Avoid this company. It’s $49.95 for them to come out $49.95 to assess and then they head the nerve to try to add the GAS to get there on my bill. If I didn’t notice the math was off they would have charged me for the gas in their car. Look elsewhere if you don’t want additional frustration and fees.

The staff and personnel there are professional and very considerant of your wants and needs. Front staff are very friendly and helpful.

I have used them several times. They will not honor their previous work and the attitude on the phone is disappointing.

Been looking for a good plumber in my area to cure my one-pipe steam heat system of its banging. Ken did a great job for me and I couldn't be happier. Prices were fair and the work was done clean. No mess!

Big Apple has helped us out a number of times, and I can only say that they are a wonderful company. They respond quickly and their charges are always reasonable. It is a pleasure to work with people with so much integrity and professionalism.

We’ve used Big Apple for over 33 years for small to large projects, and we’re sold on them when the founder of the company was able to spot the source of a problem in less than one minute. Haven’t had that issue since.

Now the son has taken over, and he’s as god as his dad. This is that rare honest, reliable and professional company we should all be able to deal with. And add to that, they’re super friendly.

Amazing job. The Kens installed a top of line tankless ALTAC system in our home and the installation was top notch. The price was fair and the quality of their work exceeded my expectations.

They always diagnose the issue correctly right away, and do a great job with the work. They work with integrity and skill, and they are wonderful people. Everyone who has ever come to do work at our house has been awesome, and so is Carol who answers the phones. I reached out to Big Apple Plumbing Company because my thermostat seemed not to be connecting with the boiler. The thermostat would turn the heat on for a little while and then would not go back on once it was turned off. When they couldn't figure out what the issue was they told me to contact them when the issue happens again since at that moment it was working. I had paid them $200 just for them to come and tell me that nothing was wrong. After wasting my time and money on their visit, I had to call another company to finally fix the issue. I had called them because I needed a second opinion since I did not believe they couldn’t figure it out. The other company was able to find the diagnosis, which was that the thermostat needed to be changed out. The thermostat leaked battery acid on the back of it, and was intermittently not turning on the end switch on the zone valve head which activates the boiler to turn on. For the second company I had to pay $300.

I had reached out to Big Apple asking for a refund since again they were not able to assist me with the problem and they had told me no because I did not contact them when the issue had happened again with the thermostat. The other company was able to find it right away without the issue happening.

I would not recommend Big Apple Plumbing company if you want a proper diagnosis and solution.

I highly recommend Big Apple plumbing. We had our gas shut off in winter and it was rough. I called them in the evening and they had an awesome team over very early to fix the issue. The person who answers the phone is lovely and the team was wonderful. Ken took the time to explain everything to me. they were so efficient that I had my gas turned back on the same day am sitting at home nice and toasty, thanks to them.

Extremely disappointed with my experience with Big Apple Plumbing, in terms of cost. The Tech was fine, but the price for our fix was outrageous. We needed a plumber right a few days after Christmas due to our gas pipe leaking. The Tech evaluated and gave us options on all the things they claimed needed to be fixed, this was after a $125 show up fee that was to be paid regardless. We ended up just asking for the gas pipe to be re-hooked to our dryer and add a shut off valve, the work took 30 min and they charged $660. We were already paying $125 for the show up fee and really needed the dryer working as we had visitors coming in to stay with us. After the fact, I've now been advised this is a frequent issue customers have with this company, they charge extremely high costs. My recommendation would be to call around unless you're fine paying a premium. Service/Tech was fine, but very inflated cost for 30 min job.

I've been using their services for several years now, primarily for servicing but recently when I needed a new water heater, and they never disappoint. The team is always professional, friendly, and courteous. What I really appreciate is how fair their pricing seems, and they always take the time to ensure everything is done right.

The workers are not only skilled but also thoughtful—they always clean up thoroughly after finishing the job, which means a lot. It’s so nice to find a company that’s reliable and consistent. If you’re looking for a great plumbing service, I’d definitely recommend giving Big Apple Plumbing a call!

I had a drainage pipe underneath my basement that collapsed!
Big Apple had to take the tile off my basement floor, dig a trench under the floor, take out the collapsed pipe and then replace the collapsed pipe with a new one! The pipe also traversed two rooms! Ken Cavaliere and his assistants did a brilliant job.
I was very pleased when the work was completed.
Bravo!

It has been our great good fortune to have discovered the professionals Ken Jr and his father at the Queens-based three generation family owned and operated Big Apple Plumbing & Heating. We have relied on their years of expertise ever since moving into Ridgewood over a decade ago. From annual boiler inspection and heating issues (in an old house) to basement flooding, new kitchen and bathroom fixtures and so on - we have counted on them to handle the problems in a professional and timely manner. They are simply the most well-informed, fair and personable allies one could ever imagine having as home owners.

John was exceptionally professional and truly cared about doing the right thing. His work was flawless and he’s been so easy to work with.

Our last contractor left an absolute mess of things, and John came in and restored what was 6 months of tough living without a kitchen.

Would hands down recommend John for any plumbing jobs in the future!
