Last week, my husband and I ordered 10 yards of screened topsoil from Denny Wiggers. We did not pay for labor because my husband would be spreading the soil himself. Upon placing the soil around our yard, he realized this was unscreened topsoil. In addition to buckets of rocks collected, there were thousands of shards of glass and even a pair of old scissors in this soil that my husband raked up. I will attach photos to this post for review. Upon noticing we did not receive what we paid for and now had a huge hazard on our hands, we notified Mr. Wiggers. No one would want this in their yard, but we have young children and a dog who we want to be able to run in the yard without fear of stepping on glass or scissors or rocks, so we were particularly perturbed by this discovery. While Mr. Wiggers was very responsive to calls and texts about this issue (as he should be, as a business owner…), his overall response was one of indifference. “What do you want me to do about it?” — so he sent some workers to spread the rest of the 10 yards of soil in our yard and rake it for glass and rocks. When they left, my husband raked the yard again to double check, and collected more glass and rocks. This isn’t to say the workers didn’t try their best — however, their best was simply not good enough. We are talking about the safety of my children and preventing them from stepping on GLASS and RUSTY SCISSORS. And, again, the fact is that we paid for SCREENED topsoil, which we did not receive. After hearing from us again, Mr. Wiggers AGAIN asked what we wanted him to do about this issue. As a business owner who created a problem for us that we didn’t have before, you would think he would be the one offering solutions to this issue. Being responsive to customers is the bare minimum, yet he kept reminding us that he is not sure what else we wanted him to do about the issue and he’s been very responsive to calls and texts, as if that makes the situation any better. But at the end of the day, we are the ones out in the yard making sure the soil is raked through hundreds of times for glass and rocks and metal that shouldn’t have been there in the first place because we paid for SCREENED topsoil. The final communication we had with Mr. Wiggers was when we agreed upon delivery of 5 more yards of soil — screened, as it should have been from the start. He had it delivered yesterday, and the delivery man sarcastically told my husband to “have fun” when he dropped it off. Yes, my husband will have fun spreading this clean soil in our yard and raking it to be sure our children don’t get hurt. At the end of the day, we paid for 10 yards of screened topsoil — which we didn’t receive, because it was unscreened — which came to a total of $466.75 charged to my credit card. Yes, he delivered 5 yards of clean soil for “free” after the fact, but there is something to be said about Mr. Wiggers’s arrogant and indifferent business approach. We did not get what we paid for. We did not pay for labor, but he made it seem as though he did us a favor by sending men to spread the rest of the soil. No, thats not a favor because they still left behind glass and rocks. As a business owner, the bare minimum is to be responsive to customers and to remedy any issues. I was honestly shocked to see my credit card was charged for the full amount after all of this. If you are thinking about hiring this company, just know you will be working with a man who is apathetic to the customer and seems to only care about the money, even though he caused a potential safety hazard for our family. In the words of his secretary Cheryl who I spoke to on the phone on one occasion to explain my frustration…”shit happens” (great business attitude and very helpful, thanks…) And I understand that. However, if you are the REASON that “shit” happened, then you should be bending over backwards to fix it. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
I have attached a few photos below of only SOME of the glass and rocks and debris that were raked up from our yard. -
Denny Wiggers is amazing! I ordered a wreath for the front of our office and what we received was huge and beautiful! His crew hung up it up very fast and securely too. Here we are 2 months after Christmas and the wreath is still amazing. You won’t go wrong with Denny.

I use Denny wiggers for my firewood usually and they are great for that. This year I used them for mulch delivery. I love that they have a website that you can easily order what you need and have it delivered. They were so great with the pricing and product itself. Also when they came to drop it off the driver gave me flowers to apologize for being a bit late, which it didn’t bother me at all. They came on the day they said they would and that is what matters - even if they hadn’t I’m sure they would have called to reschedule which is no big deal. I would gladly recommended them to anyone I know. Keep up the great work and keep being amazing!!!

