Reviews of local pros in Edison, New Jersey

Being a senior on a fixed income, I don't enjoy adding another monthly bill, but I felt the help with unexpected expenses would be worth the cost. I researched extensively & narrowed my search to five potential plans. Considering all the pros & cons among the top companies, I went with CHOICE for several reasons. Although contacted by text, phone & email from multiple agents in several companies , I found my CHOICE agent to be most considerate of my schedule; also prompt with answers & friendly professionalism. While I did receive lower cost offers, I felt what CHOICE represented was worth a few dollars more, even with my budget. I also liked their straightforward plan.

Once my repair man showed up, I requested a claim 5 days prior. I was under the impression someone would be here within 24-48 hours. I needed service for my furnace, the temperature had been cold and when the furnace would come on it was blowing cool air. This caused us to heat our home with the oven, electric fireplace, and a portable heater for the bedroom.
Once the technician had been notified, I received an email of the appointment, it was during a prior doctor appointment so I had contacted the technician who then stated he could come later this same day. Once the appointed time slot had passed I contacted him again and he stated he was very busy and he could come in the morning by 10:15 am. After we both agreed on the time (couldn’t be later than 11:30 am due to another appointment) he said it would probably take about 15 minutes so he would be here and gone in plenty of time. Again the schedule time had come and gone (second attempt) I contacted him, he was stuck on another job and rescheduled for 5-7 pm. My daughter had a band meeting I had to attend at 6pm. Seeing that this was day five and we still had no heat, I didn’t want to reschedule again so my neighbor came over to wait for him so that we could keep this appointment.
Once the band meeting was over and we were on our way home, I called my neighbor to see if he had been there and what was wrong she tells me he still hasn’t shown up.
I (being very frustrated because we have paid for this service for almost two years and this being the first time needing it at $52/month) called the technician again. He answered and was stuck on a job in Morgantown and would be maybe another hour asked if he would still be able to come that evening. Like I said it has been 5 days our home was freezing and I needed his service, so I told him yes, please still come we are freezing and I needed it fixed asap he agrees and we end the call. Time passes, and now it’s 10:40 pm here had just finished and was on his way called to say he was here, but gps took him to a different location so I sent him a “pin” so he could get here, he was now going to be here in “11 minutes”.
Thank God he did finally arrive! He started working immediately, very professional and friendly. Also very good at his job. Because of the nature of his work I understand getting tied up and having to be flexible. I am in no way disappointed with HIS service, he wouldn’t even leave until he noticed the heat was working and visibly seen the numbers rising! Like I said, he was very nice and professional an all around good guy. My issue is with this service through Choice Home Warranty. It took five days (six by the time he completed the job technically because he left after 12:30am) from start to finish for the work to be complete. I am disabled and unless I’m going to doctor appointments I generally stay home. So I needed (like I said previously) to heat my home with alternate heating and even with that and sitting on and sleeping on heating pads I I would wake up with my hands and feet so cold that I could have been dead and in a morgue for how cold my body temperature was. I also watch my young grandbabies on occasion so I would need to make sure they were bundled up when they were here too. At one point, choice home warranty had called me to SELL me their service and when I told him I am already a customer, he literally hung up on me when I tried to ask him about the technician and when he would be here because it was already after 10pm. I found that extremely rude!
I do not see myself continuing my service with Choice due to this situation, I will be looking for another company that will hopefully be able to take better care of their customers. -
5 homes...
ALL of them are covered by Chouce Home Warranty! in 5 years, we have had 4 claims spread over 5 homes.
2 of those claims were for major appliances.
Choice made the whole process seamless.
They also make the renewal process a breeze offering options to keep their policy prices competitive.
I sent my representative a text this morning to file a new claim, he immediately responded, calling me by my name.
He then suggested we have a quick call.
In less than 5 minutes, my claim was filed, the service fee was paid, and i was waiting on the tech to contact me!
Thank you ROB..
YOU are why i will always trust choice warranty with my home😊

The Customer Care Crew at Choice makes me feel as if they have a personal vendetta. How is it that they could take a hold on a service call, but cannot call me with a date for which they will fix the problem for not one but two contracts that I pay and paid for for many years now? It's only good to collect, but not to pay out?
Best isI try and fix minor things without a service call from them, even with a contract. Please make an apt to fix my system. -
My dryer stopped heating my clothes on Tuesday. I called Choice and they scheduled me for a week later. I couldn't wait an entire week so I called back and was rescheduled with another appliance repair company, M&K, and they sent a technician out that Friday. He was wonderful and my dryer was repaired. Very happy with the entire process

Technician didn't fix the problem (condensation around refrigerator door) and told told me that because of the age of the unit he wasn't sure that he could get the part (door gasket). He has provided no follow up info since that time. The app keeps giving me an error code. Three days should be enough to have this problem resolved. Can it be fixed or do I need to replace it?

Would not recommend. My AC unit wasn't working and I called to have them come out to fix it. They fixed it and two days later it wasn't working again. I called again to have them get another tech to come out. I had to wait several days to get an appointment. And when they set one, it was for between 3 - 8 pm. I had to miss a day of work to be able to be there for the tech to arrive. I tried to get the appt switched but they couldn't do it. I have a screenshot confirming the appt time. It's now almost 830 pm and I have not received a call or anything from them. I called back choice home warranty and they were less than helpful. They say they could only schedule a different appointment for a different time on a different date. They were not sympathetic at all and they did not value my time . The worst part is that my monthly payment is now do and they want me to update my credit card info. They are more worried about the money than customer service. I am looking for a better warranty company that values its customers and owns their mistakes or service issues.

