Jonathan went above and beyond to make sure the leak in my system was fixed. As soon as the needed part was available, he was over to install it. I was able to get a quick initial appointment as well. I would definitely recommend to others!

I called NextGen for a diagnostic. When they came out, there was ice on the pipes so they had to turn it off to then come back later to diagnose. They explained me my options (check for leaks, add refrigerant and see what happens, replace the unit). I found the explanation winding and lacking clarity. I told him a tenant would be in the building when he got back and would tell him which of the three to move on with (in addition to the standard diagnostic). My tenant told him to replace the refrigerant to see how long it would take before the leak presented another issue. At some point in this process, the drainage from the ice fried the unit’s electricity, rendering it necessary for me to replace the unit. (According to the technician, it was fried right after he added $400 of refrigerant. I can’t verify that timing.) Instead of calling me once the unit was fried, the technician then did $200 of work to have the HVAC temporarily work (which it did for several hours before it again stopped working because it was fried).

I didn’t appreciate the $200 of work without speaking to me given that the unit needed to replaced and that the weather was cool. So, I reached out to three other companies for quotes wanting to switch providers. Each of the other technicians voiced some sort of surprise of why anyone would create such a “rat’s nest” of electrical wiring in a broken system. Two gave an innuendo that some companies intentionally use the risk of drainage frying systems to intentionally fry systems and make more full installation sales. At this point, I was feeling uncomfortable with my total engagement with NextGen.

My experience with each of the other three companies was more pleasant. Prices and units offered were comparable. The others spoke more plainly, in my mind.

I had decided to not leave a negative review but let NextGen know that I went with another company and was unhappy about the unnecessary work done without calling me. I very quickly got an angry, screaming from the company. For 10 minutes, I was just yelled at and insulted over the phone because I had said I was unhappy over not being called between the unit being totally broken and additional work being done. That phone call and the way he spoke to me is the reason I am leaving this review.

Highly certain of my decision to use a different company. Once you see the way someone reacts when their behavior is in any way questioned, you see who they truly are. This is not a man who you want to ever have to raise an issue with. Highly unprofessional.

Johnathan came recommend from a friend who needed help when their ac unit broke over the summer. Since Johnathan has helped me out with my ac unit and again with the furnace. He has always been transparent in regards to the problems and their solutions. Definitely would recommend

After unsuccessfully trying to troubleshoot an AC issue ourselves, we called Jonathan because our AC was not turning on. Jonathan was able to come out the same day we called, texted us when he was on his way, and showed up in the time window he told us. After testing various things, he was able to determine we had a frayed wire in our AC unit that was causing low voltage, added a connector to fix the problem, and secured the wires to prevent it from happening again. We appreciate the quick response and ability to solve the issue. We will definitely be using NextGen if other AC or heating problems come up in the future.

We were referred to Jonathan from another contractor we hired. The first quality I noticed right out of the gate about Jonathan was responsiveness. He was in touch shortly after we contacted him and before the day was out we were scheduled to have him come by that same week to get us out of a pinch with our HVAC issues. Jonathan communicated well from start to finish with me, he showed up when he said he was going to(this absolutely never happens in this city) and personable. Jonathan got right to work after doing an analysis of our situation. Afterwards, he kept me in the loop on his solution and got the job done in just a few hours. I also appreciate that he stayed to test the AC units to ensure they were working properly for an adequate amount of time.

Even after a job well done, I reached out to Jonathan for some peculiar noises I heard from the unit he worked on. It turned out to be nothing and went away practically on it's own. But I mention this because Jonathan took time out of his day to come by and ensure customer satisfaction. I appreciate professionals that take that level of pride in their craft. Jonathan and the people at NextGen Heating & Air Conditioning will be the only company I call on when I need AC/heating work to be done. Thank you for helping keep our home comfortable during these hot summer days!

Johnathan was awesome, I left message and got a call back quickly. I was impressed that he came out same night since we had no heat. Got part and replaced in record time. I called a few other companies and some never called back. Only one other 2 days later. Definitely use again!

