I've had the service plan with Petro for 2 years now and it has paid off. The service technicians have been honest about my aging furnace...not pushing me to upgrade, but to let me know that I should consider it soon. They spend a good amount of time going over the furnace and showing us helpful things to be aware of. I definitely recommend utilizing the service plan.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I have a oil tank from 2022 & we are on Auto Delivery & Auto Pay. We had a service done on 11/26 & they filled our tank. Unbeknownst to me, they claimed our tank is "unfixable" & put a stop on our account. They did not email, call me, add a notification in the portal -- absolutely nothing. They did not communicate with me there is an allegedly issue.

We noticed an issue with the heat not working properly & called HVAC. Within the next 24 hours, we lost heat & a pipe burst causing us to spend our entire Christmas Eve & Christmas ripping up carpet & trying to dry out our home.

I am 7.5 Months Pregnant with no heat, the day before I am hosting 25 people for a Holiday Party.

Petro has no information as to what about our tank is "unfixable" & I am struggling to believe that's the case considering is 2 years old & they have been coming regularly for years. They are not escalating the service & technician team to come. Instead, they're telling me someone can pop by around 2am.

EDIT BASED ON RESPONSE: I just spent 1 hour with your team on the phone. If something has suddenly changed & you are able to get a technician out before 2am & refill my oil, you have my number on hand. Do not do this "we're so sorry, email us to rectify" PR nonsense. If you can fix the above, call me.

Petrol came out on 12/26/2024 and get furnace running. Then had to come back next night to install a transformer. The incorrect transformer was installed because technician did not have the correct one. Numerous calls have been made to Petrol on the status. Now two weeks later waiting for service to get back to me with status. Wait in for Service Manager Bruno to get back. I will not hold my breath. Their Customer Service does not exceed Customer Expectations...it is very poor...

Excellent service. The technicians fixed my problems extremely quickly. I have nothing bad to say about Petro!

I don't know what has happened to Petro Home Services, but it's really a shame. It's no surprise the last few Google reviews are 1 star. We have been Petro customers for 10 years and I guarantee this will be our last. As soon as our service contract expires we will be going elsewhere for both our oil and propane. We used to be so happy with Petro's level of customer service and their top notch techs, but no more! We've had five services calls since December and our heat still goes out every two weeks. However, more frustrating than this is the ridiculous windows they give for times of service. The techs do not show up for 2-3 hours after promised if your lucky. As I sit here writing this, it is midnight and they were supposed to be here between 6:30 and 9:30. Still no one has shown up and there has been no call from Petro explaining why. When you call them to explain your frustrations, nothing is done and they continue to operate in the same manner, with complete disregard for their customers time and money. Please don't let them waste yours. There are a ton of choices for home heating, so please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

And Petro, please don't post some genric apology below my post asking me to contact you. I already have, multiple times, and nothing has changed. I'm over it!

Anthony (tech 222), was amazing! After other issues, he professionally solved the problem, with a polite and knowledgeable approach. Personable and responsible, Anthony was a God-send! He's trained and has worked in so many areas, that he brings so much to the job. We've actually requested him for future issues. Definitely recommend!

The rep Johann that was sent to my home in March 2024, to provide an assessment of the current HVAC unit in my home and provide a cost estimate, backed up his truck to my garage door so his vehicle was out of camera range, and stole my Greenworks leaf blower and two batteries, edge trimmer and battery and the battery for the lawnmower.
After many months and several calls to the company the best I could get their "management" is a "hope that it is a misunderstanding" - IT IS NOT.
I was robbed by a PETRO representative that came to my home to provide PAID services. Buyer beware!

I have been a customer for many years. I am extremely frustrated that I have had no heat since 2 PM on Super Bowl Sunday. I have been calling and have left my phone on hold for well over two hours. We are now at 6 AM Monday. I have not received a call back and I keep being told that my call is in queue for a call back. Worst experience with this company ever no heat they already have higher prices than everybody else and ““ the reason is they have excellent service and you can reach them 24 hours a day proven false today.

I've used Petro for my oil deliveries and service for many years. I've had some issues with my furnace, but I also get very prompt service from Petro. Anthony has been to my house several times to fix problems, a true professional who never leaves until the heat is working.

The Petro oil truck was blocking my driveway which is illegal in the state of NJ. I called their customer service and gave my address and even have video of the event. It was truck 1335 on 2/4/2026 at 7:15 am. They actually stated without knowing the service address they couldn’t do anything. It was obviously around my home. This is careless and illegal to do. Hope this is addressed. I can provide the video if needed to prove the validity of my claim. Update: I already went to that link yesterday on 2/4/2026 and it almost been a day without a response. So the responses on here are canned responses and very long reply times. Another Update: 2/6/2026 and filled out the form 2 days ago and no call back. Now 4 days later and still no contact from a manager regarding this situation and if nothing today I will be filing a police report.