100% the WRONG Choice! Stay far away. They send out sub-contracted techs to find reasons to deny the claim. We were told that by a Choice rep who said the Tech said the failure was not normal wear and tear, which it absolutely was. They did it to us for 2 claims. We were paid customers for 3 years. Used them for first time after 1.5 years on a washer that was leaking and certain functions not working. They denied the claim to replace a hose saying "a hose should not fail", covered the mother board but the techs they sent out never came back to finish the job. We ended up fixing it ourselves. Second claim was for a furnace failure which we had to hire our own tech for a second opinion, which Choice recommeneded cause they're tech said it was not normal wear and tear. Our tech said it was normal wear and tear, which it clearly was, Choice still did not care and would not approve the claim. Canceled with them right after that. Extremely dis-satisfied with Choice Home Warranty and wouldn't even send my enemies to use them, let alone friends.

Heat/AC went out. Called Choice Home Warranty on 10/3 and they had Sears Home Services come out 10/07. They suggested replacement. Choice home warranty only approved repair of my 30+ year old system. They ordered parts that came within a week. Next appointment was scheduled 10/21, which they changed to 10/27. Sears didn’t show up or notify me. Complained to Choice and was told they would email them. Reset appointment to 10/41. We’ll see how this plays out. So basically to this point I’ve gone without heat or AC for nearly a month. They’ve denied claims before as well on things that should have been covered. Very disappointed with Choice Home Warranty. What a waste of money.

I was pleasantly surprised at the prompt service I received from choice warranty. A qualified repair man from Maytag came to check out my washing machine. Since the machine is 16 years old, he thought it was unlikely that they would be able to get the necessary parts to repair it. After he filed a report with choice, they contacted me within a few days and told me they were going to give me a gift certificate for $650 to replace my machine. Rather than they replace it, they said it would be a better idea for me to choose what I wanted. . This is my second contract with Choice

It wasn’t very quick getting CHW to choose a vendor for my repair. Once they finally got one chosen, there was a scheduling conflict, and I had to get a new vendor. This again took a few days. The vendor was sub-par. They were not very professional, however he was very nice. He did quick work and cleaned up well. CHW decided to not cover the whole cost of an equal replacement, so I had to choose a cheaper, lower-quality item to replace my exhaust fan or pay the difference. The vendor damaged some of the drywall during the process, and I am expected to cover the repair. I’m not very satisfied at all and will probably not renew my contract when it comes time.

I have made 4 or 5 claims in the 18 months since I bought this house. Needed to replace a fridge, they only paid half what a new very basic fridge would cost. Took over 2 months to send tech out to look @fridge, too. Sent wrong repair guy out to fix dishwasher. Had to pay 2 service fees. Took about 2 months to get someone out to fix. 2 claims to fix furnace. Took several weeks each time to send someone out. 1st, they replaced the thermostat. 2nd claim, they denied the claim.

Finally the right company was assigned to my plumbing project and correctly diagnosed what was causing water to leak from my kitchen ceiling. KUDOS to Wright One Odd Jobs aka Marcus Wright. Unfortunately they were unable to complete the job due to problems with their portal. He was friendly, respectful and knowledgeable.

Choice found a very good company to repair my ailing heating system. It was repaired in great time. The $75 copay is much better than most agencies. They did a much better job than HSA by far. I am so glad that I changed to Choice!!!

I'm giving this review a 3 because when I filed the claim I received an email telling me my service repair was a certain date so I planned for that day and was home all day and no one showed up. I called in and was told they were running late so I waited still nothing. I then get a message from the repair service company telling me the exact date and time they would be here. That's the second time they do this to me. The first time I let it go. Next time I know better and will wait on a confirmation from the repair company themselves. Other than that this warranty company has great prices.

I could do 0 Star if I could s, this company was purchased at the moment of buying the house, the heater broke and they only gave me 800 out of 3500 and they ca only give me the 800 back only if I got the person who service it fix it. If the unit doesn’t get fixed not money back. I am not expecting it for free but American Home Warranty has cover a heating unit form my rental properties no problems I only end up paying 100 dollars for the deductible. The customer service is bad, the time for service the unit was terrible, 2 weeks for somebody get to my house and fix the unit. they end up telling me to call someone and they would pay for the repair, that is what I did.
I will not recommend these insurance and I will forward my review to bring awareness in m social media. -
The team was very professional. They showed up next day and got the job done quickly and everything looks great!
-
Very fast and professional. Took a lot of stress off of me, having them come in and help with the damages from our flood. I would highly recommend.

Crew showed up right on time and were very knowledgeable and courteous. Real experts in the field of water cleanup. I’d use them again and definitely recommend Service Master.

I can’t say enough great things about the customer service ServiceMaster Restoration by Complete provided me and my wife when we experienced a tragic plumbing incident at our brand new home about 24 hours after moving in.
Bill and his crew responded in the middle of the night and arrived within hours of my call to start the clean up and repairs of the water damage we suffered.
They were extremely knowledable and most importantly provided trust worthy advice, which as new home owners was critical during our emergency since we found other companies trying to take advantage of us.
If you are in need of their services, honestly look no further because ServiceMaster Restoration by Complete is the absolute best and in a time of loss and damage, it is comforting to know you can trust them!
We trust Bill, his crew and they entire company so much that we still reach out to him with questions and have referred them to all our friends and family. -
Le pire qu'il soit. Plus de probèmes "après" la visite d'un "plumber".
A éviter à tout prix !
