We have used Tiny Tom for approx 7-8 yrs. We had a couple of chimney fires over those years and Tiny Tom determined it to be poor construction on the chimney. They put in a triple wall pipe and we have been fire-free for past couple of years. In the past , the company has replaced the chimney cap and done repair work to the inside of the firebox, as well as our annual cleanings. The workmen/workwoman have always been very polite, respectful, and courteous. They are very good at cleaning up......never any reason to follow behind them. I highly recommend their services!!

Booked our repair a month in advance. Rescheduled minutes before our time for the following week. No show on next two appointments. Called and they pushed my repair out for another 4 weeks. Didn’t make that appointment and when I called to ask if they were going to come out, I got a rude response that my repair isn’t urgent and they would come in the spring when they find time. It’s now been 6+ months and nothing.

I tried using this company to repair my Chimney. They sent a service man and inspected the work and provided me with an estimate. Then i asked them for additional work to be done on the same chimney and they sent another serviceman to inspect the work and they provided me with an estimate. I called them to confirm the work and ask them to start the repair. They rudely informed me that they do not want to do the work anymore and they did not give me a reason for their refusal to do the job. This is the worst experience i ever had with a contractor. i will never do work with this company anymore.

John was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He didn't try to sell us something we didn't need. He was on time, did a thorough job, and left us feeling safe about our daughter using her fireplace in her newly bought house. I would reccomend John and Tiny Tom to everyone.

We had a great experience! Leo did a super great job, we had to reschedule a little but they were very flexible. In the end, the job was done super well and fairly quickly!

Do not consider hiring Tiny Tom whatsoever. They cancel untimely and arrive late, not valuing special arrangements the customer makes for appointments. Because of the unpredictableness, I put the kibosh on the entire job, however the contractor still arrived pulling an implorable, intimidating stakeout.

FIVE MINUTES PRIOR to my first appointment for an estimate to have potential work done on a house I was about to purchase, the contractor called to say he was running an hour and a half behind and had to reschedule. The weather was bad but a five minute notification when knowing you’re an hour and ½ behind is inconsiderate! The realtor and I had already arrived. When the contractor and I did meet, I was charged $147 for an estimate and no work was done which was not the arrangement provided on the phone.

Eventually, I scheduled to have the estimated work done for 12/26. The contractor contacted me 15 minutes AFTER the appointment to reschedule. He said that the weather in two days would be better. The weather that day was very nice for a December day. No wind, no rain, not too cold. Come 12/28, the contractor called 20 minutes AFTER the scheduled time to say he was on his way. I called the owner to cancel the job entirely and explained the episodes of lateness/cancellations. He told a different story indicating that on the 26th the guys had fallen behind and had to complete other work. Well...that’s not what the contractor said AND if that were the case, I should have been notified prior to 20 minutes AFTER that appointment such as when they left that job on the 23rd or 24th. I doubt they worked on Christmas.

Even though I cancelled this job completely...Doug and his crew still showed up AROUND 10, an hour later. They pretty much did a stakeout. They parked in the street, blocking my driveway where my car was clearly parked...I couldn’t leave, they rang the doorbell a couple times, called me. They lingered around my property for about 45 min. to an hour outside smoking. They should never have arrived; the entire job had been cancelled.

    KEY POINTS & LESSONS LEARNED:
    (1) If an inspection seems overly negative, a quote too high or something seems “off”, don’t be afraid to spend a little extra for another opinion. The peace of mind alone is worth it, and you might save yourself a lot of time & money.
    (2) Tiny Tom’s is not tiny—it’s a bigger operation with several different teams of guys—you may never meet the owner. Your mileage may vary depending on which team you get. Likely the reason for 5 and 1 star reviews on here. If you want a more consistent experience, you might consider going with a highly rated, smaller company where you work directly with the owner/operator.

    MY EXPERIENCE:
Tiny Tom was subcontracted by my home inspection company to inspect the fireplace during my home buying process. Tiny Tom’s team mis-identified my fireplace condition, claiming the wall covering material around it was combustible shiplap. Actually it was “look like” shiplap made from sheet rock—and it was fine to use. Got a second opinion, but not without causing a lot of confusion in the home buying process. Most confusing of all was the home seller had used Tiny Tom’s in the past when doing remodel work and had seemingly confirmed with them there was no concern—imagine their confusion when I raised the concern!

