined quote, with different options. Understood our desire to get our house cool ASAP with a little one and came over the same night the equipment was delivered to him. Polite and professional service and very much recommended.

Had a problem with my AC, Alfred from A.E.C. came by and diagnosed my problem for a reasonable fee. Rather than push hard to sell me on an expensive fix that would take several weeks due to the chip shortage, he suggested alternative solutions and now my AC works again. He seems like a very honest person, exactly what you want when dealing with expensive HVAC systems.

Professional, thorough, and honest. Alfred came out to diagnose a potential problem with my heat pump but checked it out and told me that everything was in working order, didn’t try and invent problems or make a sale. Patiently answered all my questions. Great!

I utilized this contractor to service my HVAC system. Alfred was not only responsive, polite and reasonably priced we freely discussed his training and certifications from Montgomery College, Rockville Campus!

I gave AEC a call to get my gas heater checked out before it got too cold outside based on positive reviews on Next Door. I was able to schedule an appointment quickly. Alfred, who I presume is the owner, checked out my unit and walked me through the whole process. He explained everything very clearly as he performed the work and answered every question that I had. I was so pleased with his work that I signed up for a yearly maintenance plan.

Unlike most companies, Alfred is owner, salesman, and main technician. He is very responsive and knowledgable, and takes the time to do things right.

My existing AC unit needed to be replaced due to old age and compressor failure. The system was also not configured for optimized airflow. Other companies I had provide quotes were more expensive and overlooked the improper configuration. Alfred demonstrated his attention to detail and experience by noticing the issue and installing the unit properly.

Additionally, my old unit failed right at the beginning of successive heat waves. As it was the summer of 2021, manufacturers had depleted inventory. Alfred checked-in with the warehouse daily to see when they would have new units in stock. As soon as they received them, Alfred picked up the unit and installed it next day. He worked long hours--coming over on a Friday at 4pm after a full day of work--to ensure that I received AC as soon as possible.

I can't say enough good things about him and his work. As stated on his website, he truly provides "individualized service" and exceeded expectations.

June 2024 - I am back with another review! I woke up to no AC today. Alfred was at my house in less than an hour and my AC was pumping in less than 2 hours from my call - without leaving me broke! I fear that he will blow up one day and not be able to deliver the same level of service, but that would be stingy of me not to promote him! 😂 Can't say enough great things - support small business!

A few years ago - during the height of covid -
We have heat again thanks to A.E.C.!!!

The circuit board on our 5 year old furnace was not converting the input power to the output power (120v to 24v). Apparently the brand I have, International Comfort Products, had a private label circuit board (can't think of another way to describe it) that was actually manufactured by Carrier.

The first company we has come out, GAC, was not able to come the same day, yesterday. Then today they said the actual transformer was fine, but it was the board that was bad. They quoted me $1236 (as a "VIP" bc I subscribed to their service after a central air fiasco in the summer) and said the part wouldn't be here for two days. They didn't offer to see if the part was still under warranty or anything.

However, A.E.C. saved the day! He walked me through some trouble shooting over the phone first and suggested I reach out to the manufacturer because we weren't sure exactly when it was installed. Then he made it to my house the same day, found an alternative to the private label circuit board (a Carrier universal model), swapped out a transformer that was in fact bad, educated us that we were using our two thermostats incorrectly, AND saved me HALF the money that GAC was trying to get out of me!

I will recommend Alfred over and over and over again! Thank you to him, his honesty, his integrity and to all on the Nextdoor app that recommended him!

Also, he takes great covid-19 precautions and tolerated my two loud mouth ankle biters 😊

Alfred is a fantastic HVAC tech and just an all-around nice guy. He helped us with our old failing system for a few years and finally replaced it at a reasonable price. Highly recommend.

Alfred is great! I called on a Saturday morning when my heat wasn't keeping up, he spent an hour on the phone with me working through getting it working again because he didn't have availability that day. Came out a few days later to inspect, and gave a thorough rundown of the situation with great explanations.

We’ve had some horrible experiences with HVAC companies, but working with A.E.C Heating & Cooling has been quite pleasurable. We wanted to replace our AC unit and after meeting with a few companies we decided to work with A.E.C. We did not choose them because they were the cheapest (their cost was more in the middle of all of the quotes we received), but we really appreciated Alfred’s honesty, responsiveness and openness. Alfred answered every single question we had and never made us feel like any question was stupid. He was upfront about what sort of AC unit would be best for our existing system, explained why others we asked about would not work and he did not try to shove the most expensive unit down our throats. Prior to giving us the quote Alfred essentially walked us through all of the things that he would work on and after the work was completed he walked us through again and showed us the completion of everything that he promised. On the day of the replacement Alfred and Manny completed all of the work with Manny mainly working inside and Alfred mainly working outside. Along the way they gave us progress updates and warnings (loud noises or strange smells) and cleaned up everything after the job was completed. Overall we are very satisfied with Alfred and his team and they will be or go to for all of our HVAC needs going forward.

Update: 2 years in and am still very happy with AEC. Review: Alfred is a best kept secret (that I’m letting out). I found him on another review site and I’m so happy with his work. He seems to love Heating and Cooling. My experience with other companies during the twice yearly check ups are usually “wham bam thank you ma’am” but Alfred takes time to explain what he’s doing and how to set the thermostat so I can save energy and money. Also, when I checked around for prices, his twice yearly maintenance fee is substantially lower than other companies’.

We are very happy with the work done by A.E.C. Heating Company. Our furnace broke down in December, and even though I'm sure they were busy, they got us right up front on their list. Also, even though there were many furnace models that were sold out (supply chain problems this year), Alfred did the research to find exactly the features we wanted in a furnace. He always showed up when he said he would, and texted to keep us updated as to his exact arrival times. He definitely explored ways to repair the furnace first, but since those turned out to be too expensive to be worthwhile, recommended replacement. Our new furnace works beautifully! Alfred also takes the time to answer all questions and explain things in a way that is easy to understand. Very highly recommended!

Alfred is the consummate professional. Prompt, courteous, true to his word and very knowledgeable. We will definitely use him for all future AC maintenance needs. In addition to a timely repair, we also had him install an air purifier and UV air cleaner -- so important nowadays.

Alfred is a lifesaver. Our furnace went out in the middle of winter last year. He installed a new furnace with ease. We were unsure of what type and brand of furnace to install. His advice and recommendations were spot on for us. His work is outstanding and he is a pleasure to work with. He has gained our trust and will use him for all of our HVAC needs in the future.

This team is the BEST! We started to slowly have issues with our system and being on maintenance plan with them, they were able to warn us ahead of time of what to expect. We had them install new heat and air conditioning system here at our place of business. We are very pleased with their work and will continue to use and recommend them to our neighbors and friends.

Alfred and team are amazing! They came out to our College Park home for an initial assessment, did not push a sell and gave me thoughtful recommendations about next steps. When we decided to do a full HVAC system replacement with them, they gave us a very reasonable price, scheduled within a week, and sent regular reminders. On the day of replacement, they were professional, very respectful of the house, and very clean. Alfred explains everything in detail, and they even took off the chimney liner from our bill because upon further inspection he determined we didn’t need it. Other installers might have just done it anyway for the extra cash. When they were done, you would never even know they were there except for the new system that works great and keeps our house feeling so much more comfortable. Highly recommend!
