Beautiful greenhouse with a very large selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Some items are pricey, but others are very cheap for what they'd normally go for. I'm willing to spend a little extra as all of their plants are extremely well cared for.

Employees here are always very friendly and helpful.

My literal only complaint(and this comes with an asterisk lol) is that about half the houseplants I've gotten have had mealybugs- I will say that this is something that will obviously happen in any greenhouse. However I'm just adding this to give new plant owners a heads up that you always want to quarantine new plants and even give them a good cleaning and spray down with neem before introducing to your other plants.
I made this mistake and unfortunately mealybugs spread to one of my other plants and it eventually died.

Otherwise, I'd 100% recommend this store. They care for their plants properly unlike a lot of big box stores where I've seen water sensitive plants nearly drown or rotted, low-sun plants placed outside in full sun,and so on. I much prefer to buy from Chapons because they truly seem to have the best understanding of how to care for their plants.

Additionally, they carry pots and indoors is full of garden accessories, soils, fertilizers, tools, seeds, and so on.

I live in the North Side now, but still come to Chapon's for most of my garden needs. The staff are helpful and the plants are well cared for. It's my go to place for perennials, houseplants, bird seed, potting soil, and soil amendments. I was looking for something to bring the pH of my alkaline clay soil down and searched probably six stores before finding it here. Their selection of fertilizers, pest and disease treatments, and soil amendments is more extensive than most nurseries in the area who really focus only on plants. You can probably find at least an option or two for whatever you're looking for here, like staking supplies, garden art, pond supplies, etc.

A great local resource for gardening and landscaping. The staff is friendly and willing to talk to you about your plans, what works best, and even run down that plant you don't know the name of. Their shade mix grass seed has been miraculous for parts of my yard that otherwise were bare. Stop by look around but most of all ask for advice.

I shopped here on 6/9/18 . I have shopped here for years but this time will be my last! I spent at least 40 min. here and not one person asked me if they could assist me. I saw maybe 3 customers in the greenhouse and about 7 or 8 employees doing very little. I spent 203.19 to b exact and very disappointed! Girl at register rang my order at least 3 times not sure why!!! paid full price for each item. I only went there because I felt horrible about all the flooding that affected there business. Well I will no longer feel that way and the best part about this sale was the flowers were horrible and 2 are dead already, I feel totally cheated and disgusted! Watered the baskets and fed them with food I purchased there and still died!! What a waste of time and money!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

While they have a good selection of plants there, most of their houseplants are kept on the ground. Several plants I've gotten from there were infected with mealy bugs and I didnt notice until after I was home with them. Kinda upsetting as they are hard to control in a house with 23 houseplants. So some of my healthy plants are infected now too.. I wish they would find a better way to store their houseplants than on the ground under the outdoor plants.

I'm done going to this place. I try to support small businesses and all I do is regret it. For years we would go here and every time we got plants from here they never did any good. Went last year and there was huge infestations of bugs on all the vegetable plants and when we addressed the issue we were told not to worry about it. Red flag there. Shouldn't be selling infested plants at full price. Went this year. What a joke. I got those vegetable plants in my garden right now and they look sad next to the ones I got at Home Depot. Save your money and go somewhere else. I learned my lesson and I'm never going back.

Its been awhile since I've stopped there. I've missed doing so and was surprised at the seemingly new stuff they had. They're getting ready for the spring madness. Oh, thats baseball huh.
I found what hoped too, and was satisfied with the purchase... I got knowledgeable advise from staff. Being somewhat a 'local' place you'll find a lot more garden finds like bird baths, lawn additions, seeds, ferns, and other porch plants. Lots of larger plants ie: trees, bushes, flowering plants and trees. Mulch by the truck load, and delivery as well.
Give it a go, you'll like it better than the usual suspects. Wally world, or the tool places...