Very good company! The oil delivery guys do what they have to do to make their runs at a maximum of 9 minutes. People are complaining about their driveways being blocked, but sometimes there's snow and cars taking up space on a one way street. Don't listen to the last review for they have unresolved anger issues. Last review had to wait no matter what. Their blocked driveway allowed cars to get by. If their driveway wasn't blocked, the whole road would have been and they would have to wait anyway on the one way street full of cars blocking everything. The best coarse of action was taken for the people who really needed the oil got it. It's 1° out right now and the drivers are out there working 70 hours 7 days. So I appreciate their sacrifices. Some people could be selfish and rather have their neighbors freeze from no oil rather than have a vehicle parked in front of their driveway.

Stay away from Petro. —-Zero Star—-
I called yesterday morning asking for a “technician” to check my furnace that was not working properly in the extreme cold. I was scheduled between 4 and 7 pm yesterday, but I guy showed up at 3 pm, luckily I was home early. He blamed the open lower furnace cover for the malfunction ( I opened it to make sure the furnace switch was on) he put it back, claimed that was the reason for the problem and asked about the oil supply in my tank. I told him that when I last checked a couple of days ago the tank was half full. He double checked and confirmed it. In the meantime the heat was on again, but the furnace was still stuttering. The technician said that was ok blaming the extreme cold and that he would put some antifreeze in the tank. He left and wrote a report to the office stating not enough oil in tank, pathway needs to be cleared for delivery.
At 7 pm the heat went off completely. I called the office, requesting a technician as soon as possible.
Kimberly on duty claimed that she contacted her supervisor and the management and they would try to send somebody out that evening. In the meantime I received an email that I was scheduled for service for the next day. After a super cold night without heat I called the office again this morning to get at least a timeframe for today. The lady on the phone told me my scheduled appointment had been CANCELLED?! and the notes she could retrieve said NO OIL IN TANK.
She scheduled me for a new service for this afternoon, maybe earlier if somebody would be available.

I’ve had a terrible experience with Petro Home Services.

On the coldest day of the year (below 0°), my oil tank ran completely empty even though their system showed I was at 80%. Their numbers don’t add up. After my last bill showed ~80 gallons remaining, they supposedly delivered 120 gallons (which should have put me around 200 gallons in a 275-gallon tank). When they finally came out after I ran dry, they only added 110 gallons — and their own records showed the tank as full. That proves their tracking and delivery estimates were wrong.

Because they let my tank run empty in extreme cold, my pipes froze. I’m an HVAC tech and got my heat back running myself, but I still had to pay a plumber to help defrost frozen pipes. This never should have happened.

A week earlier, their service tech confirmed my tank and equipment were fine, yet the office blamed “distribution” and insisted my tank was at 80%. A supervisor said they would “make this right,” but over a week later I’ve heard nothing.

This caused unnecessary stress, risk of damage to my home, and extra out-of-pocket costs. Poor tracking, missed delivery, and zero follow-up. I’m extremely disappointed.

Great experience with Petro -- professional, timely, quality furnace installation (along with the Aerus Air Scrubber which we highly recommend). Everyone we spoke with was extremely professional and accommodating. We had no heat and they came and assessed our older furnace, scheduled and installed a new one quickly. Can't thank the team enough for assisting us during this cold weather and also being extremely clean and respectful of our home. Thank you Petro!!!

On February 9, 2026, during an emergency blue code alert when the temperature dropped to minus 8 degrees, my account was temporarily put on hold due to a pending balance. While I understand the importance of billing accuracy, I had been making consistent partial payments. However, the company's records inaccurately indicated that I had half a tank of oil left when, in fact, I had run out completely.

I had a burner tune-up in October; they should know if there is anything wrong with the furnace.

I attempted to contact the company for two days to resolve this issue but did not receive a response until Monday, February 11. When I finally spoke with a representative, I was informed that I needed to make a payment before they could deliver the oil. I made the payment, but unfortunately, I still made me wait until Wednesday, February 13, for the delivery. To my surprise, they also tried to charge me $160.00 to restart my furnace, despite my having a premier plan that should cover that service, or just don't charge me due to their negligent actions.

They ended up telling me that they wouldn't charge me for that, based on the manager's decision approval, yeah, right.

As a single mother with two children, one of whom has asthma, this company's actions put my family in a situation of terrible emotional distress and risk to our safety.

I believe there is a significant opportunity for the company to improve its communication and stop falsely advertising that it offers emergency services. They need to enhance their customer service processes to better support families like mine in times of need.