Terrible experience with residential gravel delivery. Was scheduled for Monday evening. Did not come Monday. Was then confirmed for Tuesday morning. Never showed up and never called. I finally had to go there Wednesday and request the delivery in person. Delivery was then expected within an hour and did not come for several hours. When it finally arrived, it was delivered in a mess and well off the area I had designated

Update: Denny came to my house and tested the unsplit faces of wood to try to tell my the wood wasn’t wet. None of this wood burns, and after splitting all test at least 28%.
Not gunna lie, my first experience was great. I wrote a nice review about it even though they kept delaying my firewood delivery. After my first delivery I figured the quality of the wood was worth the premium price. I just ordered my final cord for the winter. I think common knowledge is don’t buy late in the season, but if their website is accurate, the wood is in a climate controlled greenhouse - there shouldn’t be wet wood. The wood I just received is so wet it will barely burn. Consistently seeing readings of well over 30% moisture. I’m actually mad about this. I paid double the market rate for a cord and much of it isn’t even seasoned. I would have been better off paying an extra premium and getting kiln dried. Shame. -
Ordered a half cord of hardwood fire wood. Two industrious and pleasant gentlemen delivered gorgeous seasoned wood. Stacked it beautifully. Couldn't be happier with this purchase and service. Highly recommend them.

I Have been using Denny and his team for 10plus years and they have Always been on time, courteous, and professional
They recently sodded some of my front yard. But as the Summer weather has been brutal the sod started to die. I reached out to Denny who sent his Crew back to replace the needed sod at no cost to me !
If you are looking for any Gardening or Landscape services , I highly recommend Denny Wigger ! …..and you will to! -
Public Warning – Firewood Does Not Meet Advertised 12% Moisture Claim
On January 23, 2026, I paid $1,000 for two cords of “premium seasoned firewood” from Denny Wiggers Garden Center. The company’s website explicitly states the wood is “seasoned in ventilated greenhouses for an ideal moisture content below 12%.” A timestamped screenshot of that claim is attached.
Shortly after delivery, the wood failed to ignite properly and produced excessive smoke. I purchased a calibrated pin-type moisture meter and tested multiple randomly selected logs using accepted industry protocol: each piece was freshly split and measured at the internal grain. Multiple readings exceeded 24% moisture — double the advertised specification.
When Mr. Wiggers arrived at my residence, he attempted to test only the exterior surface. He refused giving me refund or replacement the bad wood on camera.
I got scammed by these guys⚠️. Call if this happened to you - NJ Division of Consumer Affairs -
Denny delivered topsoil and sod to my Harlem brownstone for my DIY backyard makeover, and I am THRILLED! His prices are unbeatable, and the soil and sod were top-notch. He followed up with me and provided customer service at a level that you just don't find anywhere these days. I couldn't be happier. Thank you Denny!

Denny’s team helped our project multiple times and worked with weather and scheduling pivots with great dedication. Highly recommend this team of wonderful people! We are thrilled with our healthy sod.

They may know gardens, but when it comes to firewood, they either don't know what they're doing or are just hoping the clientele doesn't have any firewood experience.
I ordered a cord of hardwood delivered a few weeks ago. Although the delivery was made promptly (I would also try to get rid of that stuff promptly and for free). It's mostly sopping wet. The mixture included many pieces which are debatably considered hardwood. Pieces ranging in lengths between 10-24 inches and very messy splits. No redeeming qualities. Very disappointed.
*Your workers called you from my location after l tested a random pieces from the pile and it showed a moisture content of 27%. All you offered was a $50 discount.
My number was never provided. I definitely didn't get any phone calls from you. -
Craig G from C&R landscaping built an awesome wall to retain the soil from my property to my neighbors. He did it with no machines and it was all done with precision and his own 2 hands. He had some help of course but you wouldn’t even know it was being done. I since sold the house but it was a beautiful site to come home each day and stare at that magnificent retaining wall. I had numerous neighbors walk by and just stare of the beauty and rare wall anyone had on their property, even in that small little neighborhood. Thank you Craig and to your team for that.
Sincerely
Your old neighbor -
What a guy - Craig is as nice as they come and is a true expert when it comes to vision and recommendations. Don't hesitate to use this company for landscape design!

Hired these guys to build out my backyard with a new patio and putting green as you see in the pictures. They did great work and my family was incredibly pleased with the results and the way they worked. We have hired them to be our weekly landscapers for lawn cuts, etc and have been very happy with the service. Highly recommend...