Wonderful selection of outdoor garden plants, beautifully displayed in their prime. This is the place to go for perennials, shrubs & evergreens. Top quality, fresh, instant effect specimens means you can look at them in all their glory, and choose the ones that appeal to you. Friendly, knowledgeable experts are there to help pick out the ones that are right for your yard.

New to the area, we went for the first time last weekend. Coming from someone who's worked in the nursery industry, the plant stock is high quality and the prices are comparable with a high quality product. The staff was beyond accommodating when we wanted to look at their shrubs in near freezing weather. Will 110% be going back. Worth crossing a bridge or two.

The workers there were extremely helpful. They helped me find the plants that I needed, gave me a discount for it being late in the season, gave me advice on how to plant them, and then carried all of my purchases out to my car. I am very happy with the experience, and hope to come back to them for future plant needs.

Can be a little pricey for pots and such, but they always have an impressive selection of annual and perennial flowering plants, herbs, vegetables and hanging baskets! Outside, you'll find an equally nice array of shrubs, bushes and bigger plants in general. If youre a big fan of petunias, impatiens and/or begonias, you'll LOVE it here! I've only rarely seen some of the petunia colors they have available elsewhere in the 'burgh, so of they're your favorite, definitely pop in and have a look.

One of my very favorite greenhouses. They always have a wide variety of plants, flowers, hanging baskets and lovely Christmas Trees. The prices on some of the decorative items can be high (like I have seen similar items at dollar stores), but their broad selection, coupled with the helpful people on staff, keep me coming back. Also a great place for bird seed varieties, chicken feed and supplies and other landscaping needs. Recently noticed a larger supply of fertilizers in stock too.

Yesterday was my first time here and I do not know why it has taken me so long to visit. They had a huge selection and the lady said they only had half of what they usually have in stock. Friendly staff. Some unique plants I have never seen around. Prices were great. I will be back again and again. Hubby wants to go back with me later this week.

Lovely to find a large selection of indoor tropical plants! Friendly and helpful staff. As with any plant purchases, just be cautious to check for pests/infections. Many of the plants I looked at had spider mites and some had rot from overwatering, but the plants I purchased from here have thrived more than any of the other places I’ve purchased from.

I have purchased plants over the years at Chapon's, for my home and for customers as a landscape contractor. Their extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Their selection is fantastic and their stock is well maintained. Will be there on Sunday with my daughter for our annual Mother's Day trip-it's one of her favorite places to go :) We love Chapon's!!!

Bought three apple trees from them last spring. A gentlemen who worked there spent about a half hour with me telling me how to care for the apple trees to produce the best harvest. He took me around and showed me everything I needed to ensure success. Trees have been in the ground a year now and are looking great. So much better than Home Depot or other options where the employees mostly don't care or have any knowledge at all.

I bought two hanging baskets ($25 each), died within a week even after caring for them appropriately- unable to return or exchange; so unfortunately I won't be returning which sucks because I'd much rather support a local business than a big-boxed store. Wish they had a better policy! Would have loved to have gotten more than a week out them because they weren't cheap.

I had a great experience here! They had a fantastic selection and the prices were decent for an independent greenhouse.

What really won me over was the customer service! The manager, Jenn, was so helpful and knowledgeable. She was able to answer all my questions, make some really insightful suggestions, and even knew the care instructions on all the plants I was interested in off the top of her head. She even personally repotted the plants I bought!

She really made the experience something special. I probably bought more than I planned on, but it was def worth it. Next time I'm looking for something garden related, I'm coming to Chapon's first!

Great selection of plants and flowers! Employees are always extremely helpful and they actually know what they’re talking about. Chapon’s has products the big box stores don’t carry and the plants seem to be healthier.

This place is awesome. They have a wide selection of well cared for plants. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's clean and asthetically pleasing inside. They also have a great selection of wild bird food and feeders of all kinds. This is by far the best nursery in Pittsburgh and to top it all off they have a very friendly cat who sleeps in the building. What more could you really ask for?!?
