After 22 years we knew we were close to needing a new roof. Orion Roofing was referred to us by close friends who own an apartment building and also had Orion roof their personal home. From the beginning we were impressed by this local, family owned business. Jason, Jaclyn and Mario communicated clearly, honestly with a 'no pressure" vibe. When Mario came out to do the bid, he even did a few temporary fixes on the roof to hold us over. They also accommodated us (and the the weather permitted) to get it done by the end of the year so they arrived the day after Christmas. Their bid was excellent and fair even with a few extra items we wanted, and their warranty is amazing! Their crew were easy to work with and answered questions via text thread with the office team. Everything was clean and tidy when they finished.

I highly recommend anyone to consider consulting with them before you decide on what roofing company to use, especially if you want to support a local, family owned business.

Orion is an ethical and accountable company, they stand behind their work and will come back if there's a problem. Their communication is excellent, and their work is beautiful. Jason and Jaclyn helped us pick exactly the right products and color. They went out of their way to be available for questions, and the team lead Mario even fixed an issue with a disconnected conduit that another contractor had caused. This is our second house roof they've helped us with. With something as important as a roof, quality is essential, and with Orion you'll get high quality!

Orion roofing was great from start to finish. Local, established for decades, and truly hands on. Being able to speak directly with the owner throughout the entire process – from the first visit, to emails and text during production – made a huge difference.

I have a home that is showing regular signs of aging ( just like me!). I’ve lived here 51 years and live my home so I want to take care of it. Val came out to give me some estimates and I was impressed with his skills and knowledge. Bonus points for being such an all around nice guy! I have met with several contractors and discussed many projects with lots of bids. Val is someone I would hire with full trust and confidence. TLDR Version: I will hire them again without question!

Phoenix Quality Construction and its owner Val Velasquez are an up-and-coming power in home renovation / construction in the area. They're great to work with and turned my near-teardown inherited house into a safe, beautiful, clean, like-new home and earned me a successful, problem free sale. I recommend them wholeheartedly, with the caveat that there might be communication issues, and you'll need to manage those closely for maximum success with their team.

Highlights:
* Contracted to do a whole rehab on a home that was on track to be a total tear down.
* Of 5 contractors we contacted, PQC came in with an extremely comprehensive bid - not the highest, not the lowest, but the most thoughtful.
* Val Velasquez, the owner of the firm, was our point person and had a great eye for redesign opportunities that weren't even on our menu when going into the rehab.

Work Done:
* All new siding: Hardie board with all new underlay and all bad plywood replaced.
* A new trex deck, The colors and design were great complements to the existing color scheme and worked out well.
* New fencing on 2 sides of the house that was perfectly uniform and plumb.
* Full renos on both bathrooms. Tile was stellar, finish work was precise, refinishes made old cabinets like new.

Highlights:
* While working on the outside of the house, we received feedback from our neighbors that the PQC crews were respectful of their property and mindful of potential sound concerns.
* They were also very careful about neatness and avoiding collateral damage to things when deconstructing a defunct shed.
* All new light fixtures and switches inside and out. >99% wiring success rate. All new to-code wiring passed inspection. Any errors corrected swiftly.
* All new kitchen appliances. They were competitively priced and a selling point.
* All kitchen tile was standout well done. All counter surfaces were very precisely finished.
* All interior paint, flooring, and finishes were replaced. Drywall patching was extremely well done. Superb surface matching and paint matching.
* Personnel issues were handled professionally, discreetly, and the site was kept well secured.

Lowlights:
* Plumbing was a little weak, but was remedied immediately on notice.
* Communication was spotty when Val was not available.

STANDOUT HIGHLIGHTS!
* They manage subcontractors well and steered us away from a crazy foundation contractor who tried to steer us to $50k+ in work when the issue was actually with framing and was fixed for ~$5000.

* We had an emergency issue with a leak caused by a flashing problem at a plumbing vent they'd worked on and Val had someone out and the issue fixed the same day, and the sheetrock replaced in the affected area within 48 hours in the worst of 2024's weather.

I will hire them again and expect them to be huge in the greater Portland metro area.

I don't usually give references but this compay compelled me to offer my sincere appreciation. They not only came to my needs quickly but did two jobs for me with high quality and very reasonable prices. I have since called them and they had a man here the same day. The owner Val is an estremely honorable man and I will always call them first for any home job I have.
