We were looking for a commercial general contractor in Fishtown and found SOF Company online. We had a violation on our building from the city and needed a licensed contractor. Doug handled everything for us, from pulling the permit to replacing the sidewalk. We reached out to several contractors, but no one wanted to take the time to fix the violation. Doug took care of it all and worked directly with the city inspectors to get everything sorted out. We definitely recommend them to anybody looking for a general contractor in Philadelphia.

Working with SOF Company led by Doug Franklin is an unparalleled experience in asking for what you want and then getting it delivered on-time and within budget by a professional who knew every type of craftsman from tile, to flooring, to window and door installation, painting, spackling and siding (to name a few). I had countless contractors promise me quotes and got ghosted by each and every one of them SOF Company took my half-finished kitchen, dining room, living room and sunroom and completed them (my first floor) quickly and beautifully. Doug was in constant communication, offering ideas, finding unique solutions and getting the job done. I will never call anyone else to help me with any other home-improvement projects and have several more planned with them beginning in 2024. I am sharing just a few photographs of my first floor renovation. I am so happy and was thrilled to host a holiday party and bask in the endless positive comments from my friends and family.

We recently hired SOF Company to open our dining room wall and install a sliding glass door. Our expectations were high since my husband and I are very handy and have done several renovations at our home ourselves. Because of the scope of this particular job, we called around for estimates. Not only was SOF’s estimate the most affordable, the contract contained more for the money, and they were able to meet our timeframe for completion.
Doug, the company owner, was very reachable during the project and communicated with me and my husband regularly over the two days of the project. Their crew of 2 were on-time, friendly, and skilled beyond our hopes.
They worked steadily from the time they arrived on-site until there was no more daylight. They cleaned up debris as they went along and left no mess behind. We are so happy that we chose SOF Company and would definitely hire them again for future projects.

Company owner Doug did a fantastic job for a fantastic price on our project. We had a serious leak under our deck. The entire deck had to be ripped out and rebuilt. In addition, the stucco wall adjacent to the deck had to be rebuilt as well. After pricing out the project with several companies, we realized it was going to be costly and there is chance that many contractors won’t do a complete job. Fortunately we found Doug. Not only did he finished the job with a very reasonable cost, he also did many extra things for us that we didn’t even expect.

SOF Company did a great job fixing the exterior structural damage from the snow. Dougs crew were on point, fast, professional, and solid work all around. If you need a Contractor who actually knows what they’re doing, these are the guys to call.

Absolutely incredible work! Our basement back door had a giant gap that was consultantly letting in cold air. SOF completely refurbished and improved the entire set-up. They kept in frequent contact, helped explain different solutions to different problems, were incredibly helpful through the whole process, and did it all with warmth and a great sense of humor. On top of all that, they used extra materials from insulating the door to insulate other parts of our basement, ensuring for a warmer house overall. Great services, great people, great contractors!

SOF was incredible, I had exterior structural repairs needed on the roof of my rowhome porch. My roof was old, letting water through and had rotted out the framing Doug got in touch with me right away, was able to diagnose my problem with a couple pictures and phone calls, but came out to look any way and confirm. They provided an estimate quickly and they were dead on with timing, and we came in right at the low end of the estimate WITH extra work done that we hadn't discussed up front. The whole crew were professional and left the worksite cleaner than they found it. If you need general contracting services call these guys first, they are world class.

Doug and his team have been a pleasure to work with on multiple projects. They were able to tackle a very specific greenhouse roofing replacement, which proved to be a challenging process that not many people were willing to take on. They thought outside the box and found a very creative and effective solution for us. Would love to work with them again moving forward.

As someone who’s owned a home for many years, I can say SOF Company was one of the most reliable crews I’ve worked with. I had a great experience working with SOF Company. I live in a historic courtyard in Queens Village, right off Front Street, so I was really careful about who I hired. I needed some exterior Moldings replaced and a bit of structural work. The company is professional, respectful, and reliable. They understood how important it was to be mindful to the neighbors and they handled everything with care. I’m really happy with the quality of the work and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a responsible contractor.
