Ryan and his team remodeled our basement to turn it into a mother-in-law suite. They gutted the space, added a bathroom and kitchen from scratch, added two egress windows, lighting, the whole deal!

We are extremely happy with the outcome of our project. Ryan and his team stayed on schedule and on budget practically to a tee. With an older home, a couple things came up, but I felt involved and satisfied with the solutions. The only other things that added time and/or money were our additions and requests for extended scope.
Ryan was one of the few contractors that was actually willing to work with us to meet our specific budget and be flexible with us doing some of the finish work. I received quite a few bids in our process for finding the right contractor, and Ryan was not only very competitive with his price, but one of the few that I felt was being transparent with me about the process. I am glad I listened to my gut! He was always, and still continues to be, very communicative via text, phone, and e-mail. He was always quick to get back to me with my constant stream of questions.
They say you can judge a good company not by when things go perfectly, but when they don't and how the issue gets handled. We had a situation where the flooring product we chose was potentially not behaving well. Ryan and his sub-contractor were immediately there to check it out and standing behind their work 110%. I feel confident that if I have issues, Ryan will make it right.
Overall, we are incredibly happy with our decision to go with Catalyst and love the final result. I just had a group of friends over yesterday and they were blown away by the transformation.

We hired Catalyst to turn our dark and dusty basement into a place that we could use and actually want to hang out in. Did it take longer than we all thought it would? Yes. Were there some hiccups along the way? Sure. But we always felt like Ryan, Nick, and the rest of the crew were trustworthy, honest, and easy to talk to. And now we have this great extra space in our house that we are really happy with.

Found Catalyst because they had one of the better reviews on Google. I originally wanted to expand my existing garage to have a larger work shop that was properly powered for me to work on my projects. Ryan was professional from our first meeting, after talking to him we all agreed it would be best to leave only a small section of the existing structure and do a majority new build. Ryan worked and planned as best he could around my budget, but due to Covid related circumstances out of anyone's control it did go over. When a lot of money is involved in a project like this it always makes me nervous to work with contractors, plenty of horror stories around of incomplete jobs, etc. Ryan and his crew however were always very responsive and he personally always made sure to reply to me and keep me in the loop about costs, changes and when sections of the job were going to be completed. Catalyst followed through on everything and made sure to leave the job site cleaned up when the construction was completed. I am very happy with my new shop and glad I went wit Catalyst.

Ryan and the team were wonderful to work with. The executed the design well for my addition and kitchen remodel. Their subs were great to work with. They were great with me being pretty hands on. I would definitely recommend for projects big and small. I researched them by calling former clients who said the strength of Catalyst was their communication. I completely agree. They stuck to their estimate and did good work.

We hired Ryan at Catalyst Construction to remodel a powder room, add a bedroom/office using existing attic space, and add a basement bathroom. It was our first large scale remodeling project, and we got 3 bids for the job. Ryan's came in at the lower end, and he seemed knowledgeable and could work on our schedule. Ryan did most of the work himself except for the drywall, plumbing, electrical, and a few other miscellaneous things. He did all the finish work himself, including the tile work in the new shower and adding wood floors to match the 80+ year old oak floors in the house. He was there most every day, and finished the work within 8 weeks. Ryan was a pleasure to work with, and had great subcontractors. His extensive experience in framing came in handy when working on the attic remodel.

Because we had a great experience the first time, we hired him again to remodel our kitchen. Once again, he did a terrific job, working with us closely on the design and details that we wanted. He demolished the old kitchen, tore out the breakfast nook, moved stairs and installed new cabinetry. We've received numerous compliments on the kitchen and the work he's done. He is skilled, flexible, reasonably priced, and easy to work with. Based on our experience, I highly recommend Ryan and Catalyst Construction.

My experience with Ryan and his crew at Catalyst Construction was great. Ryan gave me a written quote for my egress window and the price never changed. Ryan explained my options for my egress window and helped me make the best choice. He worked with me on a timetable that worked for us as we had other work we were trying to get done in our basement also.
His crew were very efficient and meticulous with the work area as they cleaned up along the way.
The work was done in the time frame Ryan quoted me and it looks great.

We bought a new home with a finished basement. Ryan did a great job with replacing our basement window with an egress window. His team acted efficiently to dig out a well along the side of the house and then install the window. They completed the project on time and cleaned up the job site. Egress window installation!
Ryan responded quickly to my request and gave us a good quote based on the Angie's List special pricing. We had a few other bids and his was on the lower end. He upsold us to a better well material. He worked within our specific time constraint and got the job done as expected! One of his employees did most of the heavy lifting, so to speak, and you could tell that he was still an apprentice. Ryan came over a few times during the installation to check on the work and ensure it was up to his standards. Overall, the window looks great and he matched the inside finish to look like the other windows in our basement. Very pleased with this work!

Our Dream Home!
The moment we walked into the contemporary home Catalyst Construction & Remodeling built, we knew this place was special. The attention to detail, eye for design and tasteful finish selection are just the beginning. Every level of the home has a beautiful gas fireplace including the rooftop deck. Mixed stone and glass back splashes compliment the custom cabinetry in the kitchen and bathrooms. Every surface is functional plus durable. As soon as we walked up to the rooftop deck with a 360 view, we put an offer in. Later, during the home inspection, the building inspector said it was the best built modern home he had ever seen. I could not recommend Catalyst Construction and Remodeling enough! I had an attached two car garage built with a potential living space above. It included a new breezeway with beautiful decking and cedar staircase and handrail. Ryan was very professional, timely, and super easy to work with.
Ryan's communication was on point and he continuously kept me informed of progress and any revision to the schedule.
He went above and beyond working with the City of Portland to get approved for this building.
He also spent time making sure the new garage upper floor level matched our current home upstairs, so we have the potential to connect them in the future.

I hired Catalyst Construction for installation of an egress window in my basement and they did such an excellent job. The workmanship was so beautiful which was not easy with uneven walls in our 1892 home. They also did such a nice job of cleaning up. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

We had our main bathroom remodeled by Ryan and his team and it was pretty straightforward. It turned out exactly as I had envisioned it. The craftsmanship is exceptional and I think it's the best room within the house, or at least the best looking. Ryan and his team were easy to communicate with and work with.

Worked with Ryan and his team for a while on a home addition and electrical system upgrade. Ryan was communicative throughout the process from initial ideas to punchlist. It was nice getting to know each separate team and sub, and they were all skilled, professional, and kind. I recommend giving them a call if you're looking for easy work to complex work.
