Bob Hoover and his entire team at Modern Tile and Renovation, did an outstanding job remodeling our basement. They gutted it and brought it back to life! They followed their timeline without deviation and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product. I would highly recommend this company!

After a beautiful bathroom renovation several years ago we had Bob’s crew back for a kitchen remodel.
Bob’s crew is exceptional in their work. The guys are all punctual, respectful and I felt very comfortable with them in our home. Bob’s head carpenter, Scott, was great to work with and very thorough.

Modern Tile does an amazing job with any project. They completed 2 bathroom renovations for us, plus a laundry room, and some smaller window detail work. The entire team is respectful, pays attention to detail, and goes above and beyond. They are my go to! I am picky with details and find these guys are worth every penny. Every time I step into my shower I feel like I am stepping into a nice hotel shower. I sigh with relaxation and just smile. :)

Two full baths remodeled by Modern Tile and very happy! High quality, great at their craftmanship, hard-working, and very professional. Bob is very organized, great communicator, and makes the process of picking out the materials simple. I have also had a couple smaller projects of kitchen backsplash and tile in powder room. All projects were completed on time.

Overall very good experience from the very detailed quote to the consistent communication throughout. The crew were on schedule and left the work site clean. Any issues were dealt with promptly and professionally. Very happy with our main bathroom renovation.

Modern Tile and Renovation remodeled multiple rooms in my home: Master Suite Bathroom, Guest Suite Bathroom, Kitchen, Powder Room and Laundry Room. They gutted and replaced tile and countertops, refinished hardwood floors, updated plumbing and fixtures, update electrical, repaired drywall and painted interior rooms. Their work was excellent. Their staff professional and highly skilled. They were always on time, executed the work exactly as agreed upon, cleaned up at the end of each day and made sure to properly protect non-work areas. Bob and his team were wonderful to work with and I fully intend to use them again in the future.

I would highly recommend Modern Tile and Renovation LLC. They remodeled 3 bathrooms and tiled an entrance way for us. They were here when they said they were going to be here. They did what they said they would do. Every team member was courteous and professional. They respected my home and cleaned up after them selves. Modern Tile and Renovations LLC did a fantastic job with construction of our additional bathroom. The workmanship was outstanding and the scheduled calendar for various trades seriously helpful in keeping us all in sync. Communications were good. Friends and family admire the finished product each time they see it. We highly recommend this company for your renovation needs. We decided to have our main bathroom upstairs remodeled, and Bob Hoover was recommended to us. I'm so glad we made that decision! Our bathroom project was a total gut job. We wanted to remove the tub and replace it with a stand up shower with a bench seat. We also had the soffit removed which gave it a taller, sleeker look. They did the tilework, flooring, drywall, plumbing/fixtures, cabinet installation, quartz counter top, sinks, fan, electrical/lighting, mirrors, shower door, and a new toilet. It looks like a brand new bathroom. Bob and his crew are the BEST! They are professional, punctual, friendly, and neat. All of their work is top notch (especially the tile work, I'm obsessed)!! Everything came out so nice, I can't say enough about how pleased we are with the finished product! I would highly recommend Bob Hoover for home remodeling projects, you won't be disappointed. I look forward to working with him again in the future.

Two reviews here. The short version: Bob and the entire Modern Tile crew are fantastic! Their respect for your home is only matched by the professionalism they bring to every project. I only wish I could find as professional a company for all my home maintenance and repair projects. If you're getting your bath or kitchen remodeled, Modern should be at the top of your list.

The long version: I was going to remodel my two bathrooms myself. They make it look so easy on TV. A couple of bangs with a hammer and all the tile falls off the wall. Well, not in Michigan. Here it's tile on top of an inch of mortar held together with metal mesh, all attached to the studs. It didn't take long for me to decide I'd need professionals to renovate the bathrooms. It was a great decision.

Based on looking at other renovations by other companies at friends' houses, here are 10 reasons why Modern Tile and Bob are head and shoulders above the rest:
1. Quality of Work - After they took out the aforementioned heavy/mortar/mesh shower walls, I thought they'd go the drywall route. Nope. They used that same high quality construction technique on the new walls. Nothing's going to knock that down.
2. Quality of Tiling - This is where they really shine. There's not a single piece of tile that's misaligned. It's straight, on solid and it looks great.
3. Subcontractor Quality - It's clear that the subcontractors respect Bob as much as his direct employees do. They checked and double checked to make sure their work was up to our standards.
4. On-Time - Not just on-time for the start of the project. But on-time everyday they were supposed to show up. I mean, every installation day started at 8 am exactly. And the workers were on my front porch on the dot. It's a precision-run organization.
5. Personalized Drop Cloths - On the first day, they brought over a stack of drop cloths that went down on our floors before any worker set foot in the house. Each cloth had our name on it. And the words "This side up." They literally put these cloths down and no worker stepped foot on our floors without a drop cloth protecting the floor. That's how much respect they had for our house.
6. HEPA Air Cleaners and Window Fans - During demo, I totally expected to have a house full of dust. Nope. They ran air cleaners with HEPA filters during the whole demo process, and exhausted the rest out the windows. The construction dust through the whole renovation was kept to a minimum.
7. Communication - Bob texted us nearly every day of the projects, keeping us informed of who was arriving when and at what time. We were never in the dark about any part of our project.
8. Connections - Modern Tile has great connections with leading designers and suppliers all over Southeastern Michigan. And on the occasions when we decided to go with our own supplies (we'd bought a fair bit when I was planning to do the renovation myself), Bob didn't object.
9. Invoicing - Every step of the way, we received updated invoices showing exactly what we were paying for and why.
10. Overall Professionalism - Six months after the job was complete, there was a problem with a shower door. Since I still had Bob's number, I just texted him about it. The door installer took care of it with a few days. The professionalism we experienced during the job continues well past the end of the project.
We would definitely recommend Modern Tile!