Later, I chanced to use Tiny Tom’s again for a quote after they reinspected and agreed with the “other guy” that they had made a mistake.
(Btw, not even an apology or partial refund offered on the inspection cost)

Unfortunately, their quote for the other repairs I needed was quite high (even after offering to do something on the side without “telling the boss” to save me some money…when I still balked, they then had to talk to the boss to see if they could cut me a further deal—it all felt very tongue-in-cheek)

In the end, I saved at least 50% by bringing in the “other guy” again.
PS “the other guy” is a reputable company doing business across the Michigan line since the 60’s—so no, I wasn’t skimping out.

I first called one of the bigger chimney sweeps in the area, and the cost for a simple cleaning about knocked me over. So I called Tiny Tom's - the cost was much more reasonable, and they got to me within a week (not a month). Their crew was very careful about leaving the scene clean (laid down a blanket, shop vac'd everything, etc). I noticed even one of the guys walk over to the field next to my house to clean out the stove pipe instead of leaving the debris in my yard.

After they were done, they patiently took a few minutes to answer some of my questions, since I've never owned a wood burning stove before.

Highly satisfied, and i'll be calling again in 2020 for my next cleaning!

Update 2020: had them come back out again and was very happy again. The service pro wore a mask and was very respectful. Even remembered coming out here the previous year. Great company!

When I first contacted Tiny Tom's about repairing my chimney everything started out great, they scheduled an appointment and came out to evaluate my chimneys needs. They then scheduled an appointment to do the work, unfortunately it rained that day so I had to reschedule.
After that everything went downhill. The day "Tiny Tom's" themselves rescheduled my appointment to do the work...no one even showed up to my house, I called to ask what's going on and a gentleman said I'll figure it out and call you back. I never received a response back from him so upon my second phone call back to the company to ask why is no one here fixing my chimney...I was told sorry not sure what happened we have to reschedule you AGAIN!? I'm taking my business elsewhere and would never recommend this company.

First time we have used a chimney inspection service. The back office staff was quick to get us on the schedule. The technician was wonderfully knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Everything about our experience with Tiny Tom was top notch. The responsiveness of all the personnel from the top down was polite and prompt (which had not been the case with another company we called first). Our serviceman Al showed up on time, with a courtesy call ahead of his scheduled arrival. He introduced himself as an employee and took time to answer any questions I had. You could really tell that he cared about educating his clients about proper fire safety and fireplace maintenance, and as a first-time wood-burning fireplace owner and a mom of three, I so appreciated that. He clearly explained how he was going to repair our chimney cap (which we'd been told by another company needed complete and pricey replacement), the invoice was reasonable and fair with no hidden costs, and the work was performed efficiently and without hassle. Without question, Tiny Tom, and Al in particular, is our choice for a fireplace/chimney care company!

Tiny Tom service was very thorough with customer service. They were available within short notice, arrived on time with a call prior, and were very efficient with good quality. They inspected and cleaned our fireplace. The service man was very professional, and the fireplace works great.

Stay far away from this company. Tiny Tom himself did not come down but rather subbed out the work. These installers were full of attitude. They did not want to install the connection between the hot water tank and the newly installed liner. They tried to suck me for more money after the work was done telling me that the work took longer than expected and that if they do hook up the liner to the hot water tank they would charge an additional $200..
Tiny Tom is subbing out the work to guys with lots of attitude and does not oversee the work. He's simply getting a cut for advertising.
After not taking the scam for more money I called Tiny Tom and explained to him what was going on. He got on the phone and had them finish the job. They completed it with attitude and then wanted me to write a check out to the main guy's name which I refused to do.
Tiny tom is not on sight and doesn't perform the work. If you are looking for a company where you can have the owner or his own workers on site this is not the place for you........

