We hired Erik and Stella home for a massive renovation of our 1800s home. The project was a gut renovation of half of our house including kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, mudroom, dining room and den. We stayed basically on time despite finding multiple structural surprises that needed to be dealt with. We lived in the other half of the home during the reno and so interacted with his team daily. They were simply lovely people to deal with. It’s now been more than 2 years since we finished and we’re still so happy with the results. Would not hesitate to recommend Stella and would work with them again (and probably will for the other half at some point).

We hired Stella to redo our roof. Steve came out the day after we asked if he could come by and take a look at our roof after we found a few shingles that blew off. We were told when we bought the house that the roof had been recently done but that was not the case (likely our own fault for not having a proper inspection). After Steve explained there were granules that were falling off the current shingles and that it was not a matter of if but when we needed to get a new roof.

Fast forward to a week later, Steve had priced out the roof and the materials were already at our house for the crew to start work. The crew showed up the next day and the old roof was off and the new roof on in one day. Incredibly fast! The crew also had made sure to protect the garden flowers in the front and there was nothing left on the ground such as nails or shingle parts. It was like they were never there.

Steve sent me photos when he came the next day to ensure the work was exceptional, which it was. If you are thinking of using Stella for any home improvement service you will have A+ work with A+ customer service. My wife and I cannot recommend them enough!

Erik, Kevin and Stella Construction did a wonderful job on our home remodel. Erik provided top notch service from the initial walk-through as we described our vision all the way through the final punch list. Like many in the Greater Boston area we own a home nearly 100 years old and our plans involved several complicated decisions (especially the HVAC and the structural aspect of an addition). Erik dedicated a lot of time to us talking through all the options before we even signed a contract. He provided us with several recommendations for each supplier (tile, cabinets, lighting, etc) and all the materials were of high quality. We made the decision to live in our home during construction and our project manager and the whole team were very respectful of our space and accommodating to having a family on site during the project.

We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend Stella Construction for any home remodel needs. Our project involved an addition to our kitchen including a 1/2 bathroom & mudroom, adding extra floor space on 1st and 2nd floors, remodeling our 2nd floor bathroom, and doubling our closet space in two bedrooms. We removed the gas boiler and replaced it with electric heat pumps, re-did much of the old plumbing & electric, replaced water & sewer lines, and added a rainwater run-off basin among other items. The project lasted roughly 6-months and Erik, Kevin and their crew were very responsive during the project and addressed everything to our satisfaction.

Joe and Erik did a great job renovating our new condo. We gutted the only bathroom (and all of its layers of history) for a complete renovation. We updated for more efficient heating by replacing old windows, adding radiant floor heating, and adding a tankless combi-boiler, where we noticed immediate noticeable energy bill saves. Finally, they did some cosmetic changes throughout - painting everything, adding a kitchen backsplash, replacing fixtures, as well as fixing other miscelaneous items found in the inspection.

They laid out a plan and executed to the plan. Joe was a great project manager working with our schedules and providing updates along the way.

I was recommended to Stella Construction and Home Services by a friend and I am happy to say I was not disappointed. I originally hired them to rebuild the stairs off my deck and expand the deck itself. During the course of the project, they identified additional issues, including a leaking rubber roof under the deck.

Stella handled everything with professionalism and efficiency. They took care of all the necessary permits and made sure every aspect of the job was completed to a high standard. The rubber roof was completely redone, and the deck rebuild exceeded my expectations—it's better than I could have imagined.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with their work and would highly recommend Stella Construction and Home Services to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship and reliable service.

We hired Stella to finish our attic (added stairs, living space/office and a master bath). We live in the second floor condo in two family built in the 1920s. They were incredibly organized, communication was nonstop throughout the project, they went above and beyond our expectations. They were incredibly patient with accommodating our need. They pretty much got the project done almost two months ahead of schedule. Every service provider that came through our door was so nice and thoughtful (we lived through it for the whole 6 months and we didn’t have a lot of space to begin with and my husband works from home). We are so happy with the finished project!

