Constraction reviews in Summit, New Jersey

Chris Ewing has been one of the most reliable contractors I have ever had to work with. He is very punctual, honest, straightforward, and always gives you a straight answer. No run around the bush nonsense.

Chris & his team at CKG are great to work with! They are professional & did a great job. Honest & did a great job! Would definitely use again & recommend highly.

CKG "shampooed" our asphalt roof shingles which were discolored from lichen and in one area, growing moss. The team was professional and did a great job. They pointed out some loose/missing shingles prior to cleaning and replaced them the same day. Very happy!

Thank you CKG for quickly fixing a sudden dangerous problem that hit our house. After a recent snowstorm a heavy shutter on our second floor was hanging away from the house dangerously, bolted in only at the bottom. The shutter was right on the edge of the house near the driveway, so it could have possibly fallen on a car while pulling in our out or even a person walking in our out of the garage. Knowing the situation was possibly dangerous CKG fixed the issue within an hour of contacting them. They sealed the bolt in with silicone and the house looks great. This was a big relief as the last thing I wanted was some kid to get knocked. Great job!

Chris and his team are top notch. They go above and beyond their competition and they found a major problem in our roof that another contractor couldn't fix after many attempts, The company cares about their customers and their employees. I couldn't recommend CKG Contractors more.

CKG is great all-around. Chris and Mark were very responsive – to my initial request and throughout the project – much more so than other contractors with whom I’ve worked. They took the time to discuss my project and how we could accomplish it with the right design, materials, etc. Then they executed in a timely manner at a very reasonable cost. And the workmanship was fantastic to boot. This was my second project with CKG, and I’m sure there will be more. Highly recommend!

We had some concerns about our attic, roof, and gutters. Chris came by and evaluated our house and reassured us that things looked ok and ultimately cleaned and installed very effective gutter guards for our house. They did the entire job in 1-2 days which was quite the feat because we literally had weeds and small trees growing out of our blocked gutters. We have trees that shed pine needles and not even those can penetrate the gutter guards. I would recommend CKG contractors to all family and friends.

Great experience with Dave. Did everything extremely well and has great attention to detail. Would highly recommend and definitely hire again.

Amazing experience. The only handyman that actually called me back in a timely manner . Professional, organized and meticulous . Plus very friendly which is a big plus :) . Highly recommend .

David did a great job on our new shower base

Dave from Modern Home Improvements did an excellent job pressure washing my home and cleaning our gutters - highly recommend!

Dave at Modern home improvements Corp did an amazing job remodeling our master bathroom!!!!!! We highly recommend Dave and his crew!!!

This company did not show up to the appointment made several weeks in advance because I wasn’t able to confirm the appointment the day prior. Stated they had other jobs so unless the downpayment sent two days prior was received they would not come to the appointment. Shouldn’t they make clear at the time the appointment was made that there was a deposit required for them to show up?

I just had my deck washed and repaired. It looks so much better! I also had a screen door replaced. I appreciate the great work and service. I would use this company again and recommend them!

Dave is professional and caring - excellent communication, considerate of our home and schedules, and careful to get it done right. He is like a trusted neighbor, will definitely call him again.

Dave did a great job replacing the backsplash in our kitchen. He is very thorough and had great tips for us as new homeowners.

IF YOU NEED A CONTRACTOR IN THE MORRISTOWN AREA, HIRE DAVE AND MODERN HOME IMPROVEMENTS!!!

Last August, I was moving apartments and was looking for a contractor to come touch up the wear and tear I had put my apartment through over the past year. There were various holes I had drilled into the walls to hang picture frames, etc, and i have a pet that had chewed the trip on my windowsill, and baseboard throughout my apartment. Being fresh out of college and new to the workforce, I was looking for someone to come by and fix it for cheap so that I could get my security deposit back.

Dave came by, took one look at the various needs and refused to do the work because he didn't want to charge me for his time. Instead, free of charge, Dave supplied me with the materials and showed me how to fix the damages myself. He went out of his way to make sure I had the materials to do the job and even made himself available over the phone to assist me with any questions that I had as I went about the repair process. Dave even checked back in on me a few days later to make sure that I was all set. All free of charge.

I have never met a more honest, kindhearted businessman who truly wants to help his clients. 10/10 would recommend.

It was really awesome services provided by Dave through modern home improvements he has installed curtains for me also fixed my drain stopper in my bathtub for free after his hours are completed on time he came on time in an emergency snowy weather thank you for the services Dave

I was the summit NJ bathroom renovation. I had my floor tiles replaced and my wall tiles replaced. The project took weeks longer than expected. Dave showed up to the project mid day to complete. He left all of his materials throughout the house. The original baseboards were replaced without option to replace them and were put on with damage from its original form. He blurred it out on the pictures. Tile was cut inappropriately at the entrance of the bathroom. This project took over a month to complete and then rushed at the end. Coffee table (was not part of the project) was damaged because paint was spilled. As the owner, I had to confront Dave about this spill and he was aware of the spill and never reported it to myself. Dave blamed me (I moved out for the project). Integrity is key when trusting someone to enter and exit your home, and I do not trust the honesty of modern home improvement. As a young homeowner, I felt bullied and manipulated by Dave and his wife (business partner), Julia. I was told countless times that they were losing money on the bathroom. It was completely unprofessional. As a business owner, I would never conduct business with this poor form. I will be using a new contractor to complete this project.

Dave remodeled master bathroom and kids bathroom. First of all, I would say the workman ship with the tiles is really great. For a full remodeling project, he was very meticulous with work and end result for the master bath is really great. He has some great ideas, he also listens to your ideas and suggestions. The other great thing is you can control the budget by ordering from Amazon or any other sites. In fact he suggested us to go with these sites to save money. He likes to help with any minor stuff..which usually other contractors don’t do. He worked over some weekends to finish the job. Apart from some time management, he is best contractor to hire.. I would definitely recommend.

David from modern home improvement transformed our dark and dusty unfinished basement into a beautiful bright and open space that our family now loves to spend time in. He also turned our old, unused basement bathroom into the most beautiful bathroom in the house! Given the old age of our house, this project was full of oddities and challenges, and almost every part of it needed to be customized. David delivered with such creative and thoughtful work to adapt to these challenges and make everything blend together in a tasteful way. Given the customized nature of the project David’s craftsmanship and attention to detail was instrumental to making it a success. We truly appreciate his creativity and ability to help us find the best solutions to all these challenges, all while being mindful of our budget.
