Liberty has been an exceptional service since we moved here six years ago. They’ve kept our trees in fantastic shape and have always provided great advice on our yard. After the recent storm they responded to our call within an hour and were on site That same day, coming back the following day to remove our downed tree. I highly recommend them.

Thanks to Mike and Crew 7! They were on time, fast and clean in getting rid of growing ivy on my patio walls. They also sprayed and cleaned up weeds in my alley. Would definitely recommend.

What an excellent experience we have had working with Liberty on many projects over the years, most recently taking down a number of trees in a hard to reach city garden, grinding the stumps, and removing a large trellis. We worked with Crew 7,and the entire team was courteous, kind, knowledgeable and efficient. In addition to taking down a particularly challenging tree in a tight space, we had a handful of large boulders that were too difficult to remove from the property intact. Sean went above and beyond to break them up into smaller pieces - that man is a machine! Thanks to Mike and the full Crew 7 team for the hard work and the great results!

Couldn’t be more pleased with the tree service that Mike at Liberty Tree and Crew 7 did at my house. From start to finish, they were incredibly professional and diligent. They executed taking down a large oak on a city street like a well-oiled machine, it was incredible to witness. Every detail of my tree removal and new tree planting was thoughtfully done, right down to Crew 7 doing a thorough street clean up and using the leaf blower to remove wood dust that had settled on surrounding parked cars. I have worked with Mike from Liberty Tree for years and I've had a very good experience every time. I value communication and Mike has always been very good at that. I just had 2 trees removed in the city by their Crew 7. It is not easy, but they did an excellent job. They are very professional and friendly. They even were kind to my neighbors who had questions about the process. They cleaned up impressively well. I also like how they educate me on how to take care of my trees. They care. I love my new tree.

I have used Liberty at our condo building twice and both experiences were good ones. They are very responsive, helpful and fairly priced. Just today, their foreman and crew 7 came out within an hour of me calling to remove a huge branch that was torn down overnight. It was laying in the street blocking parking and part of our sidewalk so it was incredibly helpful that they could take care of it so quickly. I definitely recommend Liberty and would use them again.

I used Liberty to mow the back yard and front lawn of my house. The men who come out to mow the lawn have always been very nice. But the business puts customers on 8-10 day mowing schedule for the whole season, which is too often for what my property needs in the summer when the grass grows very slowly. I think they should have a more flexible or realistic schedule that their customers can choose from.

Liberty was great to work with on a tree/playground project that we worked on in Southwest Philadelphia. I really appreciate that Crew number 7 was willing to step outside of how they normally do things to accommodate the special types of cuts and work that we needed so that we could reuse portions of the tree to build a local nature based playground.

We’ve been using Liberty Tree for about two years now, and I am still blown away with their work. We typically use their services for lawn maintenance (they’re the best), as well as help curing some sickly trees on our property. This year, Adam and crew 14 helped us remove some sick/unsightly bushes, re-mulch our garden, remove the fallen leave, and aerate/seed our yard. I couldn’t believe how quickly they were able to accomplish all the necessary work, and leave our yard *sparkling* when they were finished. I am obsessed with the results so far, and we can’t wait to work with them in the spring to plant our new garden!!

We had LARGE (at least 5 stories and with two trunks) Ailanthus tree removed from an enclosed, postage stamp sized city backyard. After years of dreading that one day soon the tree would need to be removed, the lantern flies that infested it were the final straw. Last year we were unable to use our yard because of the disgusting creatures.
We contacted Mike Duffy of Liberty Tree & Landscape Management because we knew from past experience that they had the competence and expertise to meet such a challenge. This was a daunting task, beyond the ability of most. Liberty made it look easy with a crane, a crew and a chipper.
It was a sight to behold. Team 5 worked gracefully and seamlessly to remove the tree. As the tree was cut, each 8-10’ section was lifted directly from the trunk by a crane. The crane then transported the section, delivering it to the crew that guided the segment right into the chipper on a nearby lot.
Crew 5 worked like a well oiled machine. It was great to watch them communicate with one another throughout this process. They were extremely cautious and careful with our property and our neighbors properties. They were done faster than we could have ever imagined.
What a show! What a cleanup! We were all impressed from start to finish. Their cleanup was meticulous (including our neighbor’s roof)!

