Tree reviews in Rochester, New York
-
Had lawn treated yesterday. Bruno always does a great job. Very thorough, spends a good amount of time and does not rush through.
-
I was disappointed that I was not informed when the job would be done. I had said I wanted to be present when the job was done because I wanted to give some guidance as to what I wanted done. Since I was not present, there was too much trimming done, including an area that I had stated I did not want trimmed at all, and I was unhappy with the end result.

I would give six stars if I could. The guys showed up and knew what they had to do regarding trimming one of my trees. They also made additional suggestions for the removal of branches I missed in my assessment of what should be taken out. I agreed, and after everything was done the tree looked great. It was symmetrical and I had no more concerns about the larger limbs dropping on people or cars. They ended up by cleaning the lawn around the tree, as well as my driveway. I couldn't be happier with the total job. Money well spent!

The company has the RGE contract for tree trimming around power lines. They completely ruined my maple tree. totally gutted it, The tree will never be the same to the point I will need to have it removed. Based on the rest of the reviews I am surprised to see the current rating. They would get zero stars if I could go that low on the rating.. I would never hire this scab outfit., Save your self a headache and please go else where for tree and Landscaping services.

The entire process was very quick and seamless. The staff was professional, punctual, friendly, and informative. The finished landscape came out even better than I visualize. Very impressed with this company. Would highly recommend.

Birchcrest Tree & Landscape performed a large tree removal job on my next-door neighbor's property on 12/05 and 12/06/2023. Birchcrest did not notify me of the job, did not tell me that they'd be blocking my driveway, and did not tell me that my electric and Spectrum cable internet would be disconnected. I came home from work on 12/05 at 2:20 PM to my driveway blocked, no power and no internet. I had to ask two of the gentleman to move their truck, so I could get into my driveway. My pets were sitting in a cold, 60 degree house and my sump pump was filling up due to no power. After making phone calls to Birchcrest and RG&E, my power was finally restored at 4:20 PM. My Spectrum internet was not restored that day. I called Birchcrest on 12/05, 12/06, 12/07, and 12/08 to request they contact Spectrum to have my internet reconnected. Each time, I got the run around, along with "let us contact the supervisor and call you back". The only person who actually cared and tried to help was Amy - thank you Amy. Due to the negligence of Birchcrest, I had to contact Spectrum on my own to schedule an appointment with them for 12/08 to have my cable internet reconnected. I should not have had to spend my time doing the job of your staff member(s) who contact the electric and cable companies to coordinate the electric and internet line requests.
I will never do business with Birchcrest and will never recommend them to anyone looking for tree and yard work. I'm so disappointed with how the process was handled - the customer service is terribly poor. Birchcrest, if you care about your clientele, please make an effort to properly communicate with property owners, utility companies, internet providers, etc. in the future. Showing that you care goes miles. Thank you. -
We highly recommend Birchcrest Tree and Landscape. We had a few large trees in our backyard that were overgrown and becoming a hazard.
We received a very fair estimate from Jared who recommended the best way to clean up the trees and worked within our budget.
The tree crew were very friendly, careful working around the yard and were very skilled and efficient.
Birchcrest did an excellent job at a very good price and we are very happy with the results! -
Great job trimming our Loctus tree! Crew was super friendly and professional. Cleaned. everything up afterwards. Will continue with Birchcrest in the future.

I'm writing this on behalf of my 82 year old mom that lives alone in Rochester. I live in Colorado. We speak every week and over the past few weeks she has raved about your service. Yes, you did great work and accomplished what was hired for but the bigger win for her was that you treated her like a person, not just a customer. She often feels she gets dismissed due to her age. You guys listened, troubleshot, and problem solved WITH her. She views her property as an extension of herself and so when both are treated well, she feels valued. Thanks for helping her.

The two Birchcrest employees were timely, polite and explained what they were going to do. They did an excellent job, they are our new tree company and we highly recommend them.

The gentlemen arrived exactly on time and did an exceptional job in trimming three trees in our yard. The trees look wonderful, and when the men left, there was no sign that they had been here - the yard was cleaner than when they arrived! THANK YOU!!!!!

irchcrest was here Tuesday 10/14 to clear lines for Spectrum and left huge divots in my yard from their boom truck. I took pictures of the divots so I have them time stamped. When I called today to see if they were going to fill them in, I was told they didn't do work for Spectrum. When I insisted it was their truck, she came back and said yes it was them but the ruts were caused by the Spectrum truck today. i have the time stamped pictures from Tuesday!!! I was here today and watching Spectrum who never even pulled into the driveway!! Their foreman denied leaving the ruts, claimed he was here today and saw Spectrums truck. Probably laying the blame on Spectrum so he wouldn't get in trouble. She was so rude - avoid them at all costs.

Birch crest was dependable, easy to book they arrived on time. Took care of everything we agreed on and left the property in good order with no mess.

