We had a great experience with Knapp Valley Gardens. Tim Gordon was a project manager and was always on site and promptly communicating regarding our project. He did regular walk-throughs to make sure things get done right and was very responsive to requests. His team was great workers.

Very happy with KVG's landscaping work at our condo, they are .detail-oriented and the cost is reasonable. Would hire them for future projects, including landscape maintenance.

We had a patio installed by Knapp Valley. Mike kept us informed during the whole process and was there on several occasions. Jeff and Kevin did an excellent job. They worked through the heat and the rain. They were very responsive and paid attention to detail. We would definitely use them again in the future. We are recommending them to others.

Bought a decent sized pine and an oak ($800), plus delivery and installation ($550) The trees themselves were fine upon selection, even if more expensive compared to other places.

The issue is delivery and installation, done in the fall of 2024. They dug shallow holes that weren’t much bigger around than the balled and burlapped root ball. The root flare ended up almost a foot above ground level. The wire basket was left on, surrounded by burlap that was secured tightly on the trunk with multiple winds of twine. The planted-too-high trees, roots wrapped tightly in wire and burlap, were surrounded by a mulch volcano nearly a foot up the trunk of each tree. The installation of two trees and mulch took less than 45 minutes.

A professional landscape gardener would unwrap some, if not all, of the burlap around the root ball. As they left it, roots struggle to grow and absorb water and nutrients - spending energy trying to tear through burlap. The wire basket would be cut in multiple places, if not removed. The burlap wouldn’t be cinched around the trunk with twine that cuts into the bark. Mulch wouldn’t be added so high that the trunk is prone to rot and disease.

They charged a lot, didn’t do much work, and set the trees up for failure. If I hadn’t remedied the situation myself by unplanting, removing the baskets, most of the burlap, and twine - they’d be dead.

Knapp Valley did an amazing job with our yard. They removed sod, created beds, planted flowers and placed rocks all in one day! Efficient and kind workers that went above and beyond!

Knapp Valley just completed a paver stone patio area for us. Top notch staff, Tim Gordon's communication was perfect from start to finish. Give them a chance, you will not be disappointed.

Moment I walked in, I fell in love with this place. Greeted by Brandon, walked with me for almost an hour to show me what I was looking for and help me find the exact things I needed and more.
They have the most healthy and amazing products and a lot of Japanese maple collections in all sizes. This is a place to go! Their price is fair compared with some other places but only better quality and sizes or better price when similar size with other nursery.
You must visit here first before you see other ones!

Nate and Mountain did a fantastic job giving our alley space new life! Mountain’s creativity and Nate’s work ethic definitely shows through on the final product. I highly recommend Nate and Mountain for any landscaping needs!

Awesome experience picking out a few trees for our backyard. Everyone there was super friendly and thought it was hilarious how fast we found trees we liked 😂
The price included delivery and planting, which we loved, and they delivered them a little ahead of schedule. The people who showed up for delivery were so friendly and funny. I wasn't totally sure about spacing and which one should go where, and they were so happy to help us with that too. They also let our dog check them out before planting them, so that's huge kudos for sure. I noticed one of them picking up mulch with his fingers and placing it perfectly around the tree - an attention to detail I'll never understand, but really appreciate. I really want to think of something else to do next year just to hire them again. Great experience.

Knapp Valley Gardens just completed a fabulous landscaping project at our home, and I cannot praise them enough for their careful and thorough workmanship. From selecting the stone for a wall to choosing trees and shrubs for planting, we had expert guidance. Our project was completed on schedule, the stone wall is gorgeous, and was built with great skill. The trees and shrubs we selected arrived in peak condition, and were planted with care.
We recommend Knapp Valley for excellence in the quality of their hardscape work and the great array of trees, shrubs, and plants they stock.

We recently had Knapp Valley do the landscaping for us in our front yard and remake a side walkway. There was overgrown Myrtle and old plants that desperately needed to come out. Tim at KnappValley reached out and made a beautiful plan for us that was right within our budget. What I loved is that I could go right to them and pick out my rocks and my tree and all my plants and knew just was I was getting. So easy and fun! Nate and Brennan were fantastic in getting everything ripped out and putting in the new plants. The new path they made to our deck is perfect. Two hard working guys that were super nice and so great to work with. Thanks guys! Thanks to everyone at Knapp Valley. Beautiful job. We’re thrilled😊❤️

Knapp Valley Gardens just installed a solid stone step at each of the entrances to our home. Before this installation, guests encountered a 10" high step, daunting for many of our friends. The stone steps were installed with the proper preparation to seat them securely, and will improve accessibility and safety. As always, the Knapp Valley staff were thorough, careful, and courteous.

I wish I could be returning and raising my rating and saying wonderful things about this service. However this is review #2

2017 Our landlord has hired this service to maintain our building. I have never really loved their work. If I were cutting the check: they would not be hired again. They do not salt the drive at all. I slipped on the ice in the lot and fell Monday Night. This evening I had clients who were suppose to come, but would not come in the driveway as it had not been plowed. I can not run a business with a poorly maintained lot. I personally got stuck trying to go to physical therapy: which I badly need. I called for hours and they never answered or responded. I ended up having someone come and pick me up this evening, leaving my car stuck in the middle of the lot. They had yet to show up to plow once today when I left after 9:00 PM! 2014 S & S was hired to plow our drive for the first time this year. In January our front stoop had the carpet plowed away. They were contacted and asked to rectify the situation. It is now the end of JULY....and we are still waiting for them to resolve the problem. Rather unsightly and dragging down the face of our business. We are not appreciative.

We have had S & S lawn care for 15 plus years and have had nothing but 5 star service. They do our lawn care & plowing in winter. They do excellent work. Recently we redid the area around our pool. Dave came out & designed the area. It is beautiful and was done in a timely matter. Would highly recommend them.

I don’t actually employ S&S because my lawn is so small but several of my neighbors use them and I wanted to write a review anyway. They are the most considerate and professional lawn care company I have seen since moving to Grand Rapids - always making sure to make sure things look great while not cutting corners and blowing leaves and debris all over the neighborhood. Thank you and I highly recommend!!!
