Zero stars if I could … Terrible Experience – I Would Never Use Roto-Rooter Again

I hired Roto-Rooter to locate a line on my property. The first technician marked the line and charged me for using a camera—but he never ran a camera. Based on his markings, I hired a contractor to dig, and there was absolutely nothing there.

I called them back, and the manager came out. He did use a camera, but couldn’t find a line. Then he started poking around with a stick, hit something, and suddenly claimed the line was there—even though we had already dug in that exact spot and found nothing.

This experience felt like a total rip-off. I paid for work that wasn’t done properly and for incorrect information. I believe they took advantage of the situation, and the first technician seemed inexperienced and careless.

I would not recommend Roto-Rooter to anyone. They wasted my time, cost me more money, and provided no real answers. Stay away.

Thank God, I didn’t have him do the work because he quoted me at $2800 to dig and fix something that doesn’t exist in that spot!

Let’s be clear: the line you’re referring to was never even the issue I called about, so to say it was “correctly marked” doesn’t matter—it wasn’t the source of the problem. That alone shows how off-base your explanation is.

Second, the area that was dug was exactly where your technician told us to dig. You can try to blame my contractor, but we followed your team’s direction. The fact that your manager had to come back, use a camera (which the first technician never did), and go over the area again just proves my point: your team was not accurate or professional the first time.

You charged me for work that wasn’t done right, misled me about what tools were used, and now want to spin it as if this was all someone else’s mistake. My review was very honest, and I stand by it. Roto-Rooter is a rip-off, and I will not be changing my review to protect your reputation when you didn’t protect my time, money, or trust as a customer.

The technician did a good job of identifying the problem and planning the necessary repair. He snaked the drain from below the kitchen sink and went beyond the initial clog to make sure it would not obstruct farther down. He also left the area below the sink cleaner than when he began work.

We hired Roto-Rooter to clear some sink drains as well as inspect a toilet that doesn’t like to flush every time. They had fantastic communication and let us know they were on their way with ETA, super friendly technician, quick to find the problem and get it repaired, and it was very affordable! Highly recommend them!!

We had an awful experience with Roto Rooter. We had an emergency plumbing situation and they were the only ones who could come out quickly. All we needed done was the shower fixtures replaced. They charged us over $1000, and the guy who came out didn’t do the job correctly. They sent someone else out to fix it, but he fixed the existing problem and created another. The second guy who came also reeked of marijuana. Now we are out over $1000 (we had the same thing done in our other shower at a later time and only had to pay a few hundred—that plumber told us we had been ripped off) and we have a showerhead that sprays everywhere when the bath is running. We had called Roto Rooter to tell them there was a new problem and they were unwilling to send someone out again. Save your money and stick with local, small plumbing businesses who have been around a long time. Roto Rooter uses inexperienced plumbers, overcharges, and doesn’t care about their work.

Technician provided awesome service along with his vast knowledge of the issues and he was courteous and kind and arrived promptly. Hope to never need this service again but if I do I am calling ROTO ROOTER

I was quoted $370 for a camera inspection of my under slab drain lines for a leak. When the tech called before heading my way he said there would be a $40 mileage fee added. He inspected the main cast iron line, which looked fine, but didn’t bring a camera small enough for the branch lines. He then gave me a quote of $12,928 to completely replace the kitchen and washer drain lines without even knowing what kind of repairs they might need. He then tried to charge me almost $150 extra, saying there was an additional locating fee and mileage.

Telly was awesome! Very personable and took care of our issue efficiently. We will recommend to others!

I am so glad Roto-Rooter sent Trent over to our home. He is the best! Explained everything really well and did an amazing job installing our new garbage disposal. Tested everything before he left, made sure the pipes were draining perfectly well, answered all my kids questions, and overall gave us excellent advice.

I was hectic to call cause I def thought big named company....would want to charge me lots....Donnie came and quoted me the price which he also explained was overage of what it may be! And when they started the work they DEF tried to keep it under quote. But my house is wild crazy so they had to go over quote but they walked me through every bit of what they were doing and what price they were at to make sure I didn't go over limit!! And my house is def an unusual house!! Shout out to Skylar as well whom helped Donnie in this crazy adventure!!! I will def be using them in future plumbing endeavors and referencing them to anyone with plumbing issues!!!

Exceptional service, upfront and honest. The technicians/plumbers were well spoken and professional. Were able to identify the leak and fixed in the same day with proper invoice for the additional damage. Would recommend to anyone.

Emergency service was needed had a flooded bathroom , hallway and pantry. Started shop vac then called Roto Rooter. Explained the situation and was immediately helped. Great service. Thanks

Had a plumber come out to snake our roof sewer vents to address a smell coming from both toilets, with one toilet slow filling and gurgling. The tech (Julian) was polite and professional, so this is not a knock on him.

However, the job couldn’t be completed because our roof was “too steep.” Apparently this company does not provide safety harnesses, which feels like something that should be known before sending someone out — or at least disclosed upfront.

Aside from flushing the toilet a few times, no work was performed. Even the technician admitted it felt awkward charging $300 when nothing was actually fixed and suggested maybe doing a smoke test instead.
Paying $300 for an hour and zero resolution is frustrating.

If you are going to say you can work on roofs, then have the tools to do so or verify you cannot when you first get their so not to waste time, or customers money.

The technician Telly was very professional and friendly. He addressed all of the issues with my drains and cleaned up the mess, lol. Call Roto-Rooter OKC... THEY ARE TRULY THE BEST!

We were able to get service just hour's after reaching out. They sent out Jack W. who was very knowledgeable, personable, and took care of our drainage issue! A positive experience all around. We recommend!

Very appreciative of Roto Rooter and their technician Julian. The came out in single digit temps and snaked my main line that was clogged because of the grandkids dropping river rock into my clean out pipe. Julian was very friendly and explained in detail what he was doing. His eyes also caught small remnants of tree roots starting to grow into the drain and food particles that wasn’t crushed up from the disposal. He offered tips on both. Great experience despite the frigid temperatures. Thank you!!

I had a very serious problem with my sewer system, it was poorly installed and constantly backing up. The crew from Roto -Rooter came out showed me what the problem was and what it would take to fix it. Julian, Alex and Garret went beyond the call of duty to fix the system and make sure I was satisfied with the job

Trent was fabulous, doing a thorough and complete repair as described below.

Used his personal Midsize Chipping hammer to open up and breakup the concrete floor around Hot manifold in Tankless Water heater closet to gain access to 1/2" and 3/4" copper water lines. Rebuilt the two lines with 1/2" and 3/4" pex pipe and fittings.

This repair was for up to 1 foot of pipe under slab. When he was finished with repairing the pipes, he rebuilt the concrete with sand and concrete. Very little concrete dust.

He insulated the new water lines with Pipe wrap.

Additionally, he rebuilt pex from under slab to pex that was connected to tankless water heater.

He was professional, clearly
explaining each step of the repair work and keeping us posted on his progress.

And, he came in under the estimate!

I called for a clogged sink after 1 pm on a Friday, and our technician Garrette was there within 30 minutes of the call. He explained everything very clear, and what he had to do for the clog. I feel like the price was fair. He left us a card, and we will be keeping them in mind for future issues.

Julian and the other service tech arrived on time and were very professional and polite . They assessed the problem and made good honest recommendations. They both were knowledgeable about the issues and upfront with solutions and cost. Very pleased and will call again if needed.
