Petro crew is incredibly knowledgeable and hard working, #1 priority is the customer. Top notch craftsmanship and great guys, wouldn't call anyone else. Even the inspector noted the quality of their work to me privately.

Beware! Do not have a contract with them, it will be a nightmare! I was with them for 2 years, but when realized that every company around was charging $1.05 per gallon and I was being charged by Petro $2.89 per gallon, I called to talk to them about it, and to ask them to consider charging the current price of oil. They said that they couldn't do anything. I paid my balance and cancelled the service. 3 days later, another charge on my checking account, for a few more gallons delivered at a ripping off price. There are many respectful companies around, I've never had such a bad experience with any.

Petro called to cancel my furnace tune-up 1 hour before they were scheduled to arrive. I had taken work off that day just for this.
A couple months later, they did the exact same thing, cancelled about an hour before scheduled to arrive. AGAIN, I had taken off work. This is inexcusable. Each time, they feed you the “but we’re an emergency based company so we have to tend to emergencies first” excuse.
It feels like a company this large spanning like 8 different states should have enough crews to service their jobs.

As a consumer, this feels all too familiar these days. Petro feels like another big company that’s gotten top heavy while its clients suffer through sub-par service because they simply need the product. I will be looking to cancel my services with them (can’t wait for them to tell me about the fee associated with removing the tanks or something like that). Petro, you’re doing this to yourself.

Firstly not the best prices but that's a business decision and I can still live with it. During recent oil delivery the truck ran over our lawn damaging part of the driveway and the lawn sunk in 6 inches or more. Our driveway is wide enough that we have had 2 such big trucks easily parked next to each other. Sent them pictures, tried to follow up for weeks and standard response is "someone will reach out to you" but nothing. After weeks someone calls and says oh we were waiting for you to send us an estimate which really pissed me off. On top of that how do you expect me to reach out to multiple contractors (for driveway, for lawn, etc.) convince someone to come over for a small job and provide an estimate. Terrible customer service, and there is no email where you can reach out without having to call

If I could rate lower, I would. I purchased my home in 2016, this company had already been assigned to me to deliver oil. The first year was fine, they delivered ($400) each time for delivery. As the winter months went on, I couldn't keep up with paying the $400 they wanted right away or I wouldn't get next delivery. I called and spoke to many people at this company, who never once mentioned a payment plan to me, expected the money upfront. I would pay $100, $150 at times. they told me that was not good enough. I had put in a delivery request because I was low on oil and in the winter time, they told me it would be 24-48 hours . From not receiving oil, I called company and who ever I spoke to never put in the delivery!

I then cancelled my services with them, and found a new company, with a budget plan that works for me, and are much more pleasant & helpful to speak to. Since canceling, I have received letters in the mail offering me low rates, and of course even payment plans( never once offered that to me before) I still had a balance with them , in which they sent a lawyer after me.(not like I wasn't trying to pay off the balance or anything) I would never refer anyone to this company, and even a co worker of mine had them and switched , cant imagine why?!?!?!

I never take the time to write reviews but I had to for Petro. I found the company through a google search because I needed an emergency delivery of oil during one of the coldest days of the year. I was in a bind because I had not looked at my gauge in months and didn't realize it was empty. They told me they could get a technician to deliver an emergency few gallons that day and would send someone within a day or two to fill my tank. I couldn't believe how easy they made it and I really appreciated their dedication. I signed up for the automatic refills and am now a regular customer!

I usually don't leave reviews especially bad ones. But this has to be told. Honestly I wish I could give zero stars!

I signed up with them back in November. I was told I would have automatic fill ups each month. Well when it came time for my next fill up, no delivery was made until I called to complain 2 weeks later.

Flash forward to the end of December and my boiler goes into "hard lockout". This happens on Monday night. I call them around noon on Tuesday and was scheduled for between 6 and 10 that night. When I call them at 9:45, I'm told the tech was running late and wouldn't be in the area until after 11. This was too late for me as I'm an electrician who gets up early for work. They offer me the next earliest appointment which was Wednesday between 5 and 8 p.m.. At 7:45 I call them again to ask where the tech was. And again I'm told he wouldn't make it here until between 10 and 11.

On both accounts I recieved no phone calls from the tech or customer service to tell me they were running late.

I had to call a different company to come service the furnace. I will be canceling my contract with Petro and will gladly see them in court if they try to hold me to my contract.

Eddy Ward is an excellent oil service guy. Highly recommended.

Pete 508 was excellent in the diagnostics and service of my system.