We had a leaking roof that we tried to repair twice but the leak kept. Coming back. Called up Stella, explained the issue. Steve came by the next day in the pouring rain, got up on the roof and and examined everything. We contracted to replace 6 skylights and redo half of our roof. End result was that his crew did the job in one day (remarkable!) with proper ice shields and edges, and…. No more raining in the house !! Work crew was respectful and worked their tails off and… they completely cleaned up when done. A+ job on the roof

Of course, I had to get the ceiling in the living room fixed too because of the leak in the roof. Erik’s crew came in and inspected the insulation, replaced the Sheetrock, spackled and painted half the ceiling. Done in a day and a half. Looks great. Team was very professional and covered everything- even papered the areas on which they walked from the front door to the work area. First class operation and excellent workmanship. Another A+.

I especially like that they are locally owned and you talk to the owners, not some operator in another state. Highly recommended.

I recently hired Stella Construction and Home Services to remodel my two-family home in Somerville, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience and the final result. From start to finish, their team was professional, communicative, and truly exceptional in every way.

The project involved a significant renovation of the upstairs (larger) unit while my family lived in the downstairs unit. Once we moved upstairs, they also made modifications to prepare the lower unit for rental. The scope was extensive—a full gut renovation of the kitchen and bathroom, adding a bedroom to the upstairs unit by reconfiguring space from downstairs, removing popcorn ceilings and textured walls throughout, replacing two bedroom ceilings, and tackling major plumbing, electrical, and painting work. On top of that, they built a custom Murphy bed with a wall of shelves; crafted built-ins that blend seamlessly with the character of my 1905 home; and added beams to ceilings so my kids could have swings in their bedrooms.

From my initial meeting with Erik Kortz to the day-to-day management by Kevin Donahue, the process was smooth, transparent, and well-organized. They were on time, on budget, and incredibly easy to communicate with. No matter how many "great ideas" I had along the way (there were a lot), they handled change orders seamlessly and never got flustered. Even with my ongoing input, they managed to keep the project on schedule—a truly impressive feat.

Their team of subcontractors is both talented and trustworthy. For five months, I had people in my home every day, and I felt completely comfortable with them. Now that the work is done, I love, love, love my house and still can’t believe I get to live here.

It looks like they don’t want to do business anymore. Their phone is just an answering machine and no options to speak to anyone if you don’t know an extension number. It is ridiculous.

We had an appointment through Thumbtack. They didn't show or bother telling me they couldn't come.

Rob & team were great to work with; professional and courteous always to renovate our old 1950s kitchen to a beautiful modern and highly functional kitchen space. They patiently listened to all our requirements in the beginning and along the way through the project and were very responsive to address any questions or needs. We never had to worry if the project was going to be delayed as Rob kept us and his team on timeline all along.

Wonderful crew to work with. Attention to detail, and work was done on time. I love entertaining on my new deck. Thanks to Rob and Toro construction for getting it done so I could use it all summer.

We had our kitchen fully renovated and 2 of our bathrooms partially remodeled (full shower installed in one, new vanity, light, and mirror in the other bathroom). The quality of the work was exceptional.

Very pleased with our experience with Toro Construction. Rob and his team were professional and communicative. Renovated a tenant's apartment and replaced a basement door. We got four quotes and they all came in around the same price. But Rob was the only one to put in all in writing correctly, detailing the work and pricing. He actually talked us out of extra work we originally wanted and he was right. Very good experience.

Only have great things to say about Toro Construction. Their quote was fast and fair, and their work was great! We used them to add a second story addition. They finished faster than we expected, and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Communication was great along the way, and all of the workers were extremely friendly. Loved the convenience of being able to make all payments online vs having to write out a check. The business is run very well! We love our new addition! Highly recommend Toro Construction!
