Plumbing reviews in East Hanover, New Jersey

I cannot say in words how pleased I am with Water Heaters NJ. Steve was a man of his word from start to finish. The two young gentleman he dispatched to handle my installation (as well as take away old unit) were true professionals. I highly recommend this company.

This company came to install water heater which cost 1350 (which i thiught was a great deal)but his crew left me with a problem that caused another 600 to repair. And when you call to speak with owner he comes off very harsh and refuses to listen. Stay away from this company at all cost.

If you need a new water heater and want to contact them, you will get a quick answer.
Unfortunately, problems will arise during the factory warrenty period, and you will see their different faces when you need accurate diagnosis and repair.
State law informed me that I had a 1 year free labor warrenty, and even though I would share a service charge , they blocked me from all means of communication.
You will experience a change from a thankful customer to a nuisance.
You may have to pay extra money and time.
I hope their business gets better, But with
Professional technical skills, you should
base on the basic sprit of customer care. -
Very happy with the workmanship and price- a great value- I've had my water heater now about 6 months and everything is as expected. They brought the water heater up to my town's code, something my local plumber did not the previous installation. I would highly recommend them...

Spoke to Steve just yesterday about my leaking water heater and set up an appointment. His guy came on time, installed new water heater, and hauled away old water heater in like 30 minutes. Super professional and friendly. Will definitely recommend them to anyone.

Extremely professional, expeditious and thorough at a reasonable price! I called, and Steve (the owner) called back within the day. I sent pics of my current hot water heater along with my heater that also needed a few things fixed. His men came and changed out everything within a short period of time. The place was clean and they took the old heater with them. Great job!! I would them again!

Extremely unprofessional. When crew arrived, we asked them to wear medical masks that we supplied, as we have an immune deficient member of our household. They gave attitude, but wore. When preforming, one crew member rested his weight against our property. We asked him to move to the hallway. Instead, he left the house. They charged $150 for 15 minutes of work. When contacting the owner, he was belligerent and rude. Will never use again. Recommend gong elsewhere. BEWARE - owner commented - HE WILL NOT WEAR A MASK WHEN ENTERING YOUR HOME - even if you ask.

Water Heaters NJ were in and out in 1/2 hour. The service was great, and they cleaned everything up after the install. Price was in line and reasonable compared to other plumbers/water heater installers I called for quotes.

Water Heaters NJ was recommended by my HVAC contractor, James at HVAC Systems.
They showed up and took the old heater away and replaced with a new one in about 45 mins. They showed up the day after my other heater broke. Very responsive.
The installers were neat, didn’t leave a mess behind. They were very informative and made sure I knew everything I wanted to know about my new heater.
I highly recommend Water Heaters NJ. -
Waterheatersnj.com lacks professionalism by the crew who show up for the job. The 2 young crew who showed up during middle of pandemic, wouldn't wear masks initially. When my wife asked them to wear, they did so unwillingly just covering until mouth but removed them once they started their work. We still let them in, since we were wearing masks anyways and hoping to get the work done quickly . They were loud mouth and arrogant with their attitude from get go. Our sump pump pit is bone dry since 20 years and we don't need sump pump. They started using the sump pit to drain the water from old water heater, which we objected to. But they still filled the pit without listening to our request and within few minutes realized it was wrong option. Then they used motor to drain the remaining water from the old heater through basement window. Before leaving I asked about the sump pit full of water, they said it would drain away. But when I insisted, to use the same motor or some other way to drain, one of them started talking rudely, yelling and used cuss words. I had to call Steve, who tried to diffuse the situation but offered no help other than saying water would go away. Eventually I had to wait for week or so, and drain the pit myself.
But as a home owner, I've never seen or heard of any crew who show up at your house with this attitude and behavior. But after my experience, I searched other reviews for this firm and found similar experience shared by many. It makes me believe this is repetitive behavior with no intention of changing. -
They are totally unprofessional. They dripped lots of dirty water on our freshly-refinished hardwood floors and on the carpeted stairs leading to our basement. Left their garbage (plumbing and ductwork) in our driveway. When we complained to the owner he angrily said that no company ever cleans up after itself and the he "doesn't need to be lectured." Phone estimate was for the water heater only even though they knew that other work had to be done. What's a few hundred dollars between friends? (That's sarcasm.)

I called WaterHeatersNJ over an emergency. Their installation failed inspection the first time, and this after I had another contractor tell them what was specifically wrong with what WaterHeatersNJ had installed the first time! These guys are very hard to work with. Plus, what should have been done in one visit, ended up taking three visits, and they charged me extra EACH time. I ended up paying about 30% over the originally agreed amount. Their technicians left water running on my wooden floors, and left the premises. Thank God, I went to check what was going on. Finally, I and my wife found their technicians to be incredibly rude, and downright insulting at times. Stephen himself called me Stupid after I complained that his technician had left nails scattered all over my stair case.
Please stay away from these guys. -
Cheap price for cheap install that wouldn't pass inspection. Good luck getting them to show up on time. 9a-12 window but they showed up at 1p. During the install when they create issues as a result of their install, they will hit you with extra costs to repair any gas or water leaks that they have caused. I called in another plumber to repair their damages and will seek payment in court. I should have known it would end badly with joint connections when the guy tried to force the pipe to go at a steep incline to accommodate the new taller heater. They will also try to tell you the gas and water leak was there before and somehow you never smelled it or noticed a pool of water. You get what you pay for, save yourself a headache and go with a real plumber that won't cut corners to "save you money". My mistake was going with the cheapest and assuming they wouldn't cut corners. Now I see why the other plumber was shocked at how they could do an install for so cheap. He knew what I didn't, that his job would be complete and this one would be crap. It's like a moving company that loads your house in the truck and then demands more money. No issues with several contractors to remodel a bathroom yet a simple hot water install requires small claims court. They also charge extra if you want to pay via credit card. #fail

Stephen takes care of his customers! My water heater started leaking, and due to holiday weekend, I I couldn't get it replaced until it was a work day again. Stephen drove out to me, a long distance, to make sure the we shut down the correct, very stuck on valve. The next workday, the new water heater was installed in two hours! Happy customer!