Mike and his Crew 7 team did a fantastic job in trimming several very large trees which overhang from my neighbors on both sides and blocked out a good portion of the sunlight in my backyard, in addition to mulching my flower / plant bed and treating my maple tree. They were professional, thorough and efficient and friendly. I will definitely call on them again for any landscaping needs.

Mike and crew 7 did an excellent job on my tree trimming project! I had an issue with a neighbor's tree overhanging into my backyard and an overgrown magnolia, and they were able to get creative despite limitations (no access to neighbors property, no machinery could fit through the house). They were efficient and left my backyard tidier than it was when they got here! I would definitely recommend them and use them for future needs! First picture is after, second is before.

We had an excellent experience with a large sycamore tree that needed trimming over our house. The crew, Mark, Giuseppe, and Sean, was highly communicative before and during the process. They were clean and efficient, as well. We will definitely use Liberty Tree again in the future.

Liberty Tree completed two days of pruning and health maintenance for 12 trees in our HOA. They did a wonderful job. Mark, Sean and Guiseppe were the crew that did the work. They are experts at what they do, but also very polite and careful to clean up after. We'll be very happy to continue to use Liberty going forward

From start to finish Liberty was a professional and courteous operation. Mike made us comfortable with the treatment of our sycamore and elevation. Tree crew 5 was gentle with the tree and did an outstanding job! We couldn't be more happy with the service and highly recommend Liberty for the health of your tree's.

High quality service and great results. We live in a 300 year old home in Society Hill, Philadelphia with several garden hardscaping challenges — the crew made our backyard feel bigger and brighter , courteous crew, and left with everything cleaned. No damage to property or garden. Highly recommend!

Old First Church had been left waiting by the tree service we'd been using. Looking for an alternative, I texted Liberty Tree Service at 9 am, had a call back in 15 minutes, met them on site in another 15 minutes. Crew 7 -- Guiseppie, Mark and Jose -- were in the area, and an hour and a half later, 2 trees and 5 bushes were down, in the chopper and the area was cleaned up like nothing happened. Really amazing (I'm not sure these turnaround times are always promised!), but I'm confident in the service! Looking forward to working with them to plant 5 new trees, a bunch of shrubs / bushes and perrenials as well as move some granite slabs. Couldn't recommend Liberty Tree Service higher...

New Review for 2025...below this review is my previous review from 2022. I just had the tree trimmed again (2025), and I am once again very satisfied with how the trimming went. Mike Duffy and his team (Mark, Sean, and Guiseppie) from Liberty showed up right on time, and they were ready to start work first thing in the morning. It was a pleasure to watch them work, especially all the climbing they had to do in order to access the upper reaches of my towering sycamore. I left to go into the office and I was hoping to get back before they finished, but I knew they were completed the job when my neighbor sent me a mid-afternoon text "they did a great job!" Both my neighbor and I were very pleased with both the tree trimming and how thoroughly the team cleaned up sidewalk, road, etc.

I look forward to working with Liberty again!

I live in a rowhouse in the city in front of which is a shockingly huge sycamore. Liberty came to my house in 2015 to trim the tree back, and it looked great…just like a new haircut. Seven years later and the poor thing was overdue for a trimming. Mike and his team ( Crew 7 ) came out this week to get the tree back into shape. They showed up first thing in the morning, got right to work, and after much climbing and rappelling and cutting, the tree looks great. It was impressive to watch the crew work; I snapped some photos which do not do justice to the heights they climbed nor the extent to which they were literally out on a limb. Even though they had to contend with power lines running in multiple directions while working 30+ feet in the air, I never had the sense they were unsafe. When the crew finished with the tree they did a fantastic job cleaning up…the street is cleaner now than it was before they started work. All-in-all, I am very pleased, and I absolutely will work with Liberty again when it comes to both yearly maintenance ( fertilizer; growth inhibitor ) and periodic trimming. The attached pics represent the "after" look; I forgot to take a before pic. But, the bramble of limbs is all orderly now. I am excited to see it when the leaves grow in.
