I had a great experience with the Southside team throughout a big job they did so I could sell my house. The electricians were skilled and friendly, and the support staff was awesome. Everything cost less than I expected.

By far the best contractor I worked with. I had a house fire and Southside did a top to bottom rebuild of the house electrical. They worked with me ahead of time to figure out all of the small details for my job. The electrician worked with me on changing some details of my job post bid, and explained how to make it not cost extra.

One of the electricians did make a mistake and damaged some property. They immediately called me, admitted the mistake, and the main office made it right.

I can't imagine a better way of doing business.

Super friendly, didn't mind the mess I had during the emergency repair. Brad was very informative and good spirited. Replaced lighting covers that he noticed were missing. Thanks for the fix. Go Buffalo Bills!

Needed to replace a service panel in our home. The electrician we had used in the past was not available for a long period. Called SSE based on reviews on Nextdoor. They came right out, gave a fair estimate, and did the work quickly. Had to come back to install a new ground rod due to frozen ground at the time of original install, but that had that all calendared on their end. Very professional work and easy to work with. Highly recommned.

We are so pleased with the service we received from BRAD today! He installed 3 ceiling fans in our bedrooms, an outlet, a new stairwell lamp, and 5 outdoor lamps. He is friendly, professional and clearly very good at his craft. Can’t wait to have him back for new dining room and living room lights :) I highly recommend you work with Southside Electric!!

South Side Electric is the best in the city. Each of the electricians are great at what they do, and get everything completed timely and efficiently. Al, the VP, has helped me a number of times and specifically was very helpful and kind. Big fan of SSE, and it's worthy of your money because it is a local small business with humble beginnings. Can't say enough good things about them!

South Side Electric is amazing! Every staff member has been a pleasure to work with. They respond quickly to requests and scheduling appointments. Their pricing is fair and the work is done quickly and very well. I needed a new outlet installed for an electric vehicle and within a few days of my inquiry I had a consultation and an appointment set up soon after. I cannot thank SSE enough for their speed, professionalism and all around pleasant process. Highly recommend!

Can’t say enough good things about Tom at South Side Electric. After hours emergency call on a holiday weekend, jumped right on it, no complaining, super helpful, stayed until the job was done (11:00 pm). Give Tom a raise, he is great!!!

We are extremely happy with the work by Southside Electric. Al came and gave our estimate and was great. Brad did a fantastic job with the work. My girlfriend's grandpa is a retired electrician and was at our house while Brad worked. He said Brad was very knowledgeable, professional, and efficient.
Before contacting Southside Electric, we had 3 other electrical companies come to our home to give estimates and we were beginning to feel hopeless. We are incredibly thankful we were recommended to Southside and would 10/10 recommend to others.

4 hour job. Told me it would take 1 day. I came home early -at noon, they were packing up. 4 hours , over $5400.00. What a joke. Never again. Robbery 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

The vans they use apparently don't have blinkers based on the guy weaving through traffic.

We had a tree fall on our house in April. This company was contracted for work in our house by Service Restoration, in Bloomington. Dan, one of the owners of the restoration company is friends with Al, the owner of SouthSide. Al entered our home without shoe protectors. He was nice enough, but our experience was poor. The electricians didn't wear shoe protectors either. They scratched our flooring with their ladder and left our old fixtures jumbled on the floor. We signed a separate contract with them for extra work to be performed. I wrote out what we wanted done and the pricing that included. I called several times to get the invoice for the work that was done all the way in August. The woman originally told me she couldn't get it for me because her coworker was out with covid. The second time I called they said they were backed up, but would get the invoice out to me that week. The third time I called last week they said it was billed through insurance. I asked for the invoice and they said they couldn't provide it. They said the work was inspected and all was well, but still couldn't provide me an itemized invoice. I was told I had to work with the restoration team. I spoke with an employee who said originally they don't wear shoe protectors. She then called back and said they do if they are asked, but sometimes they go into hoarder homes and don't feel it's necessary. I requested they wear them through the restoration company, plus it's industry standard. To top it off the woman didn't even have the correct items that were done and they didn't provide pricing for moving a fixture and I was told there would be additional charges after our last conversation. So apparently they can charge you for items, but don't have to provide proper documentation to back it up. Our lights have been flickering and the woman claims it's due to the light bulbs we are using, but it's doing it in rooms we never changed bulbs in. In addition, one of the lights doesn't turn on right away. You have to turn it on and off several times for it to work. This was never a problem prior to them being in our house, but magically they didn't do anything to cause these issues. Furthermore, they took our ac units out of our closets and left them on the floor. They never put it back and the restoration team didn't either. The units were placed on their bacls and suffered damage. Moreover, dust and debris go in them which is not ideal for anyone, bur especially a family that suffers from severe asthma and allergies. Lastly, we overheard their staff talking down about us and our house on the camera. It made the situation worse. We would avoid them!!

I called Mike on a Wednesday or Thursday telling him my pool renovation hit a snag because we needed to upgrade the pool grounding before we could pour new concrete decking. He said he would take care of the permit and be here Tuesday. He sent Brad who completed it quickly and on budget. Had it inspected the next morning and was back on track! Mike and MJ Electric were great to work with with and very reasonable. I got his information from a neighbor. Several neighbors use MJ. Great job and track record.

I had the unfortunate experience today of biking (legally, safely, and in the bike lane) next to an MJ Electric truck when someone inside accosted me and yelled at me that I should be biking on the sidewalk and that I was an “idiot.” I didn’t hear all of what he said, but this happened in two separate incidents on 42nd St. in Minneapolis, just west of Hiawatha. When I called the company after to tell them what happened they claimed it couldn’t have been their company, but it most definitely was (the logo was for this company, not the other national one with a similar name). If this was my company, I’d be pretty appalled by my employee’s mistreatment of a member of the public who was doing absolutely nothing wrong.

MJ Electric was extremely responsive and got out to my place within an hour! Technician was very knowledgeable and communicated everything in great detail. Pricing is extremely fair for the quality of work provided. I highly recommend!

I grew up with Mike and have seen his trucks around and finally had an excuse to use him. John cleaned up a nightmare on the interior breaker panel and updated my garage so I finally weld without blowing every circuit in the neighborhood! Excellent price and quality of work.

We recently did an overhead to underground power line project. MJ Electric did a wonderful job with the service prep and assisted during the installation. Very professional and responsive. Would definitely use them again for any project!

Called Mike as I needed an electrical inspection for a real estate transaction asap. Although they were extremely busy, they did create a time slot for us. The technician was professional and knowledgeable. I will definitely refer MJ Electric to clients and friends.

Just want to give a shoutout to MJ Electric to thank him for his honesty and knowledge when I called on Sunday for a power outage at my house. I explained power went out but it was only half my house. He suggested calling Xcel before sending someone on an emergency weekend call. It was indeed an Xcel outage and power was restored around midnight Sunday night. I’m not sure another electrician would have shared that knowledge but may have come out to trouble shoot as an emergency call on a Sunday. It’s great to have local companies available and I highly recommend MJ Electric.

I called to have a dining room light fixture replaced with a new one. James came out the same day and did a great job. He is very detail oriented and intent upon getting it done perfectly. I am very pleased with the work done. Customer service was top notch!
