Electrical reviews in Kansas City, Missouri

Guiding Light is a great father & son electrical contracting firm that does great work, is reliable & honest, and sticks to it til they get the job done and done right. I recommend without hesitation.

Last night our poor, sweet neighbors had a scary electrical fire in their home. It really made us realize we needed to have some electrical issues in our own home fixed that we had been putting off. I called GLE and they were here first thing this morning to fix everything (there were several things) in a little over 2 hours. I cannot thank them enough for their fast response and quick, efficient work. I highly recommend calling them for any electrical issues you’re having, especially if it’s in your home. That fire was no joke and I’m so glad everyone made it out safely. It’s such a relief to finally have these issues fixed and I know we’ll all sleep a bit better tonight. Thank you again, GLE.

After a falling tree branch ripped our power line and meter off our house we were looking for an electrician to come out as quickly as possible and get us reconnected. John from Guiding Light was the only one (out of 10 contacts) to return my call and was out the next morning. "They fixed it quickly and were very reasonably priced. We even had them do an extra job while they were there because they were so helpful. John even followed up the next day to make sure KCPL had reattached us and that we were up and running. I can't recommend them enough. We will definitely be using them in the future.

Second time for delivery here, fast service and nice staff

Bad service

Just made first time delivery here. Not only is it surrounded by narrow streets, about the rudest staff I have delt with.

This is the worst company to get material from. Unfortunately the company I work for has them as our supplier. Every time I send a material list to them fax or Email I never get a response back. I then have to call and get the run around to finally get my price quote. From what I hear everyone in my company that orders from them run into the same issue. I would never use this company outside my place of employment and hate having to use them at my work.

If you're a truck driver delivery is on a flatbed be prepared to wait. I guess, even though its no where on the BLs, that you need to call 24 hours ahead. Its Monday...they aren't open on Sundays, they obviously ordered the product and then they seamed like the world is ending that someone will have to unload the products they ordered. I dont mind waiting a bit but when you get an attitude because you habe to work.

I'm not a customer, but I was amazed by one of your driver's integrity. I had dropped my work phone after delivering fuel to customer, and I couldn't locate it. I retraced my way, and ended up calling it to try and hear it. You're driver picked up, with the intention to get it to me somehow. I met him at a customers location, and got my cell phone back. The best people do the right thing when no one is looking. If your drivers have this much integrity, it's apparent your company does as a whole.

I give it a 3. The staff was great, in and out quick but there's a potential for it to be bad. You have to blindside because you can only come in one way. The roads are super narrow and the dock isn't quite made for a 53ft trailer with a sleeper. There's also no place to park if the dock is full since there's only 2.

I haven't used Graybar as a supply house in decades and the last 2 times I was told to pick up orders here, I remember why I stopped. When I show up and give an order number that I'm supposed to pick up they should have all items ready for me to pick up on site. Their system separates the order number based on the location it's coming from. When I'm not given the list of what's in the order from the company I'm contracting from, it makes it hard for me to make sure I have all of the parts that were ordered. Their system should print one piece of paper with all of the items on the order, not separating the items according to what warehouse they are coming from. I have found that their system sometimes doesn't print pick tickets for local items or will not tell them that an item is delayed from another warehouse. Their system needs to get fixed quickly or I will refuse to do any job that parts are coming from Graybar Electric.