Was in need of oil and found the Petro website to offer 24/7 communication availability. The site leads you to believe the 24/7 availability is for any* account new or existing. Apparently it is only for current accounts. Although I talked to a real live person, they would or could not open an account or take my money for a new account. I inquired about the new account credit and the fact that I could call the 24/7 line to get information about it and was told it again was only for current accounts which the credit would not apply to. Misleading and frustrating availability and communications

Been a long time customer since they purchased Atlas GlenMor. Love the customer service, sales team and technician. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable.

Andrew saved another Petro customer today. I did not realize that we were on a variable plan which entail my budget to increase drastically this year. I had called in for options to keep my budget low and Andrew had the solution that fit our families budget. We were so close to cancelling our account as Petro does have the highest variable rate (now that we are aware) than our local oil companies. But we love their services. Andrew introduced us to ceiling rate at todays rate for 12 months and it fits within our budget. Thank You Andrew!

This was simply (and still is) a horrendous experience with this company. I do not enjoy giving bad reviews, but this one is necessary.

I recently purchased a home that the previous owners used Petro. While we were still doing renovations, and before we had moved in, our thermostat went on the fritz during some very cold months. I called Petro.

Not only did they attempt to lock us into a predatory contract - we were told we had to do this before someone could come out and look at our thermostat, but it would be covered under contract. In fear of our pipes freezing with no heat in the house - I bit the bullet because they said they would be there by 5PM same day... they didn't show up until almost 1 AM.

I was later told that "anything arising in the first month or so of contract is considered a preexisting condition and not covered"

Not only did the technician misdiagnose the issue after 2 minutes (saying it was electrical and he couldn't help), he walked out with my brand new Nest thermostat in his pocket. Feeling jaded with an unprofessional service, I called a competitor the next morning. They were at my house within 30 minutes and fixed it in another 30. That being said, I had to buy a NEW thermostat from them just to get heat in my house.

I called Petro to let them know what happened, they apologized and said that due to inconvenience of taking my thermostat, they wouldn't charge for sending the technician out (which is the only cost accrued to date). We were able to annul the contract with them (they have fine print that you can fill out a cancellation form within 1 week of signing contract with no charge).

Fast forward to today. I have received dozens of invoices/collections demanding that I pay for services rendered. I call them, explain the situation and said it was supposed to be wiped. I get met with attitude and Petro workers not believing me. I get passed to every department available, and told I will get calls back. Never a call back, no resolution - it's been 6 months.

Petro has cost me hundreds of dollars beyond what it should have cost to fix as well as hours of my life sitting on hold being passed around due to their incompetence. I did not want to have to post a negative review, but judging by the many other negative reviews, this is apparently the only way to resolve this issue.

Petro, when you read this - Call my back so you can stop spamming me once and for all.

I had a great experience with Petro Home Services. They gave me a n acceptable quote on a Trane furnace to replace the one I had. Their installation crew did a very good with the installation and follow-up. I'll definitely use Petro Home Services for any future HVAC needs.

Update to review: So After posting the review below, I received an immediate email from Petro wanting to speak to me. I spoke to a few customer service reps, a field service supervisor and a manager. Hardly worth the effort. I was billed over $2200 in labor for a repair to an HVAC system Petro installed 3 years ago and under warranty...the 4th person who came to the house fixed it almost immediately where the 1st 3 buffoons were clueless. I was also billed for an annual service agreement where they are supposed to do a quick annual check up/maintenance to the 2 HVAC systems purchased. They blew off the appointment but I was billed the annual amounts anyway. I should not have been billed for either yet they refuse to rectify this. They won't return my last call....I am less pleased now than when I first posted the original review. They are a billion dollar company and I am trying to be reasonable and the mgrs and supervisors were polite but useless. We have been a customer for 15 years and about three years ago had Petro install an HVAC system in the house. For the first three years the system ran great, we had a service agreement with them and they came and serviced it with no issues. We had a service agreement checkup earlier in the summer which I took the day off to be there, the called in the middle of the day that they were scheduled and cancelled because they were too busy. So I rescheduled for August 15th...approximately a week before that day, the system died (10 year warranty on the system luckily), 1st guy comes to the house and says it is the fan motor...so a week or so later, they install that and that doesn't solve the problem, so they order some more parts...they come to install that and it worked for 3-4 days and then dies again...so then they send a 3rd guy and for some reason it turned on and was running while he was there, looked at it and said I guess you are all set...and hour later it dies again...so the next morning a 4th guy comes. This tech was actually very thorough, he told me the coil was partially blocked and the drip pan was full, so it had an auto shut-off and he also stated that "one would have to be a special kind of stupid to miss this stuff". I was glad he fixed it and finally diagnosed it, but in the meantime, I was billed approximately $2000 in labor and $500 in freon, etc. as well as billed for the service agreement that they blew off which is another $350...so when I heard the 4th tech state what he stated I demanded a partial refund as they sent 3 unqualified, uninterested techs and was being billed for it. After repeated calls, I finally spoke to a Field Service Supervisor who followed up with the techs and then gave me double talk and said he would adjust the $149 diagnostic fee and would not admit there was any mistakes on their part. In my opinion there is no way in the one week that the new parts were installed that the coil would be blocked, and the drip pan full...they never did the proper diagnostics to begin with. I am livid at the treatment we received as we paid a lot for this system as well as the annual service agreements. We also use them for the heating service and oil delivery. Thus, we have paid them a lot of money over the years. And have always been good customers. Disgusted by the treatment we received. They are not the company they used to be.