This is a horrible company, and if I could give zero stars, I would. We had them come out to inspect the chimney. I was told at that point that it needed cleaned, walls sealed, and a damper installed. We scheduled a time for them to come back out and a deposit needed to be made at the 2nd visit for the damper to be ordered since it was going to be a custom order. A follow up for install was scheduled (which would have been the 3rd trip). They never showed for the install and never called. Check was cashed at that point in time. It took me 3 times to get ahold of someone to have them come back out to minimally put the second reseal on, at which point I was told by the owner that they didn't order the damper and were instead going to stuff insulation into the fireplace chimney that we would need to remove each time when we would go light a fire. The owner rescheduled the no show (4th scheduled appointment). Day of the reschedule came and the individual attempted to call an hour before stating he would not be coming due to the weather. However, the services I was told needed to be done were inside the home. I spoke with the owner, Tom, and he hung up on me multiple times as I told him it was inappropriate to interrupt me while I was talking. "I don't let my wife talk to me that way but you just go ahead and say what you need to say". (Again, cashed a check for what I was told would be a deposit and then was revised to services that were rendered). I was also told by the owner the individual would need to get on the roof which is why he attempted to cancel. I stated this was never mentioned in any of the previous correspondences both during several previous phone calls and times coming out. The individual who came out was over 35 minutes late. When the gentleman finally arrived after being late, he didn’t bring all the materials initially stated were needed to complete the indoor services. Yet another time has been scheduled for him to come out AGAIN (5th appointment) to inspect whatever he has to at the top of the chimney and to install the insulation inside the home. He actually showed to the 5th appointment and brought the ‘Head Tech’ with him. This gentleman told me he would not be installing the insulation because he disagreed with the owner and would recommend the damper. 5 appointments spanning over almost 3 months. At this point, I will never use this company again. I would highly recommend anyone to use a different company.

Absolutely deplorable. My mother tried to use them to service her chimney, gave John $500, then he called back and said he didn’t think she really needed the work done and that he’d return the check. ONE MONTH later, John is dodging phone calls and still hasn’t returned the check. She then spoke to the “owner” Thomas who said he’d ask John about the matter. Several ducked calls later, NOW Thomas says that John isn’t really affiliated with the company anymore and that he, himself, doesn’t even trust John.

After finally reaching John again, he proceeded to tell my mother a sob story about not having a dollar to his name and being unable to give her a check. These men are sheisty. I don’t know if they’re working together on their swindles or just running their own scams individually, but whatever you do, do NOT use them. We won’t rest until she gets the money back, but everyone needs to beware of these thieves.

I’ve used Tiny Tom many times and they are always efficient, informative, professional and polite. I initially was referred to them to repair my chimney and they were knowledgeable and accurate. My fireplace insert was corrected at a reasonable fee with no issues since. The guy actually described what he thought the issue was over the phone and had it fixed and running within a few weeks. I’ve used them every year to clean the chimney and couldn’t be happier with their service!

This company is a complete rip off. It's been 4 months to install a fireplace did half the work and charged twice the price. Second opinion claimed it was installed wrong. They decided to take the doors from the fireplace and leave the stove. They were supposed to return to remove the rest and didn't. Month later no response or correspondence from them. To point of demanding a refund a month later still waiting for it. It was an insurance claim as well. This has been a 4 month ordeal. I would say this is the most unprofessional business I have ever experienced or had to deal with. They took an insurance check did a bad job never completed it and never returned answered emails phone calls or any texts. Would not suggest anyone does any form of business with this company.

Showed up early and did a great job. Pleasure to do business with!

We hired this business to patch a rather large hole in our front concrete porch. It is difficult to find someone who is interested in doing a small job such as this. Frank agreed and did beautiful and timely work. We have used Tiny Tom for other concrete patchwork in the past and the results have lasted very well over time. We are grateful for the work that has been done and highly recommend this business.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! DO NOT USE THEM! I hired them to do a chimney clean and inspection. They were very dishonest and insisted that I had $2,500 worth of repairs that were needed and could be seen from the road. I had a second opinion Chimney Chick come out and she was very open and honest and assured me that we did not need any of those repairs that was mentioned on my invoice from Tiny Tom. Definitely will NEVER use them again and most definitely WOULD NOT recommend.