I can't speak for the quality of their work. But their driver for one of the work vans was driving like an absolute maniac over by North Plainfield route 22. Driver had no regard for the rules of driving and almost caused an accident. When I called their business to complain, the guy who answered said he knew who it was but there was nothing he could do, and that I should call the police. Basically, he didn't care. If that's how they are with dealing with problems, I would never hire them to work in my home or business.

When I had the water heater installed, the pipe didn’t quite fit. Instead of cutting it to fit, they jammed it in and it was at an angle, not vertical. About 6 months later, I was getting a house inspection to determine if the house was energy efficient. Upon inspecting the water heater, it was immediately shut down due to gas being emitted. Their jamming in of the pipe caused gas being emitted and wasn’t fixed until an inspector caught it. Also, they threw a lot of cement blocks into where the sump pump was located. The sump pump wasn’t broken, but could have been with their actions.

They came out to replace my Water heater and we notice the pipes into the old heater were reversed. I asked the installer about correcting the issue but he said if it was working we should just leave it the way it was. The installer said if it was a problem they would come back free of charge and fix the issue. Needless to say I start noticing that the hot water was getting cooler way to quick for a new heater. I come to find out it must be plumbed correctly or the cold water mixes with the hot water to quickly because the cold water needs to be down at the bottom of the heater not at the top. I called them and they said its now MY problem and they would charge me $350.00 to fix their backwards installation that they did say they would fix if it was a problem. They need to teach their installers how a water heater works and they should NEVER install the plumbing backwards!

The most unprofessional company with inexperienced workers. Ill equipped and haphazard workers. The owner rude and lacks good manners. Completely unprofessional like his workers. We were referred by Home Depot official staff because our Water heater was leaking and we needed to replace same. Home Depot is putting its reputation on line by recommending this company. very messy work. water all over in our basement. Did not have rags to handle the water. Took our hanging towels without asking and used as rags. Asked for more and also used our paper rolls. They did not have their own. ..Also damaged bathroom floor .scratched the floor by transporting the heater to bathroom to empty out the water and in doing so tarnished the tiles. Caused lot of stress and anxiety and uneasy feelings. The owner would not listen to customer side and would blow his own trumpet and say I don't care and accuse the customers that his workers were held/ransomed....very torturous experience in 2017 Rating: Thumbs down.........

DO NOT USE. We had our Rheem hot water heater installed from Steve in Sept 2021. 1 week after the installation, I noted inconsistent supply of warm or hot water which never happened with our prior heater. Reached out to him multiple times via text/phone and he was unhelpful, rude and unprofessional. He is good at taking your $ but can't seem to help if you are experiencing issues. First he blamed it on our towns hard water and recommended water softener. Then he said it was the mixing valve. We had another party come out to see if it was the mixing valve and turns out we didn't even have a mixing valve. I called him again recently to explain the ongoing issue and he kept cutting me off mid sentences to a point where I could barely get any words out. I explained my concerns about winter time and how my kids were getting a cold or luke warm bath at best. Even then, he continued to blame long baths which was never the case. During that call, he mentioned there was a thermostat recall and recommended we reach out to Rheem which we did. Rheem support sent us the part and we are awaiting a second opinion to help us fix the issue. He brushed us off with each call and gave us a lot of attitude. How would he know how much water is used ? He is a know it all who misguided us each time without the proper help. He has poor customer satisfaction skills and should not be in this business. Zero rating just like his ZERO listening
Steve,
I don't need to bicker with you. Nothing is wrong with the plumbing. You refused to help but kept insisting it is our mixing valve --- 2nd person only told us we don't have a mixing valve. -
Installing of new Water Heater not up to code.
I hired Waterheatersnj til install a new water heater, I was a little apprehensive because of a lot of recent bad reviews, but also a few good once.
I made sure that there wouldn’t be any misunderstanding about the pricing since a few customers have complained about that.
During the installation I asked them if an emergency power switch needed to be installed because I have heard that otherwise it wouldn’t pass an inspection since the circuit breakers are not visible from the heater. The technician told me that it was not necessary and that it would be installed up to code. I then found out the hard way that it wasn’t the truth and then I had to find an electrician to finish the job.
I called Steve the owner who just told me that they don’t do electrical only plumbing and I have to hire an electrician. As some other people have written, he is very nice over the phone before the job, but once you call and complain about something he just gets very defensive and not so nice anymore. I would be very careful with hiring them.
All this would have been fine if they where upfront and honest about everything before the job. But when you are not any kind of contractor yourself, you expect them to install everything up to code. -
just moved to the area and we knew we needed a new water as per the previous owner. just moving we were price conscious and wanted to make sure we were getting a good product. Also being a new home owner I had a lot of questions. Steve was very helpful on the phone going over everything. Quoted me $750 if we didn't need upgrades. I wasn't sure what we had and what we didn't but he made it easy. All I had to do was send him a pic. From that he was able to point out our venting was undersized and would not pass inspection. Being a little suspicious I did search around the net and did confirm this. My heater needed to be upgraded to 4" venting to pass. From there I saw several pictures and you can easily see the size diff. They came out and got the new heater installed for me and haven't had any problems yet. Just as an FYI we talked to PSEG and they were crazy more expensive than Water Heaters NJ and previous owner was telling us his plumber wanted $1,600 for the job. We were a few hundred cheaper than that at the end of the day.