My parents have used this company for decades, and last year they both passed and I took over the house. I had a few issues and called for service over the past year and they were able to resolve it. Well today the heat won't come on after I had just placed a service call the previous month and gotten our heat working.
Trying to place a service call tonight, I am suddenly met with red tape because with both my parents dead, I can't get service because I'm not authorized, and I am told that the company will NOT schedule service until I can forward death certificates of my parents.
I flat out asked her "So what you and your supervisor are telling me, is that the red tape of the account holder being wrong is more important than fixing the heat in this house in the middle of December?"
All she could do is stammer about protocols. Yeah that sounds real good to someone with no heat.

I would not advise anyone to use this company as its been made clear to me tonight that they value paperwork over their customers' wellbeing.

Being forced to dig through a firebox 10:30 at night to forward proof of my parents' death, just so I can get my broken heat fixed that the people and pets in this house depend on, is humiliating and insulting to say the least.

I scheduled an HVAC service with Petro Home Services for Friday between 12 PM and 3 PM. Initially, I was told the technician would arrive by 2 PM, but no one showed up. By 3 PM, I called to follow up and waited on hold for over 30 minutes. I was then told the technician would take another 30 minutes to an hour to arrive.

I understand delays happen, but better communication and respect for customers’ time would go a long way. Sitting around for hours with no updates is frustrating and unprofessional. Disappointed with this experience so far. Will update after service.

Update: it’s now 5pm and the technician finally arrived.

Dealing with this oil company was an absolute debacle. While on vacation, My oil tank was fully depleted, leaving my residence devoid of hot water and heat. After 4 days of bureaucratic inefficiency, speaking with a (different representatives each time-reexplaining the entire situation) they insisted I have to settle the previous tenant's $300 balance in order to remove a delivery hold that was in place due to a balance from when I did not live there, After five days of relentless disputing and numerous calls, I paid the balance-only to be informed that my delivery would still be delayed by several days. Their deceit regarding delivery times and the necessity to reiterate my situation to different representatives was beyond infuriating. I was left without oil for a week and a half and unjustly charged over $200 for ineffectual technician visits. This company's incompetence and lack of communication utterly ruined my vacation and left me without oil for 10 days.
If you’re thinking about using this company to provide oil- you will have better luck trying to heat your home with a candle

I have been a customer since 1998 when Petro was Whalco. Always great service for oil delivery and burner maintenance and repair. My burner was old and on its last legs. I got a new one from Petro. They removed the old one and installed a new one in 1 day. Great friendly service at a reasonable and competitive price. Highly recommend Petro.

They failed to deliver oil as scheduled. This caused my burner to stop working. I was left without heat and hot water for nearly 36 hours (still don't have them as I am writing this review). This company used to be good. I like their technicians. However, recently their scheduling has been very unreliable. They cancelled my tune up within 12 hours of the scheduled time, failed to deliver oil as scheduled, and postponed other repair appointments several times. The so called 7x24 "emergency" services are often booked out, and you have to wait until the next day. Apparently, out of heat and hot water for 36 hours when it is 16 degree Fahrenheit outside is not considered an emergency to them. If you do not have enough technicians, hire more!!! Whoever is in charge of the scheduling department probably should be fired.

Technician was great with my two kids. They were fascinated from the moment he walked in the door. They stood a few feet away from him while he worked. He was friendly and engaging. The kids loved him. A great ambassador for the company.
