JZ has done two large projects for me at two properties, and I could not recommend them enough! Their quotes have been competitive, they are always on time, and all their people are friendly and very professional. But more important than anything else, the quality of their work is exceptional. I would happily recommend JZ to my in-laws.

The first project was a new build basement in an old house, with lots of weird customization of lighting and home theater stuff. They came up with great solutions that worked great! The second project was a knob and tube remediation project. Not only were they one of only a few electricians I spoke to even willing to take it on, they were the only ones who quoted it who even seemed to have confidence in their ability to handle the project. Their experience in dealing with those issues was clear in how they not only got things done quickly, but without a giant mess.

JZ Electric was great to work with. They were able to fit us in with a last second repair.
Matt was awesome. He was personable and was able to fix our issue within a reasonable time.

JZ Electric is now saved to my contacts. Hopefully we will not need an electrician again, but if we do, I wouldn’t use anyone else.

JZ Electric is TOP NOTCH. We needed our electrical panel replaced including a meter relocation. They came out the day after I called to review the project. He was informative and easy to work with. He provided a same-day, competitive quote. The Project Coordinator, Scott, got us on the schedule within a week for the replacement. On the day of the work, Blade and Mitch showed up right on time, made a plan, and got after it.

Now here's the wild part. I left for the day to go to work. A few hours in, Blade calls and says that our fridge is leaking a lot of water (totally unrelated to the work they were doing out in the garage.) They called in another guy, Ryan, to come help take care of the situation. They got our water shut-off and got everything dry. As if that wasn't already above and beyond service, they took apart the fridge to find the source of the leak and made sure it wasn't going to leak again throughout the day while they finished the panel replacement. Ryan called me multiple times throughout the day to keep me updated and figure out next steps. I'm extremely lucky and grateful that they were there when that happened. If that fridge component would have broken and leaked while no one was home, it would have caused major water damage in our house.

Once we were home in the evening, it looked as if nothing happened! They cleaned up everything perfectly. The new panel, meter, grounding, and all wire/conduit look professional and tidy.

I can't thank the team at JZ Electric enough. Their customer service and expert installation far exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for an electrician in Minneapolis, make JZ your first call. Thanks guys!

November 2025 Update: Hired JZ Electric for our kitchen remodel. They were fantastic again! Highly recommend.

We had an incredible experience with JZ Electric replacing some remaining knob and tube wiring in our 1906 home. Despite a very thorough estimate, disconnecting the power revealed more extensive work was needed than initially thought. Our team was extremely flexible, thoughtful in their suggestions for the best way to replace the lighting and outlets with as few holes in our walls/ceilings as possible, and very efficient. They were so respectful in our home and extremely communicative. We’re so grateful we chose JZ for this project and are incredibly happy with the completed work!

We needed a few lights in our home replaced & the team at J-Sim was able to do this for us quickly & affordably. We will be reaching out to them to complete future lighting/electric projects in our home.

Mike was punctual and patiently worked through a complex issue we had with some damaged wiring. Was honest and upfront about the work he was doing, provided regular updates without prompting, and was very personable to boot.

Our dryer stopped working and with five kids all in sports this was a little bit of a problem. The dryer was new and it turned out to be an electrical issue that was going to need our whole panel replaced. Jason jumped to my rescue and had us taken care of even though it was Thanksgiving week. This year we will be able to visit family with clean cloths thanks to Jason and his guys!!!

Jason was very helpful in answering all of my questions prior to install of two new outlets. He was courteous and respectful of our property and was on time. Very reasonably priced. We will definitely use him again.

Our experience was the same as all of the other reviewers: They were easy to reach, incredibly responsive, verified the appointment the day before, were punctual and worked efficiently. They were also transparent about cost. We had a number of outlets replaced with GFIs and several new ones installed. Will definitely call them again for more extensive electrical work later this year.

We had a power outage to the garage after a siding project. The electrician they sent, Russ, was able to diagnose the problem as a short in the wall likely from a nail or screw. He explained the problem and gave me the options to fix it. He got it done in the same day which I really appreciated. It was apparent he really knew his stuff and he was super personable. If I have future electrical problems, I will be using this company and Russ if he is available.

Absolutely loved working with Jason!!! Such a professional team, knowledgeable, great advices and solutions on lightning. Definitely will hire again.

We are thrilled with the work provided by Jason and Mike at J-Sim Electric. Mike installed an exterior Nest cam, replaced a porch light and two bathroom lights (vanity and overhead), added outlets to the basement, and overhead lights in the garage including a switch. Mike was professional and kept us up to date on everything. Will be calling them again for more projects and plan on sharing their info with everyone. Highly recommend.