I first hired Modern Tile and Renovation because I saw the truck and I believe in supporting local, small business.

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to receive what I got. What I received was a company that cared about me and my home to the extent they did. Every person from the initial consultation and the meeting with consultants and picking out cabinets, flooring, countertops, fixture and all of the workers all treated my home like it was the most important home in the world. The outcome was nothing shy of amazing.

Bob Hoover and his team honored my home, they cleaned up after every work day and the communication was top notch. Bob, you went way above to make sure things were not just to standard, but above standard and your team carries those same values.

I now sit in my renovated home, and admire the beauty but also respect the people who I treated my home with such respect.

Working with Bob Hoover of Modern Tile and Renovation to remake our full bath to look more like a powder room has been the best experience ever with a contractor. He is organized and an excellent communicator. He and his workers are on time, expert and a pleasure to work with. They made the project easy and the outcome is sophisticated and beautiful. The Tile Shop recommended this company to us when we were remodeling a small master bathroom, and we were so happy with the job it did that we have used this company ever since for all of our home remodeling. Their tile work is unrivaled! But they are equally competent in everything the have done for us. Their pricing is fair , detailed, and transparent. There are never any surprises. They are always on time and their estimates of when the job will be completed have always been accurate. Every day when the company's employees leave, they clean up the work area so you are never left with a mess even while the job is in progress. All of their employees are friendly and enjoyable to have in the home and they are careful with pets. I cannot say enough nice things about this company. You will not be disappointed if you chose them.

We recently hired Modern Tile and Renovation to repair our second-story outdoor porch that had been installed incorrectly, and they exceeded every expectation. From start to finish, they were hard-working, punctual, and incredibly clean. They left the worksite spotless every day, which was especially appreciated given the messiness of tile work. Their attention to detail was excellent and the job looks fantastic.

One of the most impressive aspects was how they fixed an unfortunate error that occurred during the job. A small downpour sprung up quickly while the old porch was being demolished. Water got into our downstairs. Bob and his team repaired all damage immediately, and even took extra steps to ensure it wouldn't happen again. Their dedication to quality and integrity was evident throughout the project. Hands down, this is the best contractor I've ever worked with! We couldn't be happier with the results and wholeheartedly recommend Modern Tile for any tile or repair job.

Bob Hoover and his team did work for us in two of our bathrooms plus kitchen. It was great working with him and his crew. They were very attentive to our needs and the work was excellent. Bob is great to work with. His crew is excellent. He was very attentive to our projects and always kept us updated as to when they would be here and when the projects would be completed. In our kitchen they did our backsplash and replaced the cabinet doors and drawers. Other contractors wanted to do a complete replace or reface. He was the only one who was willing to work with us and do the doors and drawers only. They came out great and was exactly what we wanted. We couldn’t be happier. Overall we would highly recommend Bob and his team for any projects.

Bob and his crew from Modern Tile were top notch! They were reasonably priced, there on time every day, and even did a few extra things for us at no extra charge. They do everything in their power to make sure the customer is satisfied. I cannot say enough good things about them. If you are on the fence, do it. They will give you the dream kitchen or bathroom you always wanted.

Bob and his team continue to impress us with their quality and professionalism. We had two very difficult floor patterns to install, and the work turned out flawless. They provided us with a detailed timeline, showing what would happen when, and completed everything on exactly that timeline (think about how many construction projects you can say that for!). This is our third project (second bathroom), and I'm sure we'll work with them again.

Bob at Modern is an amazing contractor to work with. This was his second bug project for me (common bath done a few years earlier). His team did a master bath remodel for me, down to the studs. They made my shower bigger, ripped out the built in tub and replaced with a soaker. Bob helped me design my new bathroom and worked with me where I wanted more affordable options. And he always backs up his work. His team is professional and courteous when they are in my home. Looking forward to finding more projects for him!

I had a very positive experience with Modern Tile and Renovation. Bob is extremely organized and communicates every step of the way. His crew is hard-working, respectful, and very skilled. They showed up at 8 AM on the dot and thoroughly cleaned up at the end of a day’s work. Any concerns that arose were immediately addressed and resolved. If it was within my budget to have more updates done, I would absolutely call them back. I’m so pleased with how everything turned out!

We would highly recommend Modern for any remodeling job you may have. Honest as the day is long, professional, quality work, have a time calendar, and kept the house clean. We had many companies out here for quotes and he was by far the most professional. Can get a bit stressed sometimes, but don’t let that put you off. It’s only because he wants everything to go well and on time. All his crews work in tandem which is brilliant! One helper is a apprentice, and one is a expert tradesman. Found all of them to be great. You won’t be sorry you have gone with them. Love our bathrooms!