Jonathan from NexGen has been servicing my central air unit for the past two years. The first year was June 2022, I was searching for a company that had great reviews that was in my area, so I came across NexGen. I called to set up an appointment and I received a call back within an hour and it was Jonathan. I explained to him that my unit wasn’t getting cold and I felt like something was wrong. He said no problem, he gave me an appointment for the next day and was there on time. He diagnosed the unit and found that we needed refrigerant (4 pounds) and it needed to be cleaned and charged. I was so grateful and thankful that he was honest and that was all it needed for the time being. He also sat with me and my husband to give us all other options and to let us know that if we had any issues after he leaves to call him and he’ll come back out. The prices was amazingly reasonable, honestly I was surprised at the prices. We really thought we needed to purchase another unit, but Jonathan came in and resolved the problem. However, we ran back into the same issue this year (2023). Jonathan came out and this time we only needed (2 pounds) of refrigerant. He filled it back up, but this time he added some Stop Leak fluid and now we are up and running again. We saved more money this year again and we didn’t have to replace the unit. NexGen is reliable, professional, they don’t lie to you just to get money out of you. Jonathan will be honest and give you all your options and let you make the decision. There’s no pressure. Called to see if they do free estimates for repairs. Instead of just answering yes or no, the guy keeps asking me questions on what I want done. Finally, he said he'd charge a service fee to give an estimate. I told him I was not interested in paying this fee and he rudely said "k thank you" and hung up on me.

Fellow consumers: never pay a service fee for someone to tell you their opinion of what needs to be done. It's not that that doesn't take labor and talent, but if they want to be paid, they should be forced to compete for our BUSINESS, not make $100 on every estimate they give. Stay away from these scammers.

Response to the owner: second opinions are NORMAL. You just want to charge fees to force people into accepting your overblown estimates. I did not want you to do what another contractor said and no i was not going to have a handyman do it. So glad you think you know everything. Your reviews are probably paid for or by people who have no idea they're being overcharged or that there are indeed companies who do FREE estimates.

Johnathan is very good at what he does and he is trustworthy and fair. There have been two separate occasions I called and came over immediately and he is a great worker and smart! I would recommend him to anyone.

Jonathan saved us on a very hot July Saturday in South Philly! We were desperate and had called several people in the area trying to get someone here quickly. Some folks said they would try to come but didn’t follow up with us. Not Next Gen. they said they’d be here in 2 hours and we’re here even sooner. They were friendly and professional. It took Jonathan about 5 minutes to diagnose the problem (bad capacitator). 10 minutes later we had a new part in place and our AC was running again! The total price, for the part and the work, was less than what some of the other companies told us they would charge just to come out and diagnose the issue. We will call Jonathan and NexGen first next time!!!!

Jonathan was refreshingly honest about being able to fix my unit instead of giving me the hard sell to replace the system.

He came out to give me an estimate and after assessing the situation spent a couple of hours getting my system up and running again, saving me thousands of dollars.

He also gave me a fair quote on a new system and the confidence he inspired in me makes me certain that when the time comes, I’ll be giving him a call for that upgrade.

He did a great job of helping me get another couple of seasons out of the system, which gives me time to prepare for the cost of replacement down the line.

I can only say he is spectacular, I had HVAC & Heater wiring issues.
I told him what I needed and now I can utilize my systems in an economical way.
At my house in 48hrs, explained everything, very fair pricing, the estimate was difficult as he had to assess the situation.
Finally, he knows the IT of the new thermostats and made sure I knew how to operate before he left. He is my person.

Jonathan was amazing. I called on Sunday afternoon in a pickle as the air stopped working and he arrived within 30 minutes. Can’t thank him enough for super fast service!

Could not ask for better service from an HVAC technician.

I live in a South Philly rowhome and my furnace was acting up.
Jonathan answered my call right away, scheduled a couple days out, and arrived exactly on time. He then spent an extensive amount of time troubleshooting the furnace, leaving no stone unturned. There are probably others as competent in the city, but few would have had the dedication to investigate my issue with this kind of depth.

He was here for a quote on a new system but instead recommended to a service call to see why the HVAC system was down to begin with which in turn saved us a few thousands of dollars. I echo what other reviewers have said here about Jonathan. He assessed the problem with our AC unit and gave us all the options. He didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need, or default to replacing the unit entirely. The most impressive thing I can say about this NextGen is that the owner is honorable, honest and hardworking. It was a bonus that our problem was resolved same day thanks to his willingness to drop by and see if he could assess the issue. Pricing was fair and transparent. Service and knowledge of the AC unit was exceptional. Highly recommend.

Jonathan was quick to respond to any communication and was able to get our new boiler installed in a week. Installation was quick and no mess was made. He made sure everything was working before heading out.

Jonathon was great. Called him at 6p on a Sunday when our AC broke and he arrived in 30min. He explained everything to me and even fixed some shady wiring done by a prior contractor. He was able to reset some switches and just charged their service fee. No upselling. We (and our very thick-coated dog) are very grateful for the expeditious, no hassle experience!