We worked with Birchcrest for over four months to create the perfect berm for our property and the results are beyond our expectations! From the start, Drew and Brenda were incredibly helpful, patient and knowledgeable, guiding us through every step of the process with great insight and care. Their attention to detail and creative suggestions made all the difference!!!
When it came time for installation, the crew executed the plan flawlessly. The workmanship was top-notch and everything was done with such precision and professionalism. We’re so grateful for the time and effort they put into this project. Highly recommend to anyone looking for expert landscaping with a personal touch! -

We signed the contract+paid the deposit on April 11th. They said 6-8 weeks for our project. They took a 30% deposit when we signed our contract and didn’t show up or call with a single update until nearly 12 weeks later - and only AFTER numerous calls, emails, and texts and begging to have our project completed.
They did finally show up to rock hound, grade, top soil, and hydro seed our yard. However, we have a huge puddle in the middle of our freshly graded yard. I’ve reached out 3 times and keep being dismissed that this is “normal”. Also, most of our dirt is gravel and big rocks. I feel like they cheaped out on the amount of top soil needed. Our contract said 2-3” of top soil to the entire area from the pool concrete out.
Trying to give it a chance to fill in. They said they’ll come back after 5-6 weeks to reseed. I guess we’ll see how it turns out on a few weeks.

When we signed the contract, we were told they were scheduling into “mid to end of May” then I followed up mid June, they said that they were running 3 weeks behind and it should be by the end of June…we’re into July and still nothing. No one communicates and I only get a response when I nag the sales person that put together our contract.
Not to mention, we had someone here in February for a quote and they never got back to us, so I had to call to have them out again in April. I guess that should have been our first sign. The sad part is that they came so highly recommended by my in-laws and their neighbors who had wonderful experiences with them in the past.
Now, our yard is over run with weeds and the neighbors are complaining and keep asking when we’ll have our yard done. I will gladly update this review if they ever show up to do our project. -
They came out and did work along the power lines. They left large limbs in my yard and broke my fence. If they cut the limbs up to manageable pieces I would not have minded, but they left 20+ foot long limbs in my yard. When I called customer service to see when they would be out to clean it up they told me it was my responsibility... Now I have to go to the hardware store to buy a chain saw to clean up after them, and lumber to fix the broken fence.
**Update: The day after writing my review Birchcrest did reach out to me and let me know they would be cleaning up the mess they left in my back yard, but continued to reiterate that they usually do not do that and that it is the responsibility of the home owner. At the end of my conversation with them they requested that I updated my review, which leads me to ask the question, Would they have done anything if not for my review?
That being said they came out a day or two later and cleaned up the 2 large branches they left behind. The crew was a little snippy with my wife and father in law when they came out to clean it up, but that may have been because of all the overtime they were forced to work due to the wind storm.
The fence is still broken and there is a large 5 foot by one foot log balancing in the tree above the fence that I mentioned to them on the phone the first time but apparently that isn't there problem because it is touching the fiber optic and cable lines not the power lines. I just have to make sure not to let me son play in that part of the yard till I can get someone else out here to finish the job. -
I have used Birch Crest on numerous occasions and have always been satisfied with the work. I recommend them to everyone. If you don't get a quote from them, you are missing out.

The crew brought a bucket truck but realized it would be smarter to climb the tree and trim it. They worked safely and efficiently executing a well thought out plan. I hired Birchcrest because of their experience working in city neighborhoods. They didn’t disappoint. I’ll hire them again.

We had a pretty big tree limb come down on 2 buildings on our property. Within 14 hours, after talking to Jared and Hannah an exceptional crew, Josh, Anthony, Dan and 1 other (sorry we forgot his name) came to our house. Within 2 hours, everything was done and cleaned up. Absolutely awesome job. This is our second time calling on Birchcrest tree and landscape, and definitely not our last. Thank you everyone.

Birchcrest trimmed a silver maple on our rear neighbor's property under an RGE contract. It was amazing to watch the guys climb that tree and skillfully drop large limbs that needed to be removed for proper power line clearances. Many of the branches came down onto our property.
I was happy that they relocated my compost drums and several garbage cans that held mulch and topsoil, so they were not directly under the area where they dropped branches.
What I was severely unhappy about was that the crew left before returning the things they moved and did not clean up the branches they dropped, or left across my lawn.
I called them [right after I realized they had left] and nicely told them I expected them to return to move things back to where they were because they were too heavy for me to do it myself, but told them there was not urgency.
Two weeks later, nobody has shown up.
I picked up the branches and took them to the road this week because I knew the town was going to pick up lawn debris for a final time for the year.
I am not a crabby old guy who is complaining about a trail of twigs that were left behind. I had multiple branches that I picked up that were taller than my 6 feet height. I estimate that the wood that was left behind was 45-50 pounds.
I have hired several tree people over the years, and nobody has ever left such a mess after they left. In fact, I have complimented them for leaving my property in better shape than it was before they did their work. I cannot say the same for Birchcrest.
I will NEVER consider hiring Birchcrest to do any work for me. I suggest that you do the same.
Caveat emptor! -
The professional tree service completed a comprehensive job, expertly removing trees, stumps, and performing grinding services with exceptional skill. However, a notable issue arose regarding the grinding materials left behind in the excavated holes. The service did not clearly communicate that the client would be responsible for removing the remaining debris, which created confusion and potential dissatisfaction with the overall service experience.
